Ivan Cinkuš više nije trener Marina Čilića. Gotovo osam godina, uz jedan duži prekid, trajala je suradnja osvajača US Opena 2014. i 42-godišnjeg Zagrepčanina, koji mu se pridružio još dok je u stožeru bio Goran Ivanišević.

S Čilićem je otad prošao sve najveće uspjehe, uključujući i dva finala Grand Slama (Wimbledon 2017., Australian Open 2018.) te Masters u Cincinnatiju, a razlaz je stigao pomalo naprasno. Nakon što se Marin ozlijedio u Australiji i završio na operaciji, zaključio je da kroz sljedećih nekoliko mjeseci, dok traje rehabilitacija, neće trebati Cinkuševe usluge. Njegov jedini trener zasad ostaje Vilim Višak - pišu Sportske novosti.

- Da, tako se dogodilo. Ne znamo koliko će dugo Marin izbivati, prognoza od pet, šest mjeseci stoji ako sve bude idealno, a ako ne, možda će povratak biti i duži. On bi se htio vratiti do Roland Garrosa, ali pitanje je koliko će biti spreman igrati na tri dobivena seta. Što se Wimbledona tiče, to je ipak trava, postoji rizik da se posklizneš. Sad je teško biti pametan, ali bolje je pričekati - rekao nam je Cinkuš.

Poklopilo se da mu se odmah ukazala nova prilika: već od sljedećeg tjedna počet će trenirati s 23-godišnjim Srbinom Miomirom Kecmanovićem (ATP 33.), a prvi zajednički turnir bit će im Acapulco.

- Budući da je Kecmanović dao otkaz Nalbandianu, upitao me bi li mu se htio pridružiti. Obavijestio sam Marina, on je rekao ‘OK‘ i to je bilo to.

Iz Cinkuševih se riječi moglo naslutiti da razlaz s donedavno najboljim hrvatskim tenisačem nije bio očekivan, no umjesto toga smo ga upitali na što je u ovom posljednjem razdoblju bio najponosniji.

- Teško je uspoređivati rezultate s onom našom prvom, dužom epizodom, ali kad smo krenuli, minimalni cilj je bio ući u Top 20. A Marin se vratio u top 15 i to je stvarno bilo odlično. Na kraju sezone je malo kiksao na dva turnira, ali Bože moj, sa 34. mjesta se vratio među najbolje na svijetu. Super smo odradili pripreme za novu sezonu, atmosfera je stvarno bila pozitivna i onda se dogodila ozljeda.

"Ne postoji čarobni štapić"

Na pitanje koliko je visoko postavio letvicu s Kecmanovićem, odgovara da za početak treba poraditi na samopouzdanju.

- Dečko igra dobar tenis, samo mu fali malo pozitive. Sad je u Dallasu izgubio meč koji je trebao dobiti (Gómez, nap. a.), i rekao sam mu da ću doći prije Acapulca da odradimo nekoliko treninga i da se upoznamo. Kecmanović je mladi igrač i treba mu rada i discipline, a ne ga samo prepustiti samome sebi. Koliko sam shvatio iz njegovih riječi, u suradnji s Nalbandianom dosta toga nije bilo definirano.

Cinkuš ističe da je komunikacija između trenera i igrača ključna, jer kad to "šteka", onda pate i rezultati.

- Svi misle kako će im bivši igrači donijeti čarobni štapić, a ne ide to baš tako. Trener i igrač moraju zajedno proći sve najvažnije stvari i usuglasiti se. Ne znam kako će biti s Kecmanovićem, možda ću ja tražiti previše, možda on, ali siguran sam da je potencijal za Top 20. Acapulco nam je prvi turnir, bit će sigurno puno informacija s obje strane, a onda ćemo dalje vidjeti.

Ivan Cinkuš više nije trener Marina Čilića. Gotovo osam godina, uz jedan duži prekid, trajala je suradnja osvajača US Opena 2014. i 42-godišnjeg Zagrepčanina, koji mu se pridružio još dok je u stožeru bio Goran Ivanišević.

