Somalski gusari u nedjelju su oteli tanker dugačak 332 metra, koji je prevozio sirovu naftu u vrijednosti od oko 20 milijuna dolara na relaciji Saudijska Arabija - Sjedinjene Države, potvrdili su u ponedjeljak službeni izvori.

Tanker je otet u opasnim vodama pred obalom istočne Afrike, navode dužnosnici koji upozoravaju da bi otmica tankera mogla predstavljati veliku opasnost za okoliš i za sigurnost.

Brod Maran Centaurus, koji plovi pod grčkom zastavom otet je u nedjelju oko 585 nautičkih milja (oko 1.300 km) od somalske obale, kazao je glasnogovornik Pomorskih snaga EU-a John Harbour.

Tanker je isplovio iz Džede i plovio je prema luci New Orleans u SAD-u. Na njemu je 28 članova posade: 16 Filipinaca, devet Grka, dvojica Ukrajinaca i jedan rumunjski državljanin. Nosivost mu je preko 300.000 tona i spada u kategoriju supertankera ili velikih transportera nafte.

Ovaj supertanker je, smatraju stručnjaci, za gusare bio vrlo lagan plijen, jer je pun nafte i plovi malom brzinom, što im je olakšalo otmicu. Vlasnik broda je grčka tvrtka Maran Tankers Management Inc, čije je sjedište u Ateni. Europska organizacija za borbu protiv piratstva 'Atalante' izvijestila je kako je tanker zaplovio prema somalskim lukama Harardhere ili Hobboyo, dvama gusarskim utočištima.

Gusari su primijenili novu taktiku pri otmici tankera, udaljivši se iz voda Adenskoga zaljeva - u kojemu se nalaze strani ratni brodovi - prema sjeveru Somalije i još dalje prema Indijskom oceanu blizu Sejšela.

Somalski su gusari u studenome 2008. oteli supertanker Sirius Star, za čije su oslobađanje tada navodno, uz pomoć raznih posrednika, uspjeli dobiti otkupninu u vrijednosti od osam milijuna dolara.

Somalski gusari u nedjelju su oteli tanker dugačak 332 metra, koji je prevozio sirovu naftu u vrijednosti od oko 20 milijuna dolara na relaciji Saudijska Arabija - Sjedinjene Države, potvrdili su u ponedjeljak službeni izvori.

Tanker je otet u opasnim vodama pred obalom istočne Afrike, navode dužnosnici koji upozoravaju da bi otmica tankera mogla predstavljati veliku opasnost za okoliš i za sigurnost.

Brod Maran Centaurus, koji plovi pod grčkom zastavom otet je u nedjelju oko 585 nautičkih milja (oko 1.300 km) od somalske obale, kazao je glasnogovornik Pomorskih snaga EU-a John Harbour.

Tanker je isplovio iz Džede i plovio je prema luci New Orleans u SAD-u. Na njemu je 28 članova posade: 16 Filipinaca, devet Grka, dvojica Ukrajinaca i jedan rumunjski državljanin. Nosivost mu je preko 300.000 tona i spada u kategoriju supertankera ili velikih transportera nafte.

Ovaj supertanker je, smatraju stručnjaci, za gusare bio vrlo lagan plijen, jer je pun nafte i plovi malom brzinom, što im je olakšalo otmicu. Vlasnik broda je grčka tvrtka Maran Tankers Management Inc, čije je sjedište u Ateni. Europska organizacija za borbu protiv piratstva 'Atalante' izvijestila je kako je tanker zaplovio prema somalskim lukama Harardhere ili Hobboyo, dvama gusarskim utočištima.

Gusari su primijenili novu taktiku pri otmici tankera, udaljivši se iz voda Adenskoga zaljeva - u kojemu se nalaze strani ratni brodovi - prema sjeveru Somalije i još dalje prema Indijskom oceanu blizu Sejšela.

Somalski su gusari u studenome 2008. oteli supertanker Sirius Star, za čije su oslobađanje tada navodno, uz pomoć raznih posrednika, uspjeli dobiti otkupninu u vrijednosti od osam milijuna dolara.
