Hrvatski tenisači Nikola Mektić i Mate Pavić branit će naslov pobjednika Wimbledona u konkurenciji parova nakon što su u polufinalu trećeg teniskog  Grand Slam turnira sezone pobijedili Kolumbijce Sebastiana Cabala i Roberta Faraha sa 6-7 (2), 7-6 (0), 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4) nakon četiri sata i 22 minute igre.

Mektić i Pavić su time došli do 11. uzastopne pobjede u Wimbledonu i sada su samo na koraka od obrane naslova.

U drugom polufinalu Australci Matthew Ebden i Max Purcell su također nakon drame pet setova pobijedili Britanca Joea Salisburyja i Amerikanca Rajeeva Rama sa 3-6, 6-7 (1), 7-6 (9), 6-4, 6-2. Zanimljivo, Ram i Salisbury su u trećem setu imali pet meč lopti, no nisu ih iskoristili, a kasnije su izgubili i meč.

Kolumbijci Cabal i Farah su osvojili Wimbledonu 2019. godine, tijekom 2020. nije se igralo na londonskoj travi zbog pandemije koronavirusa, dok su prošle godine u All England Clubu slavili Mektić i Pavić, koji će ove godine imati priliku obraniti naslov. Posljednji koji su obranili naslov u konkurenciji parova bili su Kanađanin Daniel Nestor i Srbin Nenad Zimonjić 2008. i 2009.

Hrvatski i kolumbijski par odigrali su fantastičan meč prepun obrata, ali brojnih zanimljivosti. Bio je to neobičan meč u kojem je Pavić ozlijedio desnu ruku, Mektić dobio reketom po usnici, a nakon trećeg seta uslijedila je pauza kako bi se  zatvorio krov, no meganizam je zapinjao pa se sve odužilo.

Počelo je sjajno za hrvatske tenisače. Već u prvom gemu oduzeli su servis suparnicima, no Kolumbijci su odmah uzvratili izjednačivši na 1-1. Do kraja seta više nije bilo oduzetih servisa, pa je odlučivala trinaesta igra. Farah i Cabal su poveli 2-0, pa 4-1 i 5-2 nakon čega je set otišao na njihovu stranu. 

Pavić se tijekom tiebreaka poskliznuo i pao na ruku zbog čega je morao zatražiti liječničku pomoć. Usprkos bolovima nastavio je meč, a kasnije gotovo uopće nije koristio desnu ruku osim za izbačaj na servisu.

U drugom setu oba su para držala svoje servise pa je odluka ponovo pala u tiebreaku koji su Pavić i Mektić odigrali savršeno, bez izgubljenog poena (7-0).

Nova nezgoda hrvatskog para dogodila se u trećem setu pri rezultatu 4-3 za Kolumbijce. Pavić je reketom naletio na Mektića i razderao mu usnicu. Nakon što je završio gem, Mektić je uzeo mobitel kako bi provjerio stanje sa zubima i usnicom, a potom napravio selfie s Pavićem na oduševljenje publike. Nažalost, taj je set otišao na kolumbijsku stranu sa 6-4 uz break u posljednjem gemu.

Nakon trećeg seta organizatori su odlučili zatvoriti krov, međutim mehanizam je zapinjao pa se sve odušilo više od počekivanog. No, pauza je očito dobro došla olimpijskim pobjednicim jer su Pavić i Mektić s dva breaka brzo priveli set kraju (6-2) izjednačivši na 2-2.

U odlučujućem, petom setu oba su para čvrsto držala servise do rezultata 5-4 kada su Kolumbijci na Mektićev servis došli do meč lopte. Srećom, hrvatski par se izvukao i odveo meč u "super tie-break" u kojem je hrvatska kombinacija nakon 3-3 osvojila sedam od sljedećih osam poena.

Hrvatski tenisači Nikola Mektić i Mate Pavić branit će naslov pobjednika Wimbledona u konkurenciji parova nakon što su u polufinalu trećeg teniskog  Grand Slam turnira sezone pobijedili Kolumbijce Sebastiana Cabala i Roberta Faraha sa 6-7 (2), 7-6 (0), 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4) nakon četiri sata i 22 minute igre.

Mektić i Pavić su time došli do 11. uzastopne pobjede u Wimbledonu i sada su samo na koraka od obrane naslova.

