U novijoj povijesti hrvatskoga brodarstva teško je naći brod čije ime ne zvoni ni vrsnim znalcima kao je slučaj sa splitskim teretnjakom Sveti Juraj. Kao i njegov kratki život na Jadranu, duboko u sjeni ostala je i njegova smrt u oluji, u dalekim vodama Adenskoga zaljeva. Od potonuća broda Albaraka II, kako se tada zvao, prošlo je više od šest godina, a pisac ovih redaka tek je nedavno uspio dokučiti što se zapravo dogodilo. Svetoga Jurja je odnijela oluja smrti!

Put na jug

No, koji je to brod uopće bio? Vratimo se na sami početak priče, u ljeto 1971. kada je u brodogradilištu Bolsønes u norveškome Moldeu porinut teretnjak Else Nielsen. Neveliki brod, dug 90 i širok 15 metara, nosivosti 3000 tona, građen je za dansku tvrtku Marius Nielsen & Son. No, kad je Dancima predan 17. studenoga na pramcu je bilo ispisano novo ime - Betty Nielsen. Samo pet godina poslije otplovio je put juga. Kupila ga je tvrtka Icarus Shipping, jedna od brojnih u vlasništvu grčkoga brodovlasnika Ioannisa (Johna) Latsisa. Zašto je rivalu Onassisa i Niarchosa trebao taj mali brod, nazvan Petrola 80, teško je naslutiti.

Pomorske kronike bilježe da je u Latsisovoj floti ostao čak 19 godina, ali je od veljače 1989. do listopada 1995. bio na mrtvome vezu. Novu mladost udahnula mu je grčka kompanija Alkionis II Shipping, kojoj je, pod imenom Georgios T., služio cijelo desetljeće. I onda je 2005. stigao u Split! Kupio ga je Franjo Mladineo, jedan od pionira privatnoga brodarstva u Hrvatskoj, poznat po brodovima Pučišća, Kapetan Vjeko, Sveti Jere... Brod je pod imenom Sveti Juraj upisan u Panami, a kao vlasnik u knjigama se navodila tvrtka JC Shipping Co.

Što se točno događalo u papirima teško je posložiti, ali je jasno što je bilo s brodom. Kratko nakon kupnje našao se na mrtvome vezu u Vranjicu, pa se preselio u Sveti Kajo gdje je bio čvrsto vezan sve do jeseni 2008. godine. Tada ga je Hrvatska banka za obnovu i razvitak (HBOR) prodala Sirijcima!

Fatalna oluja

Pod imenom Serena B. i za Sirijce je više stajao nego plovio, pa su ga poslije dvije godine prodali Libanoncima. Bila je to kompanija GMZ Shipmanagent, poznata po brodovima za prijevoz stoke, pa je i junak naše priče postao stočar.

Najprije se zvao Mastoorah, pa Makkah 2 i na koncu je početkom 2015. godine postao Albaraka II. Odličan posao našao je u prijevozu stoke iz Somalije u Ujedinjene Arapske Emirate. No, tada ga je napustila sreća. Iz pomorskih registara brod je nestao uz nadasve šturo objašnjenje da je izgubljen 8. srpnja 2015. godine. Gdje, što i kako - ni riječi. Upustio sam se u veliku potragu koja je nakon puno truda dala rezultata. Nije ni čudo jer je brod isplovio iz luke Bossaso u Puntlandu, državi proglašenoj tijekom građanskoga rata u Somaliji.

Ukrcao je za Emirate 3000 ovaca i koza, a na brodu je bila 31 osoba. Koliko je od toga bilo pomoraca, koliko čuvara stoke, a koliko putnika teško da će se ikad znati. Albaraka II se doskora našao u vrlo jakome nevremenu, valovi su bili sve veći, pa je brod napušten. Doskora je potonuo sa svojim živim teretom, a nestalo je i dvoje ljudi. Ostale su spasili brodovi koji su plovili tim vodama.

