Dosta je bilo podignutih obrva kada je Split nedavno angažirao centra Antonija Vrankovića (23), manje poznatog široj sportskoj javnosti.

Pogotovo zato što je nakon četiri godine uz skromnu minutažu na američkom sveučilištu Duke stigao iz treće španjolske lige, iz druge momčadi Gran Canarije. Međutim, u svom trećem susretu za “žute”, klasiku protiv Cibone, Stojkov sin razoružao je sumnjičavce fantastičnom partijom. U 27 minuta igre imao je double double učinak, zabio je 20 koševa bez promašaja iz igre (8/8) uz 12 skokova, ali i tri asistencije. Trener Ivica Skelin priznao je da je kao i mnoge i njega Vranković iznenadio. A sebe?

- Pa jesam s obzirom da sam bio i malo bolestan. Imao sam za Božić i Novu godinu fibru i upalu pluća koji su trajali 12 dana prije nego što sam stigao u Split. Gripa, fibra 40, s bakterijom na plućima kao početnim stadijem upale. Sedam dana sam bio na antibioticima. Nisam znao da kondicijski mogu odigrati takvu utakmicu na tom “levelu”. Sretan sam, ali sada treba nastaviti tako, redati takve partije - rekao nam je Vranković koji je slobodan dan nakon utakmice iskoristio da skokne do svog Zadra, doma ruča s obitelji. Nema do materine spize.

Je li ti ovo bila utakmica dosadašnje karijere?

- Sigurno. Još uz to je bila i protiv Cibone. Mogao sam to samo sanjati.

Što otac kaže na to?

- Ponosan je, kao i svaki otac. Sretan je, drago mu je. Koliko god sam prolazio neke mentalne borbe dok nisam igrao, on je tu bio sa mnom. Prolazili smo to skupa. Ovo je u neku ruku bilo kao da je i on igrao sa mnom. Ali on je košarkaški perfekcionist. Već je našao par stvari koje treba popraviti – u dobrom će raspoloženju Antonio.

Što?

- Obranu i trku, ali zna i on da me bolest malo vratila. A nađe i neke detalje koje drugi ne vide.

Što je pohvalio? Barem horog kojim si baš podsjetio na njega?

- Ha, ha... Teško je dobiti neku specifičnu pohvalu, više su to one općenite, uz natuknice.

Smeta li te to breme poznatog oca, a pogotovo kada si bio pozivan u reprezentaciju kada se to i dovodilo u kontekst? 

- Završio sam hvala Bogu psihologiju, pa neke stvari prakticiram i na samom sebi ha, ha. Ne dajem tim stvarima da me previše opterećuju, to se ne može mijenjati. Imam prezime koje imam i otac mi je taj koji je. Ljudi imaju pravo na mišljenje. Samo igram, pokušavam biti što bolji na terenu.

Zašto si se odlučio za Split?

- Još od ožujka smo u kontaktu. Bio sam s Marčinkovićem u reprezentaciji. Iz znatiželje sam pitao za Split, a on mi je sve nahvalio. Tada me zvao predsjednik i ostali smo u kontaktu. Odlučio sam ljetos otići u Španjolsku. Sve je tamo bilo super, ali vidio sam da mogu naći bolju situaciju, a to je za mene Split. Ovdje sam i ne mogu biti sretniji.

Cibonu ste dobili bez ozlijeđenih Marčinkovića i Kalajžića. Ambicije rastu. Može li se možda i do trofeja, u ligi, kupu?

- Hvala Bogu, svaki sportaš želi trofeje, biti najbolji. I mi igrači kao i navijači Splita očekujemo trofeje, ali treba utakmicu po utakmicu doći do toga.

Dosta je bilo podignutih obrva kada je Split nedavno angažirao centra Antonija Vrankovića (23), manje poznatog široj sportskoj javnosti.

Pogotovo zato što je nakon četiri godine uz skromnu minutažu na američkom sveučilištu Duke stigao iz treće španjolske lige, iz druge momčadi Gran Canarije. Međutim, u svom trećem susretu za “žute”, klasiku protiv Cibone, Stojkov sin razoružao je sumnjičavce fantastičnom partijom. U 27 minuta igre imao je double double učinak, zabio je 20 koševa bez promašaja iz igre (8/8) uz 12 skokova, ali i tri asistencije. Trener Ivica Skelin priznao je da je kao i mnoge i njega Vranković iznenadio. A sebe?