U drugom polufinalu Australci Matthew Ebden i Max Purcell su također nakon drame pet setova pobijedili Britanca Joea Salisburyja i Amerikanca Rajeeva Rama sa 3-6, 6-7 (1), 7-6 (9), 6-4, 6-2. Zanimljivo, Ram i Salisbury su u trećem setu imali pet meč lopti, no nisu ih iskoristili, a kasnije su izgubili i meč.

Kolumbijci Cabal i Farah su osvojili Wimbledonu 2019. godine, tijekom 2020. nije se igralo na londonskoj travi zbog pandemije koronavirusa, dok su prošle godine u All England Clubu slavili Mektić i Pavić, koji će ove godine imati priliku obraniti naslov. Posljednji koji su obranili naslov u konkurenciji parova bili su Kanađanin Daniel Nestor i Srbin Nenad Zimonjić 2008. i 2009.

Hrvatski i kolumbijski par odigrali su fantastičan meč prepun obrata, ali brojnih zanimljivosti. Bio je to neobičan meč u kojem je Pavić ozlijedio desnu ruku, Mektić dobio reketom po usnici, a nakon trećeg seta uslijedila je pauza kako bi se  zatvorio krov, no meganizam je zapinjao pa se sve odužilo.

Počelo je sjajno za hrvatske tenisače. Već u prvom gemu oduzeli su servis suparnicima, no Kolumbijci su odmah uzvratili izjednačivši na 1-1. Do kraja seta više nije bilo oduzetih servisa, pa je odlučivala trinaesta igra. Farah i Cabal su poveli 2-0, pa 4-1 i 5-2 nakon čega je set otišao na njihovu stranu. 

Pavić se tijekom tiebreaka poskliznuo i pao na ruku zbog čega je morao zatražiti liječničku pomoć. Usprkos bolovima nastavio je meč, a kasnije gotovo uopće nije koristio desnu ruku osim za izbačaj na servisu.

U drugom setu oba su para držala svoje servise pa je odluka ponovo pala u tiebreaku koji su Pavić i Mektić odigrali savršeno, bez izgubljenog poena (7-0).

Nova nezgoda hrvatskog para dogodila se u trećem setu pri rezultatu 4-3 za Kolumbijce. Pavić je reketom naletio na Mektića i razderao mu usnicu. Nakon što je završio gem, Mektić je uzeo mobitel kako bi provjerio stanje sa zubima i usnicom, a potom napravio selfie s Pavićem na oduševljenje publike. Nažalost, taj je set otišao na kolumbijsku stranu sa 6-4 uz break u posljednjem gemu.

Nakon trećeg seta organizatori su odlučili zatvoriti krov, međutim mehanizam je zapinjao pa se sve odušilo više od počekivanog. No, pauza je očito dobro došla olimpijskim pobjednicim jer su Pavić i Mektić s dva breaka brzo priveli set kraju (6-2) izjednačivši na 2-2.

U odlučujućem, petom setu oba su para čvrsto držala servise do rezultata 5-4 kada su Kolumbijci na Mektićev servis došli do meč lopte. Srećom, hrvatski par se izvukao i odveo meč u "super tie-break" u kojem je hrvatska kombinacija nakon 3-3 osvojila sedam od sljedećih osam poena.

Pavić i Mektić u spektakularnom meču prepunom sjajnih poena i poteza izborili još jedno finale

Hrvatski tenisači Nikola Mektić i Mate Pavić branit će naslov pobjednika Wimbledona u konkurenciji parova nakon što su u polufinalu trećeg teniskog  Grand Slam turnira sezone pobijedili Kolumbijce Sebastiana Cabala i Roberta Faraha sa 6-7 (2), 7-6 (0), 4-6, 6-2, 7-6 (4) nakon četiri sata i 22 minute igre.

Mektić i Pavić su time došli do 11. uzastopne pobjede u Wimbledonu i sada su samo na koraka od obrane naslova.

U drugom polufinalu Australci Matthew Ebden i Max Purcell su također nakon drame pet setova pobijedili Britanca Joea Salisburyja i Amerikanca Rajeeva Rama sa 3-6, 6-7 (1), 7-6 (9), 6-4, 6-2. Zanimljivo, Ram i Salisbury su u trećem setu imali pet meč lopti, no nisu ih iskoristili, a kasnije su izgubili i meč.

Kolumbijci Cabal i Farah su osvojili Wimbledonu 2019....
