Lupus je autoimuna bolest koju karakterizira - slično kao i druge autoimune bolesti - to da tijelo prepoznaje vlastite stanice kao strane i počinje ih napadati.

Bolest može imati različite varijante koje prate i različiti simptomi, od onih koji su uglavnom neugodni do simptoma koji čak mogu biti i opasni za život. Prilično tipičan simptom lupusa je osip na licu, posebno na obrazima i nosu.

Osim toga, mogu se pojaviti i problemi sa zglobovima, čir na ustima i bolovi u prsima zbog nakupljanja tekućine oko važnih organa. Većinu ljudi pogođenih lupusom posebno muči kronična bol. Iako neposredni uzroci lupusa još nisu jasni, poznato je da određeni čimbenici mogu pridonijeti povećanom riziku od razvoja bolesti. Nekoliko je čimbenika koji bi mogli imati posebno velik utjecaj na razvoj bolesti.

Genetski utjecaj

Lupus često pogađa nekoliko članova uže obitelji. Primjerice, ako imate braću i sestre kojima je dijagnosticiran lupus, šanse da se sami razbolite čak su 20 puta veće nego kod drugih ljudi.

Smatra se da je lupus povezan s određenim genetskim varijacijama koje utječu na način funkcioniranja imunološkog sustava. Naravno, na genetiku se ne može izravno utjecati, ali ako ste među onima za koje postoji velika vjerojatnost da će oboljeti, možete barem malo smanjiti rizik od lupusa drugim promjenama.

Ultraljubičaste zrake

Česta izloženost ultraljubičastim zrakama bez odgovarajuće zaštite opasna je za sve ljude. To uvelike povećava rizik od raka kože. Istodobno, ultraljubičaste zrake mogu pridonijeti povećanom riziku od lupusa kod onih koji imaju genetsku predispoziciju za bolest.

Ultraljubičaste zrake mogu pridonijeti mutaciji određenih gena, koji na taj način postaju meta imunološkog sustava. Istodobno, ultraljubičaste zrake također mogu utjecati na pogoršanje simptoma bolesti kod ljudi kojima je već dijagnosticiran lupus.

Izloženost opasnim tvarima

Znanstvenici su otkrili da se rizik od lupusa može povećati izlaganjem određenim opasnim tvarima. Jedna od takvih tvari je silicijev dioksid, posebno kada se radi o vrlo sitnim kristalima.

Ako ti kristali uđu u pluća, više se ne mogu izlučiti. Iako postoji prilično očita korelacija, stručnjaci još uvijek nisu u potpunosti sigurni zašto je silicijev dioksid toliko problematičan kada je u pitanju rizik od lupusa. Sličan rizik može biti povezan s izloženošću živi i pesticidima, a rizik za lupus povećan je i kod pušača.

Infekcije određenim virusima

Čimbenici rizika koji mogu povećati vjerojatnost pojave lupusa uključuju infekcije određenim virusima, poput humanog herpesvirusa 4, koji se naziva i Epstein-Barrov virus.

Smatra se da su antitijela koja se počinju stvarati u tijelu nakon izlaganja ovom virusu odgovorna za abnormalno ponašanje imunološkog sustava. Smatra se da je kontakt s virusom posebno problematičan za osobe koji su pod povećanim rizikom zbog nasljednih čimbenika.

Hormonska kontracepcija

Povećani rizik obolijevanja od lupusa povezuje se s upotrebom hormonske kontracepcije, hormonskih dodataka ili lijekova koji unose dodatni estrogen u tijelo.

Smatra se da "vanjski estrogen" može pridonijeti intenzivnijim simptomima lupusa kod onih koji se već bore s ovom bolešću. Smatra se da je to povezano s oslobađanjem tzv. interleukina-1 uz dodatak estrogena.

To je skupina od jedanaest interleukina - citokina koji su uključeni u protuupalni odgovor našeg tijela.

Lupus je autoimuna bolest koju karakterizira - slično kao i druge autoimune bolesti - to da tijelo prepoznaje vlastite stanice kao strane i počinje ih napadati.

Bolest može imati različite varijante koje prate i različiti simptomi, od onih koji su uglavnom neugodni do simptoma koji čak mogu biti i opasni za život. Prilično tipičan simptom lupusa je osip na licu, posebno na obrazima i nosu.

