Prošle subote u Münchenu je u 98. godini preminuo David Dushman, veteran sovjetske Crvene armije i posljednji živi osloboditelj zloglasnog nacističkog logora Auschwitz, u kojem je stradao oko 1,1 milijun ljudi, većinom Židova.

U siječnju 1945. tada 22-godišnji Dushman, i sâm Židov, svojim je tenkom T-34 srušio električnu ogradu oko Auschwitza i ušao u logor – u kojem se tada nalazilo 7000 preostalih zatvorenika – ugledavši najpotresniju scenu svog života: izgladnjele ljude u prugastim logorskim odorama kako bauljaju između leševa.

- Pet tenkova, uključujući moj, poslano je prema jugu. Kad smo stigli, vidjeli smo tu ogradu od bodljikave žice i te nesretne ljude. Nijemci više nisu bili u logoru, svi su pobjegli. Tenkovima smo pokosili ogradu. Zatvorenici su stajali i gledali nas... Teturali su, sjedili i ležali među mrtvima. Bilo je strašno. Dali smo im hranu, sve konzerve koje smo imali, i odmah krenuli u lov na fašiste – do smrti je u intervjuima prepričavao tu scenu.

Sin 'neprijatelja naroda'

Dushman se u Crvenu armiju kao dobrovoljac prijavio 22. lipnja 1941., istog dana kad je Njemačka napala SSSR. Sudjelovao je u bitkama za Staljingrad i Kursk, te je bio triput ranjen, od čega jednom teže, pa je rat završio kao invalid.

Zanimljivo je da ga toga 22. lipnja 1941. regrutna komisija Crvene armije nije htjela poslati na front. Ne zato što je bio mlad (imao je 18 godina i dva mjeseca), već zato što je bio sportski šampion: netom prije Hitlerova napada na SSSR postao je omladinski prvak Moskve u mačevanju.

- Natjecanje se održavalo u Parku kulture Gorki. Kad su objavili da je rat počeo, nadmetanje je stalo i odmah sam odjurio u vojni odsjek. Vojni komesar mi je rekao: 'Vi ste prvak Moskve, bit ćete u pozadini.' Ali napravio sam scenu i tako su me poslali u tenkiste – rekao je Dushman lani ruskoj novinarki Irini Frolovoj. Usprkos teškom ranjavanju u ratu, Dushman je nakon 1945. nastavio sportsku karijeru te je 1951. čak postao prvak SSSR-a u mačevanju.

- Iz rata sam izišao bez metar i pol crijeva i bez pola desnog plućnog krila. Isprva nisam mogao napraviti ni pet koraka; usta su mi krvarila. No, počeo sam vježbati, najprije jednu minutu dnevno, pa sve dulje. I postupno sam se vratio sportu i 1951. postao prvak SSSR-a – kazivao je u tom razgovoru Frolovoj.

Kao sovjetski šampion, iduće godine (1952.) trebao je ići na Olimpijske igre u Helsinki, ali zbog očevih „grijeha” nije dobio mjesto u avionu. Naime, njegov otac, sportski liječnik, u okviru Staljinovih čistki završio je 1938. u arktičkom logoru Vorkuta, gdje je deset godina kasnije i umro.

- Ukratko, moj je otac umro u logoru i pokopan je tamo, u Vorkuti. A onda sam nakon Staljinove smrti dobio potvrdu da je moj otac nezakonito osuđen, da je bio normalna, poštena osoba. Uobičajena priča tih godina, ali ga više nije bilo moguće vratiti... - iznio je lani Dushman.

'Ne mrzim Nijemce, nego fašiste'

No, ako kao sin „neprijatelja naroda” u Staljinovu aktu nije bio podoban da osobno predstavlja SSSR u inozemstvu, kao višestruko ranjavani i odlikovani borac Crvene armije bio je podoban da trenira mlade: Dushman 1952. postaje trener ženske mačevalačke reprezentacije SSSR-a, i to ostaje sve do 1988., punih 36 godina. Posebnu izjavu povodom Dushmanove smrti dao je šef MOO-a Thomas Bach, i sâm mačevalac, koji je bio njegov veliki poklonik.

- Kad smo se sreli 1970. godine, odmah mi je ponudio prijateljstvo i savjet, unatoč njegovom osobnom iskustvu s Drugim svjetskim ratom i Auschwitzom, a bio je i židovskog podrijetla. To je bila toliko duboka ljudska gesta da je nikad neću zaboraviti - rekao je Bach, inače etnički Nijemac.

Sâm Dushman je u ožujku 2018., uoči svog 95. rođendana, u intervjuu za njemački portal Abendzeitung München izjavio da ne osjeća nikakvu ogorčenost prema Nijemcima:

- Nismo se borili protiv Nijemaca, već protiv fašizma - rekao je u tom razgovoru, u kojem su ga njemački novinari opisali kao „mentalno budnog i fizički gotovo zastrašujuće spremnog”.

Uoči raspada SSSR-a Dushman seli u Austriju, gdje radi kao trener, a 1996. po istom poslu odlazi u München, gdje će živjeti do kraja života. Ostao je vitalan i u dubokoj starosti, pa je sve do svoje 95. godine gotovo svakodnevno odlazio u mačevalački klub i držao lekcije mladim talentima.

Nakon Dushmanove smrti oglasila se i Izraelska kulturna zajednica (IKG) Münchena i Gornje Bavarske, čiji je bio počasni član. Predsjednica IKG dr. Charlotte Knobloch još je 2018., na proslavi Dushmanova 95. rođendana, kazala da je Dushman "pretrpio dovoljno za tri života”, a sada ga je nazvala "herojem Auschwitza”.

