Teniska zvijezda Novak Đoković iz prve ruke doživljava surovost australske granične politike. Dobio je vizu i bio ohrabren da uđe u zrakoplov, usprkos njegovim skeptičnim stavovima o cjepivima. Zlonamjerna taktika mamca - jer kada je stigao, Australija mu je pred nosom zalupila vrata.

Vjerojatno su odgovorni pomislili da bi tim potezom u posljednjem trenutku mogli ostvariti dvostruku političku pobjedu.

Sud u Melbourneu je doduše presudio u korist 34-godišnje teniske zvijezde i naredio njegovo trenutačno puštanje iz deportacijskog hotela.

Ali uspjeh na sudu ne jamči da Novak Đoković kao branitelj naslova može sudjelovati na Australian openu od 17. siječnja. Australska vlada je već najavila da će preispitati Đokovićevu vizu, piše Alistair Walsh za Deutsche Welle.

Mnogi Australci vide nazočnost necijepljenog Đokovića kao uvredu za stoičke napore stanovnika Melbournea, koji su mjesecima zatvoreni i masovno cijepljeni čak i ako su bili u nedoumici. Odbijanje ulaska tenisaču stoga je naišlo na njihovo odobravanje.

Međutim, ta odluka je mogla biti donesena prije nego što je krenuo na put. Ali promjena u posljednjem trenutku omogućila je drugu političku pobjedu: izazvala je mini-graničnu krizu i napravila čudo - skretanje pozornosti s katastrofalnog upravljanja pandemijom australske vlade.

Strategija okrutnosti

To je bila laka dvostruka pobjeda. I prati izlizani scenarij Australije o ubiranju političkog kapitala iz okrutnosti na granici. Desetljećima su australski političari svih boja koristili graničnu kontrolu kao polugu za političku manipulaciju i odvraćanje pozornosti od svojih domaćih grešaka.

Đoković je – kakva ironična igra sudbine – bio zatočen u istom hotelu kao i deseci izbjeglica i tražitelja azila. Naizgled u vječnom stanju neizvjesnosti, ne mogu ući u zemlju, niti otputovati iz nje. A njihov pritvor je i dalje relativno luksuzan u usporedbi s nesrećama drugih tražitelja azila u Australiji - tisuće njih umiru u pritvorskim centrima na obali.

Svi oni su žrtve surovosti na granici. Ova opsesija graničnom kontrolom izgleda nespojiva s klasičnom nacijom migranata. Ali to je duboko ukorijenjeno u kulturi Australije.

Stoga nije ni čudo što je prva instinktivna reakcija Australije na pandemiju bila: zatvoriti granice! Bez imalo obzira prema ljudima koje to pogađa.

Kafka u Melbourneu

To je zapravo funkcioniralo dugo vremena. Zemlja je uspjela spriječiti širenje korone impresivno dugo. I ta strategija je bila popularna. Činilo se da su moji sunarodnjaci potajno ponosni na strogu graničnu politiku.

Ali zatvaranje zemlje - kao i uvijek takvi granični režimi - izazvalo je patnju mnogim ljudima. U svakom slučaju, ja već dvije godine ne mogu posjetiti svoju obitelj. I dalje mi to nije dozvoljeno. Iako Australija polako ponovo otvara svoje granice, Zapadna Australija - gdje živi moja obitelj - ostaje zatvorena.

Državljani Australije koji putuju po svijetu mogli su se vratiti kući - tek nakon što plate desetke tisuća dolara. Migranti u Australiji nisu mogli otići posjetiti bolesne rođake jer se ne bi mogli vratiti u svoj novi dom. Tako nešto je viđeno kao neizbježna kolateralna šteta, i prije svega kao dokaz da su mjere funkcionirale.

Uvijek sam znao da je granična politika Australije nehumana. Sada se to tako doživljava u cijelom svijetu. Ali, da je Australija u stanju odreći se vlastitih građana i hladno razdvajati obitelji, to je za mene ipak bilo nezamislivo.

Ako se Đokoviću ipak dozvoli da uđe: odlično za njega! Ali njegova bizarna situacija učinila je kafkijanski granični režim Australije vidljivim cijelom svijetu. Australija mora iskoristiti trenutak da ponovo razmisli o svojoj politici utvrde i stavi dobrobit ljudi iznad jeftinih političkih bodova, piše Deutsche Welle.