S Čilićem je otad prošao sve najveće uspjehe, uključujući i dva finala Grand Slama (Wimbledon 2017., Australian Open 2018.) te Masters u Cincinnatiju, a razlaz je stigao pomalo naprasno. Nakon što se Marin ozlijedio u Australiji i završio na operaciji, zaključio je da kroz sljedećih nekoliko mjeseci, dok traje rehabilitacija, neće trebati Cinkuševe usluge. Njegov jedini trener zasad ostaje Vilim Višak - pišu Sportske novosti.

- Da, tako se dogodilo. Ne znamo koliko će dugo Marin izbivati, prognoza od pet, šest mjeseci stoji ako sve bude idealno, a ako ne, možda će povratak biti i duži. On bi se htio vratiti do Roland Garrosa, ali pitanje je koliko će biti spreman igrati na tri dobivena seta. Što se Wimbledona tiče, to je ipak trava, postoji rizik da se posklizneš. Sad je teško biti pametan, ali bolje je pričekati - rekao nam je Cinkuš.

Poklopilo se da mu se odmah ukazala nova prilika: već od sljedećeg tjedna počet će trenirati s 23-godišnjim Srbinom Miomirom Kecmanovićem (ATP 33.), a prvi zajednički turnir bit će im Acapulco.

- Budući da je Kecmanović dao otkaz Nalbandianu, upitao me bi li mu se htio pridružiti. Obavijestio sam Marina, on je rekao ‘OK‘ i to je bilo to.

Iz Cinkuševih se riječi moglo naslutiti da razlaz s donedavno najboljim hrvatskim tenisačem nije bio očekivan, no umjesto toga smo ga upitali na što je u ovom posljednjem razdoblju bio najponosniji.

- Teško je uspoređivati rezultate s onom našom prvom, dužom epizodom, ali kad smo krenuli, minimalni cilj je bio ući u Top 20. A Marin se vratio u top 15 i to je stvarno bilo odlično. Na kraju sezone je malo kiksao na dva turnira, ali Bože moj, sa 34. mjesta se vratio među najbolje na svijetu. Super smo odradili pripreme za novu sezonu, atmosfera je stvarno bila pozitivna i onda se dogodila ozljeda.

"Ne postoji čarobni štapić"

Na pitanje koliko je visoko postavio letvicu s Kecmanovićem, odgovara da za početak treba poraditi na samopouzdanju.

- Dečko igra dobar tenis, samo mu fali malo pozitive. Sad je u Dallasu izgubio meč koji je trebao dobiti (Gómez, nap. a.), i rekao sam mu da ću doći prije Acapulca da odradimo nekoliko treninga i da se upoznamo. Kecmanović je mladi igrač i treba mu rada i discipline, a ne ga samo prepustiti samome sebi. Koliko sam shvatio iz njegovih riječi, u suradnji s Nalbandianom dosta toga nije bilo definirano.

Cinkuš ističe da je komunikacija između trenera i igrača ključna, jer kad to "šteka", onda pate i rezultati.

- Svi misle kako će im bivši igrači donijeti čarobni štapić, a ne ide to baš tako. Trener i igrač moraju zajedno proći sve najvažnije stvari i usuglasiti se. Ne znam kako će biti s Kecmanovićem, možda ću ja tražiti previše, možda on, ali siguran sam da je potencijal za Top 20. Acapulco nam je prvi turnir, bit će sigurno puno informacija s obje strane, a onda ćemo dalje vidjeti.

Ivan Cinkuš više nije trener Marina Čilića. Gotovo osam godina, uz jedan duži prekid, trajala je suradnja osvajača US Opena 2014. i 42-godišnjeg Zagrepčanina, koji mu se pridružio još dok je u stožeru bio Goran Ivanišević.

S Čilićem je otad prošao sve najveće uspjehe, uključujući i dva finala Grand Slama (Wimbledon 2017., Australian Open 2018.) te Masters u Cincinnatiju, a razlaz je stigao pomalo naprasno. Nakon što se Marin ozlijedio u Australiji i završio na operaciji, zaključio je da kroz sljedećih nekoliko mjeseci, dok traje rehabilitacija, neće trebati Cinkuševe usluge. Njegov jedini trener zasad ostaje Vilim Višak - pišu Sportske novosti.