Prošle subote u Münchenu je u 98. godini preminuo David Dushman, veteran sovjetske Crvene armije i posljednji živi osloboditelj zloglasnog nacističkog logora Auschwitz, u kojem je stradao oko 1,1 milijun ljudi, većinom Židova.

U siječnju 1945. tada 22-godišnji Dushman, i sâm Židov, svojim je tenkom T-34 srušio električnu ogradu oko Auschwitza i ušao u logor – u kojem se tada nalazilo 7000 preostalih zatvorenika – ugledavši najpotresniju scenu svog života: izgladnjele ljude u prugastim logorskim odorama kako bauljaju između leševa.

- Pet tenkova, uključujući moj, poslano je prema jugu. Kad smo stigli, vidjeli smo tu ogradu od bodljikave žice i te nesretne ljude. Nijemci više nisu bili u logoru, svi su pobjegli. Tenkovima smo pokosili ogradu. Zatvorenici su stajali i gledali nas... Teturali su, sjedili i ležali među mrtvima. Bilo je strašno. Dali smo im hranu, sve konzerve koje smo imali, i odmah krenuli u lov na fašiste – do smrti je u intervjuima prepričavao tu scenu.

Sin 'neprijatelja naroda'

Dushman se u Crvenu armiju kao dobrovoljac prijavio 22. lipnja 1941., istog dana kad je Njemačka napala SSSR. Sudjelovao je u bitkama za Staljingrad i Kursk, te je bio triput ranjen, od čega jednom teže, pa je rat završio kao invalid.

Zanimljivo je da ga toga 22. lipnja 1941. regrutna komisija Crvene armije nije htjela poslati na front. Ne zato što je bio mlad (imao je 18 godina i dva mjeseca), već zato što je bio sportski šampion: netom prije Hitlerova napada na SSSR postao je omladinski prvak Moskve u mačevanju.

- Natjecanje se održavalo u Parku kulture Gorki. Kad su objavili da je rat počeo, nadmetanje je stalo i odmah sam odjurio u vojni odsjek. Vojni komesar mi je rekao: 'Vi ste prvak Moskve, bit ćete u pozadini.' Ali napravio sam scenu i tako su me poslali u tenkiste – rekao je Dushman lani ruskoj novinarki Irini Frolovoj. Usprkos teškom ranjavanju u ratu, Dushman je nakon 1945. nastavio sportsku karijeru te je 1951. čak postao prvak SSSR-a u mačevanju.

- Iz rata sam izišao bez metar i pol crijeva i bez pola desnog plućnog krila. Isprva nisam mogao napraviti ni pet koraka; usta su mi krvarila. No, počeo sam vježbati, najprije jednu minutu dnevno, pa sve dulje. I postupno sam se vratio sportu i 1951. postao prvak SSSR-a – kazivao je u tom razgovoru Frolovoj.

Kao sovjetski šampion, iduće godine (1952.) trebao je ići na Olimpijske igre u Helsinki, ali zbog očevih „grijeha” nije dobio mjesto u avionu. Naime, njegov otac, sportski liječnik, u okviru Staljinovih čistki završio je 1938. u arktičkom logoru Vorkuta, gdje je deset godina kasnije i umro.

- Ukratko, moj je otac umro u logoru i pokopan je tamo, u Vorkuti. A onda sam nakon Staljinove smrti dobio potvrdu da je moj otac nezakonito osuđen, da je bio normalna, poštena osoba. Uobičajena priča tih godina, ali ga više nije bilo moguće vratiti... - iznio je lani Dushman.

'Ne mrzim Nijemce, nego fašiste'

No, ako kao sin „neprijatelja naroda” u Staljinovu aktu nije bio podoban da osobno predstavlja SSSR u inozemstvu, kao višestruko ranjavani i odlikovani borac Crvene armije bio je podoban da trenira mlade: Dushman 1952. postaje trener ženske mačevalačke reprezentacije SSSR-a, i to ostaje sve do 1988., punih 36 godina. Posebnu izjavu povodom Dushmanove smrti dao je šef MOO-a Thomas Bach, i sâm mačevalac, koji je bio njegov veliki poklonik.

- Kad smo se sreli 1970. godine, odmah mi je ponudio prijateljstvo i savjet, unatoč njegovom osobnom iskustvu s Drugim svjetskim ratom i Auschwitzom, a bio je i židovskog podrijetla. To je bila toliko duboka ljudska gesta da je nikad neću zaboraviti - rekao je Bach, inače etnički Nijemac.

Sâm Dushman je u ožujku 2018., uoči svog 95. rođendana, u intervjuu za njemački portal Abendzeitung München izjavio da ne osjeća nikakvu ogorčenost prema Nijemcima:

- Nismo se borili protiv Nijemaca, već protiv fašizma - rekao je u tom razgovoru, u kojem su ga njemački novinari opisali kao „mentalno budnog i fizički gotovo zastrašujuće spremnog”.

Uoči raspada SSSR-a Dushman seli u Austriju, gdje radi kao trener, a 1996. po istom poslu odlazi u München, gdje će živjeti do kraja života. Ostao je vitalan i u dubokoj starosti, pa je sve do svoje 95. godine gotovo svakodnevno odlazio u mačevalački klub i držao lekcije mladim talentima.

Nakon Dushmanove smrti oglasila se i Izraelska kulturna zajednica (IKG) Münchena i Gornje Bavarske, čiji je bio počasni član. Predsjednica IKG dr. Charlotte Knobloch još je 2018., na proslavi Dushmanova 95. rođendana, kazala da je Dushman "pretrpio dovoljno za tri života”, a sada ga je nazvala "herojem Auschwitza”.
