Još prije nekoliko tjedana stručnjaci za zarazne bolesti predviđali su da će 2022. godine zemlje početi suzbijati pandemiju koronavirusa nakon što pretrpe niz valova zaraza od alfe, bete, game i delte, ali je nova omikron varijanta, koja je dobila zamah u Europi i Sjedinjenim Državama, potencijalno ugrozila te prognoze.

Očekivalo se da će covid-19 u tim područjima uskoro prerasti u endemsku bolest, s povremenim i blažim sezonskim epidemijama. Cjepiva, dostupna veći dio 2021. samo u bogatim zemljama, mogla bi doći do većine svjetskog stanovništva do kraja iduće godine. 

No brzo širenje omikron varijante s velikim brojem mutacija, otkrivene krajem studenog, potkopava te nade.

Zemlje već sada vraćaju ranije mjere u pandemiji: ograničenje putovanja, obvezno nošenje maski, preporuke protiv velikih okupljanja za božićne blagdane.

"Ljudima je dosta pandemije i sam Bog zna da je i meni, ali ako hitno ne natjeramo naše vođe na akciju, zaista mislim da će 2022. biti poput onoga što smo vidjeli u 2021.", rekla je za Reuters Angela Rasmussen, virologinja u Organizaciji za cjepiva i zarazne bolesti pri Sveučilištu Saskatchewan u Kanadi. 

Nakon što covid-19 i postane endemska bolest, nove varijante će još godinama uzrokovati nova žarišta i porast zaraza.

"Uvijek će postojati osnovni broj covid zaraza, hospitalizacija i mrtvih", rekao je Amesh Adalja, stručnjak za zarazne bolesti u Centru za zdravstvenu sigurnost Johns Hopkins. "Puno ljudi nije se pomirilo s time", dodao je.

Ljudi će se morati prilagoditi novim varijantama, tvrdi Tom Frieden, voditelj globalne inicijative Resolve to Save Lives i bivši direktor Američkog centra za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti (CDC). "Morat ćete priznati da će u određenom razdoblju biti sigurnije raditi stvari nego u nekom drugom."

Kraj pandemije 2022.?

Neki znanstvenici se još uvijek nadaju da će se neki dijelovi svijeta izvući iz pandemije iduće godine.

Više od 270 milijuna ljudi zaraženo je koronavirusom u svijetu, prema podacima Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije, dok je otprilike 57 posto svjetskog stanovništva primilo barem jednu dozu cjepiva koje predstavlja potencijalnu zaštitu koje nije bilo prije dvije godine.

"Čak i ako ta imunost nije tako dobra protiv omikrona, ne znači da je beznačajna. I ta imunost je učinkovitija protiv težih oboljenja nego općenito protiv zaraze", rekao je David Dowdy, epidemiolog na Sveučilištu Johns Hopkins. 

Mnogi stručnjaci vjeruju da će primanje 'booster' doze spriječiti veći broj hospitalizacija i smrti. 

"Još uvijek imate puno osjetljivih ljudi (u epidemiologiji su to pojedinci kojima prijeti opasnost od zaraze)" jer nisu još cijepljeni, rekla je Celine Gounder, specijalistica za zarazne bolesti na njujorškom sveučilištu.

Život s covidom-19 iduće godine vjerojatno će uključivati procjenu lokalnih rizika i zaštitu putem cijepljenja, nošenja maski i socijalne distance.

Još prije nekoliko tjedana stručnjaci za zarazne bolesti predviđali su da će 2022. godine zemlje početi suzbijati pandemiju koronavirusa nakon što pretrpe niz valova zaraza od alfe, bete, game i delte, ali je nova omikron varijanta, koja je dobila zamah u Europi i Sjedinjenim Državama, potencijalno ugrozila te prognoze.

Očekivalo se da će covid-19 u tim područjima uskoro prerasti u endemsku bolest, s povremenim i blažim sezonskim epidemijama. Cjepiva, dostupna veći dio 2021. samo u bogatim zemljama, mogla bi doći do većine svjetskog stanovništva do kraja iduće godine. 

No brzo širenje omikron varijante s velikim brojem mutacija, otkrivene krajem studenog, potkopava te nade.

Zemlje već sada vraćaju ranije mjere u pandemiji: ograničenje putovanja, obvezno nošenje maski, preporuke protiv velikih okupljanja za božićne blagdane.

"Ljudima je dosta pandemije i sam Bog zna da je i meni, ali ako hitno ne natjeramo naše vođe na akciju, zaista mislim da će 2022. biti poput onoga što smo vidjeli u 2021.", rekla je za Reuters Angela Rasmussen, virologinja u Organizaciji za cjepiva i zarazne bolesti pri Sveučilištu Saskatchewan u Kanadi. 

Nakon što covid-19 i postane endemska bolest, nove varijante će još godinama uzrokovati nova žarišta i porast zaraza.

"Uvijek će postojati osnovni broj covid zaraza, hospitalizacija i mrtvih", rekao je Amesh Adalja, stručnjak za zarazne bolesti u Centru za zdravstvenu sigurnost Johns Hopkins. "Puno ljudi nije se pomirilo s time", dodao je.

Ljudi će se morati prilagoditi novim varijantama, tvrdi Tom Frieden, voditelj globalne inicijative Resolve to Save Lives i bivši direktor Američkog centra za kontrolu i prevenciju bolesti (CDC). "Morat ćete priznati da će u određenom razdoblju biti sigurnije raditi stvari nego u nekom drugom."

Kraj pandemije 2022.?

Neki znanstvenici se još uvijek nadaju da će se neki dijelovi svijeta izvući iz pandemije iduće godine.

Više od 270 milijuna ljudi zaraženo je koronavirusom u svijetu, prema podacima Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije, dok je otprilike 57 posto svjetskog stanovništva primilo barem jednu dozu cjepiva koje predstavlja potencijalnu zaštitu koje nije bilo prije dvije godine.

"Čak i ako ta imunost nije tako dobra protiv omikrona, ne znači da je beznačajna. I ta imunost je učinkovitija protiv težih oboljenja nego općenito protiv zaraze", rekao je David Dowdy, epidemiolog na Sveučilištu Johns Hopkins. 

Mnogi stručnjaci vjeruju da će primanje 'booster' doze spriječiti veći broj hospitalizacija i smrti. 

"Još uvijek imate puno osjetljivih ljudi (u epidemiologiji su to pojedinci kojima prijeti opasnost od zaraze)" jer nisu još cijepljeni, rekla je Celine Gounder, specijalistica za zarazne bolesti na njujorškom sveučilištu.

Život s covidom-19 iduće godine vjerojatno će uključivati procjenu lokalnih rizika i zaštitu putem cijepljenja, nošenja maski i socijalne distance.

Još prije nekoliko tjedana stručnjaci za zarazne bolesti predviđali su da će 2022. godine zemlje početi suzbijati pandemiju koronavirusa nakon što pretrpe niz valova zaraza od alfe, bete, game i delte, ali je nova omikron varijanta, koja je dobila zamah u Europi i Sjedinjenim Državama, potencijalno ugrozila te prognoze.

Očekivalo se da će covid-19 u tim područjima uskoro prerasti u endemsku bolest, s povremenim i blažim sezonskim epidemijama. Cjepiva, dostupna veći dio 2021. samo u bogatim zemljama, mogla bi doći do većine svjetskog stanovništva do kraja iduće godine. 

No brzo širenje omikron varijante s velikim brojem mutacija, otkrivene krajem studenog, potkopava te nade.

Zemlje već sada vraćaju ranije mjere u pandemiji: ograničenje putovanja, obvezno nošenje...
