Goran Ivanišević nije uspio pobjedom "krstiti" glavni stadion umaškog kompleksa Stella Maris. Stadion koji od subote nosi baš njegovo ime. U egzibicijskom susretu Goran je poražen od Juana Carlosa Ferrera 6:4, ali rezultat je u cijeloj toj priči bio najmanje bitan.
Kao Goranov suparnik najavljivan je bio Andre Agassi koji je iz Las Vegasa u Umag doputovao samo zbog ovog događaja, ali zbog kroničnih problema s leđima (zbog kojih vjerojatno nikad više neće moći igrati tenis) legendarni Amerikanac nije mogao nastupiti. Samo je odradio zagrijavanje s Goranom, nakon čega je protiv "Zeca" zaigrao Ferrero.
Ono što je najvažnije je ipak to da su se na jednome mjestu okupile tri teniske ikone te da su tribine stadiona bile ispunjene do vrha. Bila je to sjajna reklama umaškog turnira koji je zagazio u 27. izdanje.
- Odluka da naša popularna "školjka" dobije ime po Goranu jedna je od najlakših i najbržih koje smo ikada donijeli. Goran je veliki prijatelj našeg turnira i Umaga, ali iznad svega veliki hrvatski sportaš i naš jedini pobjednik Wimbledona - pojasnio je Ronald Korotaj, predsjednik Uprave Istraturista i predsjednik Organizacijskog odbora turnira.
Ivanišević se plašio da bi mu ovakvo odavanje počasti moglo donijeti nesreću i bio je u pravu. Barem što se rezultata tiče. No, svi su uživali, a dvojici talentiranih dječaka Dinu Prižmiću i Marcu Majdandzicu omogućena je uspomena za cijeli život.
Naime, nakon završetka egzibicijskog dvoboja Goran i Agassi zaigrali su parove protiv Splićanina Prižmića i Nijemca Majdandzica. Dječaci rođeni 2005. godine pokazali su silan talent, zadivjeli su gledatelje, ali u igri do deset osvojenih poena slavili su ipak oni malo stariji.
- Veliko hvala Ferreru te Agassiju koji je usprkos ozljedi leđa doletio iz Las Vegasa samo zbog ovog meča. To pokazuje koliko je velik i koliko respekta ima prema meni i ovoj zemlji. Ovo je velika stvar za Umag - kazao je Ivanišević na koncu.
Bila je to kulminacija dana u kojem su Agassi, Ferrero i Ivanišević nakon druženja s novinarima obradovali mališane na Kid's dayu, a potom su odradili i "live chat", potpisivali autograme, fotografirali se s obožavateljima...
Bila je to zaista rijetka prigoda da se toliko osvajača Grand Slamova nađe na jednome mjestu. I to baš u našem Umagu. Agassi i Ferrero nekoć su bili najbolji igrači svijeta, s tim da je Agassi osvojio osam Grand Slam naslova, a Ferrero jedan. O Goranu se već sve zna.
Egzibicijski meč pratili su brojni domaći, regionalni i svjetski mediji, među njima i kultni CNN te najtiražnije britanske dnevne novine The Sun i Daily Mail. Fantastična uvertira je odrađena, a glavni turnir Konzum Croatia Opena započinje u ponedjeljak.

Goran Ivanišević nije uspio pobjedom "krstiti" glavni stadion umaškog kompleksa Stella Maris. Stadion koji od subote nosi baš njegovo ime. U egzibicijskom susretu Goran je poražen od Juana Carlosa Ferrera 6:4, ali rezultat je u cijeloj toj priči bio najmanje bitan.
Kao Goranov suparnik najavljivan je bio Andre Agassi koji je iz Las Vegasa u Umag doputovao samo zbog ovog događaja, ali zbog kroničnih problema s leđima (zbog kojih vjerojatno nikad više neće moći igrati tenis) legendarni Amerikanac nije mogao nastupiti. Samo je odradio zagrijavanje s Goranom, nakon čega je protiv "Zeca" zaigrao Ferrero.
Ono što je najvažnije je ipak to da su se na jednome mjestu okupile tri teniske ikone te da su tribine stadiona bile ispunjene do vrha. Bila je to sjajna reklama umaškog turnira koji je zagazio u 27. izdanje.
- Odluka da naša popularna "školjka" dobije ime po Goranu jedna je od najlakših i najbržih koje smo ikada donijeli. Goran je veliki prijatelj našeg turnira i Umaga, ali iznad svega veliki hrvatski sportaš i naš jedini pobjednik Wimbledona - pojasnio je Ronald Korotaj, predsjednik Uprave Istraturista i predsjednik Organizacijskog odbora turnira.
Ivanišević se plašio da bi mu ovakvo odavanje počasti moglo donijeti nesreću i bio je u pravu. Barem što se rezultata tiče. No, svi su uživali, a dvojici talentiranih dječaka Dinu Prižmiću i Marcu Majdandzicu omogućena je uspomena za cijeli život.
Naime, nakon završetka egzibicijskog dvoboja Goran i Agassi zaigrali su parove protiv Splićanina Prižmića i Nijemca Majdandzica. Dječaci rođeni 2005. godine pokazali su silan talent, zadivjeli su gledatelje, ali u igri do deset osvojenih poena slavili su ipak oni malo stariji.
- Veliko hvala Ferreru te Agassiju koji je usprkos ozljedi leđa doletio iz Las Vegasa samo zbog ovog meča. To pokazuje koliko je velik i koliko respekta ima prema meni i ovoj zemlji. Ovo je velika stvar za Umag - kazao je Ivanišević na koncu.
Bila je to kulminacija dana u kojem su Agassi, Ferrero i Ivanišević nakon druženja s novinarima obradovali mališane na Kid's dayu, a potom su odradili i "live chat", potpisivali autograme, fotografirali se s obožavateljima...
Bila je to zaista rijetka prigoda da se toliko osvajača Grand Slamova nađe na jednome mjestu. I to baš u našem Umagu. Agassi i Ferrero nekoć su bili najbolji igrači svijeta, s tim da je Agassi osvojio osam Grand Slam naslova, a Ferrero jedan. O Goranu se već sve zna.
Egzibicijski meč pratili su brojni domaći, regionalni i svjetski mediji, među njima i kultni CNN te najtiražnije britanske dnevne novine The Sun i Daily Mail. Fantastična uvertira je odrađena, a glavni turnir Konzum Croatia Opena započinje u ponedjeljak.
