Pomrčina Sunca, pojava kada Mjesec prođe između Zemlje i Sunca, atraktivan je i relativno rijedak fenomen koji redovito privlači pažnju javnosti. Dok se "obične" pomrčine Sunca događaju nekoliko puta godišnje, potpuna pomrčina Sunca zbiva se svakih 18 mjeseci, pa i rjeđe, zato je i atraktivnija. U prethodnim događajima potpune pomrčine, primjerice 2017. godine, neka su područja navodno imala gužve koje su trajale čak 13 sati.

Kanadska regija Niagara proglasila je izvanredno stanje uoči rijetke potpune pomrčine Sunca koja će se dogoditi 8. travnja, a za koju se očekuje da će se okupiti preko milijun ljudi oko popularnih slapova. Regionalni predsjednik Jim Bradley proglasio je izvanredno stanje, kako je naveo, iz opreza. 

"Proglašenje izvanrednog stanja ... jača alate koje regija ima na raspolaganju za očuvanje zdravlja i sigurnosti stanovnika i posjetitelja i zaštitu naše kritične infrastrukture u bilo kojem scenariju koji bi se mogao pojaviti", stoji u priopćenju za javnost regije Niagara. 

Mnogi će putovati daleko kako bi imali najbolji pogled na pomrčinu, pa se očekuje gužva na cestama. Aixa Diaz, glasnogovornica Američkog automobilističkog udruženja, upozorila je sve koji planiraju gledati pomrčinu: "Naoružajte se strpljenjem, bez obzira na to putujete li daleko ili blizu, ljudi će biti vani kako bi uhvatili pogled na pomrčinu".

Vodopad, smješten uz kanadsko-američku granicu, nalazi se na putu pomrčine, a mnogi ljudi unaprijed troše na hotele i iznajmljivanje kako bi iskusili fenomen u jednom od sjevernoameričkih prirodnih čuda.

Gradonačelnik grada Niagara Falls u Ontariju Jim Diodati predvidio je da će imati daleko najveću posjetu koju su dosad imali na kanadskoj strani za pomrčinu. Diodati je procijenio da će tamo biti do milijun ljudi, u usporedbi s 14 milijuna koji ih obično posjećuju tijekom cijele godine.

Regija će također modificirati neke od svojih programa i usluga i zatvoriti neke objekte kako bi zaustavila promet s cesta 8. travnja.

Ljudi su pozvani su da napune vozila gorivom, ali i da se opskrbe hranom i pićem.

Savjetovano je i izbjegavanje putovanja tijekom vikenda prije. EMA je upozorila da bi moglo biti problema s signalom mobitela tijekom događaja zbog povećane aktivnosti. Sama pomrčina trebala bi trajati između dvije i četiri minute.

Pomrčina Sunca, pojava kada Mjesec prođe između Zemlje i Sunca, atraktivan je i relativno rijedak fenomen koji redovito privlači pažnju javnosti. Dok se "obične" pomrčine Sunca događaju nekoliko puta godišnje, potpuna pomrčina Sunca zbiva se svakih 18 mjeseci, pa i rjeđe, zato je i atraktivnija. U prethodnim događajima potpune pomrčine, primjerice 2017. godine, neka su područja navodno imala gužve koje su trajale čak 13 sati.

Kanadska regija Niagara proglasila je izvanredno stanje uoči rijetke potpune pomrčine Sunca koja će se dogoditi 8. travnja, a za koju se očekuje da će se okupiti preko milijun ljudi oko popularnih slapova. Regionalni predsjednik Jim Bradley proglasio je izvanredno stanje, kako je naveo, iz opreza. 

"Proglašenje izvanrednog stanja ... jača alate koje regija ima na raspolaganju za očuvanje zdravlja i sigurnosti stanovnika i posjetitelja i zaštitu naše kritične infrastrukture u bilo kojem scenariju koji bi se mogao pojaviti", stoji u priopćenju za javnost regije Niagara. 

Mnogi će putovati daleko kako bi imali najbolji pogled na pomrčinu, pa se očekuje gužva na cestama. Aixa Diaz, glasnogovornica Američkog automobilističkog udruženja, upozorila je sve koji planiraju gledati pomrčinu: "Naoružajte se strpljenjem, bez obzira na to putujete li daleko ili blizu, ljudi će biti vani kako bi uhvatili pogled na pomrčinu".

Vodopad, smješten uz kanadsko-američku granicu, nalazi se na putu pomrčine, a mnogi ljudi unaprijed troše na hotele i iznajmljivanje kako bi iskusili fenomen u jednom od sjevernoameričkih prirodnih čuda.

Gradonačelnik grada Niagara Falls u Ontariju Jim Diodati predvidio je da će imati daleko najveću posjetu koju su dosad imali na kanadskoj strani za pomrčinu. Diodati je procijenio da će tamo biti do milijun ljudi, u usporedbi s 14 milijuna koji ih obično posjećuju tijekom cijele godine.

Regija će također modificirati neke od svojih programa i usluga i zatvoriti neke objekte kako bi zaustavila promet s cesta 8. travnja.

Ljudi su pozvani su da napune vozila gorivom, ali i da se opskrbe hranom i pićem.

Savjetovano je i izbjegavanje putovanja tijekom vikenda prije. EMA je upozorila da bi moglo biti problema s signalom mobitela tijekom događaja zbog povećane aktivnosti. Sama pomrčina trebala bi trajati između dvije i četiri minute.
