New York bi trebao biti i prva država u SAD-u koja će koristiti pripravke iz plazme u liječnju oboljelih od bolesti COVID-19.

Stanje u Velikoj jabuci je teško i guverner New Yorka Andrew Cuomo u dramatičnom je obraćanju pozvao federalne američke vlasti na pomoć u nabavci medicinske opreme. Kazao je kako će broj oboljelih od Covid-19 u toj američkoj državi biti mnogo veći nego što se trenutno zamišlja.

- Zaraza se širi brže i snažnije nego što smo očekivali – rekao je Cuomo požalivši se da federalne vlasti ne šalju dovoljno opreme u New York, gdje je do jučer bilo 25 tisuća zaraženih i preko 200 umrlih.

Upozorio je da New York trenutno ima sedam tisuća respiratora, što mu je apsolutno nedovoljno.

U nedostatku cjepiva i antivirusnih lijekova, istraživači sa Sveučilišta „Johns Hopkins“ u Baltimoreu smatraju kako je ključ za usporavanje i liječenje koronavirusa skriven u krvi onih koji su se preboljeli bolest.

Metoda korištenja „obnavljajućeg seruma“, odnosno skupljanja protutijela koja se bore protiv virusa iz krvi prethodno zaraženih pacijenata, nije ništa novo i datira više od jednog stoljeća, ali se već desetljećima nije primjenjivala u Sjedinjenim Državama. Američki mediji, među kojima i NBC News najavljuju kako bi New York mogao biti prva njihova država u kojoj će se testirati liječenje koronavirusa krvlju oporavljenih pacijenata.

I prije njih istraživanja su počeli raditi kineski i japanski znanstvenici, a Japanci su još u veljači otvorili posebnu kliniku za serumsku terapiju u Shanghaiju. Japanska farmaceutska kompanija Takeda pokušava iz krvne plazme pacijenata koji su ozdravili stvoriti mješavinu antitijela koju su nazvali TAK-888.

Ako se antitijela izdvojena iz krvi onih koji su preboljeli  COVID-19, izoliraju i očiste, stvara se „pasivna imunizacija". To nije isto što i cjepivo, jer antitijela nije proizveo organizam cijepljene osobe.

Tom metodom je poznati njemački imunolog, Nobelovac Emil von Behring prije 100 godina spasio tisuće života. Nedostatak takve pasivne imunizacije je, između ostalog, i to što ona može potrajati samo nekoliko mjeseci, no u sadašnjoj situaciji može spasiti tisuće života najkritičnijih slučajeva koji uz zarazu imaju i teške kronične bolesti.

Američki liječnici kažu kako bi takvo liječenje, iako pomalo primitivno, moglo biti najbolja nada za borbu protiv koronavirusa dok se ne razviju sofisticiranije terapije, što bi moglo potrajati nekoliko mjeseci.

I tijekom epidemije španjolske gripe 1918. godine, znanstvenici su zaključili da transfuzija krvnih pripravaka dobivenih od preživjelih dovodi do smanjenja smrtnosti od 50 posto među teško bolesnim pacijentima. Slična strategija korištena je za liječenje i usporavanje širenja epidemije ospica, ali su tu metodu u zapećak bacili novi izumi, odnosno stvaranje  učinkovitih cjepiva i antivirusnih lijekova.  

Terapija krvnim serumom primijenjena je i 2014. godine kada se pojavila pandemija ebole. Kad se kasnije počela širiti u Kongu, lijek u serumu u krvi spriječio je širenje virusa na druge ljudske stanice, a stopa smrtnosti smanjena je za oko 30 posto.

New York bi trebao biti i prva država u SAD-u koja će koristiti pripravke iz plazme u liječnju oboljelih od bolesti COVID-19.

Stanje u Velikoj jabuci je teško i guverner New Yorka Andrew Cuomo u dramatičnom je obraćanju pozvao federalne američke vlasti na pomoć u nabavci medicinske opreme. Kazao je kako će broj oboljelih od Covid-19 u toj američkoj državi biti mnogo veći nego što se trenutno zamišlja.