U novijoj povijesti hrvatskoga brodarstva teško je naći brod čije ime ne zvoni ni vrsnim znalcima kao je slučaj sa splitskim teretnjakom Sveti Juraj. Kao i njegov kratki život na Jadranu, duboko u sjeni ostala je i njegova smrt u oluji, u dalekim vodama Adenskoga zaljeva. Od potonuća broda Albaraka II, kako se tada zvao, prošlo je više od šest godina, a pisac ovih redaka tek je nedavno uspio dokučiti što se zapravo dogodilo. Svetoga Jurja je odnijela oluja smrti!

Put na jug

No, koji je to brod uopće bio? Vratimo se na sami početak priče, u ljeto 1971. kada je u brodogradilištu Bolsønes u norveškome Moldeu porinut teretnjak Else Nielsen. Neveliki brod, dug 90 i širok 15 metara, nosivosti 3000 tona, građen je za dansku tvrtku Marius Nielsen & Son. No, kad je Dancima predan 17. studenoga na pramcu je bilo ispisano novo ime - Betty Nielsen. Samo pet godina poslije otplovio je put juga. Kupila ga je tvrtka Icarus Shipping, jedna od brojnih u vlasništvu grčkoga brodovlasnika Ioannisa (Johna) Latsisa. Zašto je rivalu Onassisa i Niarchosa trebao taj mali brod, nazvan Petrola 80, teško je naslutiti.

Pomorske kronike bilježe da je u Latsisovoj floti ostao čak 19 godina, ali je od veljače 1989. do listopada 1995. bio na mrtvome vezu. Novu mladost udahnula mu je grčka kompanija Alkionis II Shipping, kojoj je, pod imenom Georgios T., služio cijelo desetljeće. I onda je 2005. stigao u Split! Kupio ga je Franjo Mladineo, jedan od pionira privatnoga brodarstva u Hrvatskoj, poznat po brodovima Pučišća, Kapetan Vjeko, Sveti Jere... Brod je pod imenom Sveti Juraj upisan u Panami, a kao vlasnik u knjigama se navodila tvrtka JC Shipping Co.

Što se točno događalo u papirima teško je posložiti, ali je jasno što je bilo s brodom. Kratko nakon kupnje našao se na mrtvome vezu u Vranjicu, pa se preselio u Sveti Kajo gdje je bio čvrsto vezan sve do jeseni 2008. godine. Tada ga je Hrvatska banka za obnovu i razvitak (HBOR) prodala Sirijcima!

Fatalna oluja

Pod imenom Serena B. i za Sirijce je više stajao nego plovio, pa su ga poslije dvije godine prodali Libanoncima. Bila je to kompanija GMZ Shipmanagent, poznata po brodovima za prijevoz stoke, pa je i junak naše priče postao stočar.

Najprije se zvao Mastoorah, pa Makkah 2 i na koncu je početkom 2015. godine postao Albaraka II. Odličan posao našao je u prijevozu stoke iz Somalije u Ujedinjene Arapske Emirate. No, tada ga je napustila sreća. Iz pomorskih registara brod je nestao uz nadasve šturo objašnjenje da je izgubljen 8. srpnja 2015. godine. Gdje, što i kako - ni riječi. Upustio sam se u veliku potragu koja je nakon puno truda dala rezultata. Nije ni čudo jer je brod isplovio iz luke Bossaso u Puntlandu, državi proglašenoj tijekom građanskoga rata u Somaliji.

Ukrcao je za Emirate 3000 ovaca i koza, a na brodu je bila 31 osoba. Koliko je od toga bilo pomoraca, koliko čuvara stoke, a koliko putnika teško da će se ikad znati. Albaraka II se doskora našao u vrlo jakome nevremenu, valovi su bili sve veći, pa je brod napušten. Doskora je potonuo sa svojim živim teretom, a nestalo je i dvoje ljudi. Ostale su spasili brodovi koji su plovili tim vodama.