Teniska zvijezda Novak Đoković iz prve ruke doživljava surovost australske granične politike. Dobio je vizu i bio ohrabren da uđe u zrakoplov, usprkos njegovim skeptičnim stavovima o cjepivima. Zlonamjerna taktika mamca - jer kada je stigao, Australija mu je pred nosom zalupila vrata.

Vjerojatno su odgovorni pomislili da bi tim potezom u posljednjem trenutku mogli ostvariti dvostruku političku pobjedu.

Sud u Melbourneu je doduše presudio u korist 34-godišnje teniske zvijezde i naredio njegovo trenutačno puštanje iz deportacijskog hotela.

Ali uspjeh na sudu ne jamči da Novak Đoković kao branitelj naslova može sudjelovati na Australian openu od 17. siječnja. Australska vlada je već najavila da će preispitati Đokovićevu vizu, piše Alistair Walsh za Deutsche Welle.

Mnogi Australci vide nazočnost necijepljenog Đokovića kao uvredu za stoičke napore stanovnika Melbournea, koji su mjesecima zatvoreni i masovno cijepljeni čak i ako su bili u nedoumici. Odbijanje ulaska tenisaču stoga je naišlo na njihovo odobravanje.

Međutim, ta odluka je mogla biti donesena prije nego što je krenuo na put. Ali promjena u posljednjem trenutku omogućila je drugu političku pobjedu: izazvala je mini-graničnu krizu i napravila čudo - skretanje pozornosti s katastrofalnog upravljanja pandemijom australske vlade.

Strategija okrutnosti

To je bila laka dvostruka pobjeda. I prati izlizani scenarij Australije o ubiranju političkog kapitala iz okrutnosti na granici. Desetljećima su australski političari svih boja koristili graničnu kontrolu kao polugu za političku manipulaciju i odvraćanje pozornosti od svojih domaćih grešaka.

Đoković je – kakva ironična igra sudbine – bio zatočen u istom hotelu kao i deseci izbjeglica i tražitelja azila. Naizgled u vječnom stanju neizvjesnosti, ne mogu ući u zemlju, niti otputovati iz nje. A njihov pritvor je i dalje relativno luksuzan u usporedbi s nesrećama drugih tražitelja azila u Australiji - tisuće njih umiru u pritvorskim centrima na obali.

Svi oni su žrtve surovosti na granici. Ova opsesija graničnom kontrolom izgleda nespojiva s klasičnom nacijom migranata. Ali to je duboko ukorijenjeno u kulturi Australije.

Stoga nije ni čudo što je prva instinktivna reakcija Australije na pandemiju bila: zatvoriti granice! Bez imalo obzira prema ljudima koje to pogađa.

Kafka u Melbourneu

To je zapravo funkcioniralo dugo vremena. Zemlja je uspjela spriječiti širenje korone impresivno dugo. I ta strategija je bila popularna. Činilo se da su moji sunarodnjaci potajno ponosni na strogu graničnu politiku.

Ali zatvaranje zemlje - kao i uvijek takvi granični režimi - izazvalo je patnju mnogim ljudima. U svakom slučaju, ja već dvije godine ne mogu posjetiti svoju obitelj. I dalje mi to nije dozvoljeno. Iako Australija polako ponovo otvara svoje granice, Zapadna Australija - gdje živi moja obitelj - ostaje zatvorena.

Državljani Australije koji putuju po svijetu mogli su se vratiti kući - tek nakon što plate desetke tisuća dolara. Migranti u Australiji nisu mogli otići posjetiti bolesne rođake jer se ne bi mogli vratiti u svoj novi dom. Tako nešto je viđeno kao neizbježna kolateralna šteta, i prije svega kao dokaz da su mjere funkcionirale.

Uvijek sam znao da je granična politika Australije nehumana. Sada se to tako doživljava u cijelom svijetu. Ali, da je Australija u stanju odreći se vlastitih građana i hladno razdvajati obitelji, to je za mene ipak bilo nezamislivo.

Ako se Đokoviću ipak dozvoli da uđe: odlično za njega! Ali njegova bizarna situacija učinila je kafkijanski granični režim Australije vidljivim cijelom svijetu. Australija mora iskoristiti trenutak da ponovo razmisli o svojoj politici utvrde i stavi dobrobit ljudi iznad jeftinih političkih bodova, piše Deutsche Welle.
