Svjetsko prvenstvo u snookeru već se 46 godina održava u Sheffieldu, točnije, u Crucible Theateru. No, sadašnji ugovor Matchrooma, koji vodi natjecanje, i gradskih vlasti Sheffielda završava 2027. godine.

S obzirom na to, u utrku za organizaciju SP-a koje slijedi nakon toga uključio se i Katar. Iako ta vijest može iznenaditi nekoga, zapravo ne bi trebala, jer ta je malena bliskoistočna država već godinama predvodnik "sportswashinga" i bjesomučno pokušava dovesti sva moguća svjetska prvenstva.

Katar je prošle godine bio domaćin Svjetskog nogometnog prvenstva, a 2027. godine bit će i domaćin SP-a u košarci. Snooker bi, dakle, bio samo još jedan u nizu sportova čija bi elita stigla na Bliski istok.

Igrači i navijači podjednako vole atmosferu, povijest i tradiciju dvorane u Sheffieldu, no organizatori smatraju kako je kapacitet od 980 gledatelja premalen. Eddie Hearn, osnivač Matchroom Sporta, uvijek je tvrdio da turnir neće napustiti Sheffield dok je on na čelu, ali postoji jedno veliko "ali"...

- Navijač sam Sheffielda, želim ostati ovdje, ali to možda nije moja odluka. Ja sam predsjednik bez izvršne vlasti i tko zna što će se dogoditi. Rekao sam Sheffieldu što moraju učiniti, imaju četiri do pet godina", rekao je Hearn.

Svjetsko prvenstvo u snookeru već se 46 godina održava u Sheffieldu, točnije, u Crucible Theateru. No, sadašnji ugovor Matchrooma, koji vodi natjecanje, i gradskih vlasti Sheffielda završava 2027. godine.

S obzirom na to, u utrku za organizaciju SP-a koje slijedi nakon toga uključio se i Katar. Iako ta vijest može iznenaditi nekoga, zapravo ne bi trebala, jer ta je malena bliskoistočna država već godinama predvodnik "sportswashinga" i bjesomučno pokušava dovesti sva moguća svjetska prvenstva.

Katar je prošle godine bio domaćin Svjetskog nogometnog prvenstva, a 2027. godine bit će i domaćin SP-a u košarci. Snooker bi, dakle, bio samo još jedan u nizu sportova čija bi elita stigla na Bliski istok.

Igrači i navijači podjednako vole atmosferu, povijest i tradiciju dvorane u Sheffieldu, no organizatori smatraju kako je kapacitet od 980 gledatelja premalen. Eddie Hearn, osnivač Matchroom Sporta, uvijek je tvrdio da turnir neće napustiti Sheffield dok je on na čelu, ali postoji jedno veliko "ali"...

- Navijač sam Sheffielda, želim ostati ovdje, ali to možda nije moja odluka. Ja sam predsjednik bez izvršne vlasti i tko zna što će se dogoditi. Rekao sam Sheffieldu što moraju učiniti, imaju četiri do pet godina", rekao je Hearn.

Svjetsko prvenstvo u snookeru već se 46 godina održava u Sheffieldu, točnije, u Crucible Theateru. No, sadašnji ugovor Matchrooma, koji vodi natjecanje, i gradskih vlasti Sheffielda završava 2027. godine.

S obzirom na to, u utrku za organizaciju SP-a koje slijedi nakon toga uključio se i Katar. Iako ta vijest može iznenaditi nekoga, zapravo ne bi trebala, jer ta je malena bliskoistočna država već godinama predvodnik "sportswashinga" i bjesomučno pokušava dovesti sva moguća svjetska prvenstva.

Katar je prošle godine bio domaćin Svjetskog nogometnog prvenstva, a 2027. godine bit će i domaćin SP-a u košarci. Snooker bi, dakle, bio samo još jedan u nizu sportova čija bi elita stigla na Bliski istok.

Igrači i navijači podjednako vole atmosferu, povijest i tradiciju...
