Jordan je u utorak priopćio da je pojačao vojnu nazočnost duž granice s Izraelom i upozorio da bi svaki pokušaj Izraelaca da nasilno potisnu Palestince preko rijeke Jordan predstavljao kršenje međusobnog mirovnog sporazuma.
Premijer Bisher Khasawneh rekao je da će njegova zemlja pribjeći "svim sredstvima koja su joj na raspolaganju" kako bi spriječila Izrael u proveđenju masovnog protjerivanja Palestinaca sa Zapadne obale.
Sukob između Izraela i Gaze potaknuo je dugogodišnje strahove u Jordanu, gdje se nalazi velik broj palestinskih izbjeglica i njihovih potomaka. Desničarski, ultranacionalistički tvrdolinijaši koji su sada u izraelskoj vladi dugo su zagovarali rješenje izraelsko-palestinskog pitanja po principu "Jordan je Palestina".
"Svaka raseljavanja ili stvaranje uvjeta koji bi doveli do toga, Jordan će to smatrati objavom rata i predstavlja materijalno kršenje mirovnog sporazuma", citiraju državni mediji Khasawnehovu izjavu u kojoj se referira na mirovni sporazum s Izraelom iz 1994.
Jordan, druga arapska zemlja nakon Egipta koja je potpisala mirovni sporazum, ima jake sigurnosne veze s Izraelom. No, odnosi su narušeni od dolaska jedne od najviše desno orijentiranih vlada u povijesti Izraela.
"Mirovni sporazum bio bi komad papira na polici prekriven prašinom, ako Izrael neće poštovati svoje obveze ili ih prekršiti", rekao je Khasawneh.
Bilo kakva prijetnja jordanskoj nacionalnoj sigurnosti stavila bi sve opcije na stol, rekao je Khasawneh, dodajući da je nedavno raspoređivanje trupa duž granica s Izraelom dio mjera za zaštitu sigurnosti zemlje.
Stanovnici i svjedoci vidjeli su u posljednjih nekoliko dana dugačke kolone oklopnih vozila i tenkova kako se kreću glavnom autocestom koja vodi u Jordansku dolinu nasuprot Zapadne obale.
Dužnosnici kažu da je vojska već bila u stanju pojačane pripravnosti za sve moguće situacije.
Khasawneh je rekao da bi izraelske akcije na Zapadnoj obali mogle izazvati širenje nasilja, navodeći sve češće napade židovskih doseljenika na palestinske civile od Hamasovog napada 7. listopada.
Washington je također pozvao Izrael da obuzda nasilje doseljenika, strahujući od širenja sukoba.
"Izrael bi se trebao kloniti bilo kakve eskalacije na Zapadnoj obali... Ovo je crvena linija koju Jordan neće prihvatiti", dodao je premijer.

Jordan je u utorak priopćio da je pojačao vojnu nazočnost duž granice s Izraelom i upozorio da bi svaki pokušaj Izraelaca da nasilno potisnu Palestince preko rijeke Jordan predstavljao kršenje međusobnog mirovnog sporazuma.
Premijer Bisher Khasawneh rekao je da će njegova zemlja pribjeći "svim sredstvima koja su joj na raspolaganju" kako bi spriječila Izrael u proveđenju masovnog protjerivanja Palestinaca sa Zapadne obale.
Sukob između Izraela i Gaze potaknuo je dugogodišnje strahove u Jordanu, gdje se nalazi velik broj palestinskih izbjeglica i njihovih potomaka. Desničarski, ultranacionalistički tvrdolinijaši koji su sada u izraelskoj vladi dugo su zagovarali rješenje izraelsko-palestinskog pitanja po principu "Jordan je Palestina".
"Svaka raseljavanja ili stvaranje uvjeta koji bi doveli do toga, Jordan će to smatrati objavom rata i predstavlja materijalno kršenje mirovnog sporazuma", citiraju državni mediji Khasawnehovu izjavu u kojoj se referira na mirovni sporazum s Izraelom iz 1994.
Jordan, druga arapska zemlja nakon Egipta koja je potpisala mirovni sporazum, ima jake sigurnosne veze s Izraelom. No, odnosi su narušeni od dolaska jedne od najviše desno orijentiranih vlada u povijesti Izraela.
"Mirovni sporazum bio bi komad papira na polici prekriven prašinom, ako Izrael neće poštovati svoje obveze ili ih prekršiti", rekao je Khasawneh.
Bilo kakva prijetnja jordanskoj nacionalnoj sigurnosti stavila bi sve opcije na stol, rekao je Khasawneh, dodajući da je nedavno raspoređivanje trupa duž granica s Izraelom dio mjera za zaštitu sigurnosti zemlje.
Stanovnici i svjedoci vidjeli su u posljednjih nekoliko dana dugačke kolone oklopnih vozila i tenkova kako se kreću glavnom autocestom koja vodi u Jordansku dolinu nasuprot Zapadne obale.
Dužnosnici kažu da je vojska već bila u stanju pojačane pripravnosti za sve moguće situacije.
Khasawneh je rekao da bi izraelske akcije na Zapadnoj obali mogle izazvati širenje nasilja, navodeći sve češće napade židovskih doseljenika na palestinske civile od Hamasovog napada 7. listopada.
Washington je također pozvao Izrael da obuzda nasilje doseljenika, strahujući od širenja sukoba.
"Izrael bi se trebao kloniti bilo kakve eskalacije na Zapadnoj obali... Ovo je crvena linija koju Jordan neće prihvatiti", dodao je premijer.
