Sveučilište Hong Kong u srijedu je objavilo prvu fotografiju omikron varijante koronavirusa, koju su napravili koristeći elektronski mikroskop.
Znanstvenici među kojima su bili patolozi i virolozi uspjeli su napraviti elektronski mikrograf bubrežne stanice majmuna (Vero E6) nakon što je ona zaražena omikron mutantom SARS-Cov-2 virusa. Kinesko sveučilište objavilo je fotografije omikrona s malim i velikim uvećanjem.
- Pri manjem uvećanju, vidi se stanična šteta s nabreklim vezikulama koje u sebi sadrže male crne viralne čestice, pojasnili su znanstvenici. Fotografija s velikim uvećanjem pokazuje nakupine viralnih čestica sa šiljcima u obliku korone na njihovoj površini.
Ranije u studenome znanstvenici Odjela za mikrobiologiju ovog sveučilišta izolirali su omikron varijantu iz kliničkih uzoraka, što će omogućiti razvoj i proizvodnju cjepiva protiv ove najnovije mutacije.

- Omikron varijanta koronavirusa može zaobići zaštitu koju pruža Pfizerovo i BioNTechovo cjepivo, ali ne u potpunosti – izjavio je za Bloomberg profesor Alex Sigal, virolog s Instituta za istraživanje zdravlja Afrike. Istraživanje koje je vodio njegov tim na osnovu krvnih pretraga zaraženih omikronom pokazalo je bolji rezultat nego što je očekivao.
Profesor Sigal je rekao da bi treća doza značajno mogla pomoći u neutralizaciji ove varijante.
- Booster doza cjepiva zasigurno će osigurat dodatnu zaštitu - ponovio je voditelj laboratorija Afričkog istraživačkog instituta za zdravlje iz Južnoafričke Republike.
Istraživači navode kako je u njihovoj ranoj studiji omikron rezultirao otprilike 40 puta smanjenjem razine neutralizirajućih antitijela koje proizvode ljudi koji su primili dvije doze Pfizer-BioNTech cjepiva u usporedbi s wuhanskim sojem. Podsjećamo i kod delte ja ta zaštita smanjena u odnosu na prvi virus iz Wuhana.

Gubitak imunološke zaštite je velik ali nipošto ne i potpun, zaključio je Sigal.
"Bit će još proboja imuniteta izazvanog cjepivom, no booster doza smanjuje šanse za infekciju, posebno za onu koja vodi do teške kliničke slike. Ljudi koji su cijepljeni s dvije doze trebali bi se cijepiti i trećom, a oni koji su COVID preboljeli trebaju se također cijepiti - ocijenio je znanstvenik.

Sveučilište Hong Kong u srijedu je objavilo prvu fotografiju omikron varijante koronavirusa, koju su napravili koristeći elektronski mikroskop.
Znanstvenici među kojima su bili patolozi i virolozi uspjeli su napraviti elektronski mikrograf bubrežne stanice majmuna (Vero E6) nakon što je ona zaražena omikron mutantom SARS-Cov-2 virusa. Kinesko sveučilište objavilo je fotografije omikrona s malim i velikim uvećanjem.
- Pri manjem uvećanju, vidi se stanična šteta s nabreklim vezikulama koje u sebi sadrže male crne viralne čestice, pojasnili su znanstvenici. Fotografija s velikim uvećanjem pokazuje nakupine viralnih čestica sa šiljcima u obliku korone na njihovoj površini.
Ranije u studenome znanstvenici Odjela za mikrobiologiju ovog sveučilišta izolirali su omikron varijantu iz kliničkih uzoraka, što će omogućiti razvoj i proizvodnju cjepiva protiv ove najnovije mutacije.

- Omikron varijanta koronavirusa može zaobići zaštitu koju pruža Pfizerovo i BioNTechovo cjepivo, ali ne u potpunosti – izjavio je za Bloomberg profesor Alex Sigal, virolog s Instituta za istraživanje zdravlja Afrike. Istraživanje koje je vodio njegov tim na osnovu krvnih pretraga zaraženih omikronom pokazalo je bolji rezultat nego što je očekivao.
Profesor Sigal je rekao da bi treća doza značajno mogla pomoći u neutralizaciji ove varijante.
- Booster doza cjepiva zasigurno će osigurat dodatnu zaštitu - ponovio je voditelj laboratorija Afričkog istraživačkog instituta za zdravlje iz Južnoafričke Republike.
Istraživači navode kako je u njihovoj ranoj studiji omikron rezultirao otprilike 40 puta smanjenjem razine neutralizirajućih antitijela koje proizvode ljudi koji su primili dvije doze Pfizer-BioNTech cjepiva u usporedbi s wuhanskim sojem. Podsjećamo i kod delte ja ta zaštita smanjena u odnosu na prvi virus iz Wuhana.

Gubitak imunološke zaštite je velik ali nipošto ne i potpun, zaključio je Sigal.
"Bit će još proboja imuniteta izazvanog cjepivom, no booster doza smanjuje šanse za infekciju, posebno za onu koja vodi do teške kliničke slike. Ljudi koji su cijepljeni s dvije doze trebali bi se cijepiti i trećom, a oni koji su COVID preboljeli trebaju se također cijepiti - ocijenio je znanstvenik.
