Uz postojeća mRNA cjepiva protiv koronavirusa (Pfizer i Moderna) i vektorska (AstraZeneca i Janssen) u Hrvatsku će, nakon što ga odobri Europska agencija za lijekove (EMA) stići i proteinsko cjepivo kompanije Sanofi. Naručeno je oko 300.000 doza.
Sanofi svoje cjepivo razvija u suradnji s britanskom kompanijom Glaxo Smith Kline, a temelji se na tehnologiji koju Sanofi koristi za proizvodnju postojećeg cjepiva protiv sezonske gripe. No, u slučaju cjepiva protiv covida kao antigen se koristi protein šiljka (S) koji potiče imunološki sustav na proizvodnju antitijela protiv koronavirusa. Cjepivo je sada u trećoj fazi kliničkih ispitivanja i očekuje se da bi ga EMA mogla odobriti krajem ove godine.
Mnogi se pitaju zašto se troši novac na kupnju još jednog cjepiva kad nema dovoljno interesa ni za postojeća, kojima rok istječe, no novo cjepivo bilo bi jeftinije od mRNA cjepiva, a također prema dosadašnjim istraživanjima ima nizak postotak nuspojava.

Ugledni virusni imunolog prof. dr. Luka Čičin-Šain iz Centra za infektološka istraživanja Helmholtz u Braunschweigu za HTV je kazao tehnologija proteinskog cjepiva već dobro poznata i korištena ranije u brojnim drugim cjepivima, poput cjepiva protiv hepatitisa B.
- U ovom slučaju radi se o proteinu šiljka koji je pročišćen te je dat u formulaciji cjepiva, zajedno s nekim dodatnim tvarima koje iritiraju imunosni sustav i onda ga potiču da se aktivira. Ta tvar dobiva se iz različitih prirodnih resursa. Postoji u jetri morskih pasa i zato se zove skvalen, ali je ovdje, naravno, proizvedena u laboratoriju. Kada se to pomiješa s pročišćenim proteinom šiljka, onda je riječ o cjepivu koje je prilično sigurno, kazao je znanstvenik za HTV. Dodao je da su završene dvije faze kliničkog istraživanja koje su pokazale da je cjepivo prilično efikasno, a u tijeku su istraživanja treće faze.
Naveo je da istraživači, svaki novi podatak u vezi s cjepivom dostavljaju Europskoj agenciji za lijekove kako bi ona mogla vidjeti je li doista istina ono što tvrde proizvođači - da je njihovo cjepivo i sigurno i efikasno.
Najzanimljivijim u vezi s novim cjepivom smatra to da se radi o prokušanoj metodi koja je testirana na brojnim drugim cjepivima, prisutnima na tržištu desecima godina.

- Zbog toga, ljudi koji su do sada zazirali od cjepiva, sada imaju dodatan razlog da se osjećaju sigurno i isprobaju ovo cjepivo. Ako bi ono bilo problem, onda bi trebala biti problem i sva druga cjepiva koja su već testirana desecima godina na milijunima ljudi. Novo cjepivo je dobra vijest. To je nešto što bi moglo pomoći u Hrvatskoj, da ljudi koji su dosad bili oprezni i nisu se usudili cijepiti, ipak se na to odluče, istaknuo je Čičin-Šain.
Cjepivo slabije aktivira imunosni sustav od mRNA cjepiva, pa je pitanje koliko će biti efikasno kod starijih ljudi iznad 70 godina, dok je za očekivati da će kod mlađih djelovati uspješno.
I ovdje se radi o cjepivu koje dolazi u dvije doze pa treba vidjeti njegovu efikasnost nakon druge doze.
- To je slično kao i s mRNA cjepivom. Moguće je čak da će biti i treća doza, ali je prerano o tome govoriti. Treću dozu spominjem jer je to standardan protokol kod cjepiva protiv hepatitisa B. Druga doza ide mjesec dana nakon prve, a za šest mjeseci ide treća. I onda ste potpuno zaštićeni protiv hepatitisa B, izjavio je virusni imunolog Luka Čičin-Šain.