- Pa jesam s obzirom da sam bio i malo bolestan. Imao sam za Božić i Novu godinu fibru i upalu pluća koji su trajali 12 dana prije nego što sam stigao u Split. Gripa, fibra 40, s bakterijom na plućima kao početnim stadijem upale. Sedam dana sam bio na antibioticima. Nisam znao da kondicijski mogu odigrati takvu utakmicu na tom “levelu”. Sretan sam, ali sada treba nastaviti tako, redati takve partije - rekao nam je Vranković koji je slobodan dan nakon utakmice iskoristio da skokne do svog Zadra, doma ruča s obitelji. Nema do materine spize.

Je li ti ovo bila utakmica dosadašnje karijere?

- Sigurno. Još uz to je bila i protiv Cibone. Mogao sam to samo sanjati.

Što otac kaže na to?

- Ponosan je, kao i svaki otac. Sretan je, drago mu je. Koliko god sam prolazio neke mentalne borbe dok nisam igrao, on je tu bio sa mnom. Prolazili smo to skupa. Ovo je u neku ruku bilo kao da je i on igrao sa mnom. Ali on je košarkaški perfekcionist. Već je našao par stvari koje treba popraviti – u dobrom će raspoloženju Antonio.

Što?

- Obranu i trku, ali zna i on da me bolest malo vratila. A nađe i neke detalje koje drugi ne vide.

Što je pohvalio? Barem horog kojim si baš podsjetio na njega?

- Ha, ha... Teško je dobiti neku specifičnu pohvalu, više su to one općenite, uz natuknice.

Smeta li te to breme poznatog oca, a pogotovo kada si bio pozivan u reprezentaciju kada se to i dovodilo u kontekst? 

- Završio sam hvala Bogu psihologiju, pa neke stvari prakticiram i na samom sebi ha, ha. Ne dajem tim stvarima da me previše opterećuju, to se ne može mijenjati. Imam prezime koje imam i otac mi je taj koji je. Ljudi imaju pravo na mišljenje. Samo igram, pokušavam biti što bolji na terenu.

Zašto si se odlučio za Split?

- Još od ožujka smo u kontaktu. Bio sam s Marčinkovićem u reprezentaciji. Iz znatiželje sam pitao za Split, a on mi je sve nahvalio. Tada me zvao predsjednik i ostali smo u kontaktu. Odlučio sam ljetos otići u Španjolsku. Sve je tamo bilo super, ali vidio sam da mogu naći bolju situaciju, a to je za mene Split. Ovdje sam i ne mogu biti sretniji.

Cibonu ste dobili bez ozlijeđenih Marčinkovića i Kalajžića. Ambicije rastu. Može li se možda i do trofeja, u ligi, kupu?

- Hvala Bogu, svaki sportaš želi trofeje, biti najbolji. I mi igrači kao i navijači Splita očekujemo trofeje, ali treba utakmicu po utakmicu doći do toga.

Dosta je bilo podignutih obrva kada je Split nedavno angažirao centra Antonija Vrankovića (23), manje poznatog široj sportskoj javnosti.

Pogotovo zato što je nakon četiri godine uz skromnu minutažu na američkom sveučilištu Duke stigao iz treće španjolske lige, iz druge momčadi Gran Canarije. Međutim, u svom trećem susretu za “žute”, klasiku protiv Cibone, Stojkov sin razoružao je sumnjičavce fantastičnom partijom. U 27 minuta igre imao je double double učinak, zabio je 20 koševa bez promašaja iz igre (8/8) uz 12 skokova, ali i tri asistencije. Trener Ivica Skelin priznao je da je kao i mnoge i njega Vranković iznenadio. A sebe?

- Pa jesam s obzirom da sam bio i malo bolestan. Imao sam za Božić i Novu godinu fibru i upalu pluća koji su trajali 12 dana prije...