- Zaraza se širi brže i snažnije nego što smo očekivali – rekao je Cuomo požalivši se da federalne vlasti ne šalju dovoljno opreme u New York, gdje je do jučer bilo 25 tisuća zaraženih i preko 200 umrlih.

Upozorio je da New York trenutno ima sedam tisuća respiratora, što mu je apsolutno nedovoljno.

U nedostatku cjepiva i antivirusnih lijekova, istraživači sa Sveučilišta „Johns Hopkins“ u Baltimoreu smatraju kako je ključ za usporavanje i liječenje koronavirusa skriven u krvi onih koji su se preboljeli bolest.

Metoda korištenja „obnavljajućeg seruma“, odnosno skupljanja protutijela koja se bore protiv virusa iz krvi prethodno zaraženih pacijenata, nije ništa novo i datira više od jednog stoljeća, ali se već desetljećima nije primjenjivala u Sjedinjenim Državama. Američki mediji, među kojima i NBC News najavljuju kako bi New York mogao biti prva njihova država u kojoj će se testirati liječenje koronavirusa krvlju oporavljenih pacijenata.

I prije njih istraživanja su počeli raditi kineski i japanski znanstvenici, a Japanci su još u veljači otvorili posebnu kliniku za serumsku terapiju u Shanghaiju. Japanska farmaceutska kompanija Takeda pokušava iz krvne plazme pacijenata koji su ozdravili stvoriti mješavinu antitijela koju su nazvali TAK-888.

Ako se antitijela izdvojena iz krvi onih koji su preboljeli  COVID-19, izoliraju i očiste, stvara se „pasivna imunizacija". To nije isto što i cjepivo, jer antitijela nije proizveo organizam cijepljene osobe.

Tom metodom je poznati njemački imunolog, Nobelovac Emil von Behring prije 100 godina spasio tisuće života. Nedostatak takve pasivne imunizacije je, između ostalog, i to što ona može potrajati samo nekoliko mjeseci, no u sadašnjoj situaciji može spasiti tisuće života najkritičnijih slučajeva koji uz zarazu imaju i teške kronične bolesti.

Američki liječnici kažu kako bi takvo liječenje, iako pomalo primitivno, moglo biti najbolja nada za borbu protiv koronavirusa dok se ne razviju sofisticiranije terapije, što bi moglo potrajati nekoliko mjeseci.

I tijekom epidemije španjolske gripe 1918. godine, znanstvenici su zaključili da transfuzija krvnih pripravaka dobivenih od preživjelih dovodi do smanjenja smrtnosti od 50 posto među teško bolesnim pacijentima. Slična strategija korištena je za liječenje i usporavanje širenja epidemije ospica, ali su tu metodu u zapećak bacili novi izumi, odnosno stvaranje  učinkovitih cjepiva i antivirusnih lijekova.  

Terapija krvnim serumom primijenjena je i 2014. godine kada se pojavila pandemija ebole. Kad se kasnije počela širiti u Kongu, lijek u serumu u krvi spriječio je širenje virusa na druge ljudske stanice, a stopa smrtnosti smanjena je za oko 30 posto.

New York bi trebao biti i prva država u SAD-u koja će koristiti pripravke iz plazme u liječnju oboljelih od bolesti COVID-19.

Stanje u Velikoj jabuci je teško i guverner New Yorka Andrew Cuomo u dramatičnom je obraćanju pozvao federalne američke vlasti na pomoć u nabavci medicinske opreme. Kazao je kako će broj oboljelih od Covid-19 u toj američkoj državi biti mnogo veći nego što se trenutno zamišlja.

- Zaraza se širi brže i snažnije nego što smo očekivali – rekao je Cuomo požalivši se da federalne vlasti ne šalju dovoljno opreme u New York, gdje je do jučer bilo 25 tisuća zaraženih i preko 200 umrlih.

Upozorio je da New York trenutno ima sedam tisuća respiratora, što mu je apsolutno nedovoljno.