Uz postojeća mRNA cjepiva protiv koronavirusa (Pfizer i Moderna) i vektorska (AstraZeneca i Janssen) u Hrvatsku će, nakon što ga odobri Europska agencija za lijekove (EMA) stići i proteinsko cjepivo kompanije Sanofi. Naručeno je oko 300.000 doza.
Sanofi svoje cjepivo razvija u suradnji s britanskom kompanijom Glaxo Smith Kline, a temelji se na tehnologiji koju Sanofi koristi za proizvodnju postojećeg cjepiva protiv sezonske gripe. No, u slučaju cjepiva protiv covida kao antigen se koristi protein šiljka (S) koji potiče imunološki sustav na proizvodnju antitijela protiv koronavirusa. Cjepivo je sada u trećoj fazi kliničkih ispitivanja i očekuje se da bi ga EMA mogla odobriti krajem ove godine.
Mnogi se pitaju zašto se troši novac na kupnju još jednog cjepiva kad nema dovoljno interesa ni za postojeća, kojima rok istječe, no novo cjepivo bilo bi jeftinije od mRNA cjepiva, a također prema dosadašnjim istraživanjima ima nizak postotak nuspojava.

Ugledni virusni imunolog prof. dr. Luka Čičin-Šain iz Centra za infektološka istraživanja Helmholtz u Braunschweigu za HTV je kazao tehnologija proteinskog cjepiva već dobro poznata i korištena ranije u brojnim drugim cjepivima, poput cjepiva protiv hepatitisa B.
- U ovom slučaju radi se o proteinu šiljka koji je pročišćen te je dat u formulaciji cjepiva, zajedno s nekim dodatnim tvarima koje iritiraju imunosni sustav i onda ga potiču da se aktivira. Ta tvar dobiva se iz različitih prirodnih resursa. Postoji u jetri morskih pasa i zato se zove skvalen, ali je ovdje, naravno, proizvedena u laboratoriju. Kada se to pomiješa s pročišćenim proteinom šiljka, onda je riječ o cjepivu koje je prilično sigurno, kazao je znanstvenik za HTV. Dodao je da su završene dvije faze kliničkog istraživanja koje su pokazale da je cjepivo prilično efikasno, a u tijeku su istraživanja treće faze.
Naveo je da istraživači, svaki novi podatak u vezi s cjepivom dostavljaju Europskoj agenciji za lijekove kako bi ona mogla vidjeti je li doista istina ono što tvrde proizvođači - da je njihovo cjepivo i sigurno i efikasno.
Najzanimljivijim u vezi s novim cjepivom smatra to da se radi o prokušanoj metodi koja je testirana na brojnim drugim cjepivima, prisutnima na tržištu desecima godina.

- Zbog toga, ljudi koji su do sada zazirali od cjepiva, sada imaju dodatan razlog da se osjećaju sigurno i isprobaju ovo cjepivo. Ako bi ono bilo problem, onda bi trebala biti problem i sva druga cjepiva koja su već testirana desecima godina na milijunima ljudi. Novo cjepivo je dobra vijest. To je nešto što bi moglo pomoći u Hrvatskoj, da ljudi koji su dosad bili oprezni i nisu se usudili cijepiti, ipak se na to odluče, istaknuo je Čičin-Šain.
Cjepivo slabije aktivira imunosni sustav od mRNA cjepiva, pa je pitanje koliko će biti efikasno kod starijih ljudi iznad 70 godina, dok je za očekivati da će kod mlađih djelovati uspješno.
I ovdje se radi o cjepivu koje dolazi u dvije doze pa treba vidjeti njegovu efikasnost nakon druge doze.
- To je slično kao i s mRNA cjepivom. Moguće je čak da će biti i treća doza, ali je prerano o tome govoriti. Treću dozu spominjem jer je to standardan protokol kod cjepiva protiv hepatitisa B. Druga doza ide mjesec dana nakon prve, a za šest mjeseci ide treća. I onda ste potpuno zaštićeni protiv hepatitisa B, izjavio je virusni imunolog Luka Čičin-Šain.