Osim toga, mogu se pojaviti i problemi sa zglobovima, čir na ustima i bolovi u prsima zbog nakupljanja tekućine oko važnih organa. Većinu ljudi pogođenih lupusom posebno muči kronična bol. Iako neposredni uzroci lupusa još nisu jasni, poznato je da određeni čimbenici mogu pridonijeti povećanom riziku od razvoja bolesti. Nekoliko je čimbenika koji bi mogli imati posebno velik utjecaj na razvoj bolesti.

Genetski utjecaj

Lupus često pogađa nekoliko članova uže obitelji. Primjerice, ako imate braću i sestre kojima je dijagnosticiran lupus, šanse da se sami razbolite čak su 20 puta veće nego kod drugih ljudi.

Smatra se da je lupus povezan s određenim genetskim varijacijama koje utječu na način funkcioniranja imunološkog sustava. Naravno, na genetiku se ne može izravno utjecati, ali ako ste među onima za koje postoji velika vjerojatnost da će oboljeti, možete barem malo smanjiti rizik od lupusa drugim promjenama.

Ultraljubičaste zrake

Česta izloženost ultraljubičastim zrakama bez odgovarajuće zaštite opasna je za sve ljude. To uvelike povećava rizik od raka kože. Istodobno, ultraljubičaste zrake mogu pridonijeti povećanom riziku od lupusa kod onih koji imaju genetsku predispoziciju za bolest.

Ultraljubičaste zrake mogu pridonijeti mutaciji određenih gena, koji na taj način postaju meta imunološkog sustava. Istodobno, ultraljubičaste zrake također mogu utjecati na pogoršanje simptoma bolesti kod ljudi kojima je već dijagnosticiran lupus.

Izloženost opasnim tvarima

Znanstvenici su otkrili da se rizik od lupusa može povećati izlaganjem određenim opasnim tvarima. Jedna od takvih tvari je silicijev dioksid, posebno kada se radi o vrlo sitnim kristalima.

Ako ti kristali uđu u pluća, više se ne mogu izlučiti. Iako postoji prilično očita korelacija, stručnjaci još uvijek nisu u potpunosti sigurni zašto je silicijev dioksid toliko problematičan kada je u pitanju rizik od lupusa. Sličan rizik može biti povezan s izloženošću živi i pesticidima, a rizik za lupus povećan je i kod pušača.

Infekcije određenim virusima

Čimbenici rizika koji mogu povećati vjerojatnost pojave lupusa uključuju infekcije određenim virusima, poput humanog herpesvirusa 4, koji se naziva i Epstein-Barrov virus.

Smatra se da su antitijela koja se počinju stvarati u tijelu nakon izlaganja ovom virusu odgovorna za abnormalno ponašanje imunološkog sustava. Smatra se da je kontakt s virusom posebno problematičan za osobe koji su pod povećanim rizikom zbog nasljednih čimbenika.

Hormonska kontracepcija

Povećani rizik obolijevanja od lupusa povezuje se s upotrebom hormonske kontracepcije, hormonskih dodataka ili lijekova koji unose dodatni estrogen u tijelo.

Smatra se da "vanjski estrogen" može pridonijeti intenzivnijim simptomima lupusa kod onih koji se već bore s ovom bolešću. Smatra se da je to povezano s oslobađanjem tzv. interleukina-1 uz dodatak estrogena.

To je skupina od jedanaest interleukina - citokina koji su uključeni u protuupalni odgovor našeg tijela.

Lupus je autoimuna bolest koju karakterizira - slično kao i druge autoimune bolesti - to da tijelo prepoznaje vlastite stanice kao strane i počinje ih napadati.

Bolest može imati različite varijante koje prate i različiti simptomi, od onih koji su uglavnom neugodni do simptoma koji čak mogu biti i opasni za život. Prilično tipičan simptom lupusa je osip na licu, posebno na obrazima i nosu.

Osim toga, mogu se pojaviti i problemi sa zglobovima, čir na ustima i bolovi u prsima zbog nakupljanja tekućine oko važnih organa. Većinu ljudi pogođenih lupusom posebno muči kronična bol. Iako neposredni uzroci lupusa još nisu jasni, poznato je da određeni čimbenici mogu pridonijeti povećanom riziku od razvoja bolesti. Nekoliko je čimbenika koji bi mogli imati posebno velik...
