Charlotte iz novog “Bridgertona” dobila je konkurenciju nakon što je na Netflixu premijeru imala serija o još jednoj kraljici – Kleopatri. Međutim, dok je “Kraljica Charlotte: Priča iz Bridgertona” doživjela dobar prijem, “Kraljica Kleopatra”/”Queen Cleopatra” izazvala je kontroverzije.

Zanimljivo je da su kraljice u oba Netflixova projekta tamne puti, od britanske Charlotte do egipatske Kleopatre, iako ih povijest ne poznaje kao takve, ali samo potonja serija podiže prašinu. Razlog tome treba tražiti u pristupu.

“Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” je romantična fikcija koja se nadogradila na teoriju da je ova kraljica (glume je Golde Rosheuvel i mlada India Ria Amarteifio) imala afričke korijene zbog njezinih izravnih veza s crnim ogrankom portugalske kraljevske obitelji i razvila priču s puno pjesničkih sloboda.

“Kraljica Charlotte: Priča iz Bridgertona” na koncu nije prva serija ili film s vlastitom vizijom povijesti sjetimo li se da jedan Quentin Tarantino znao remiksirati historiju i ispisivati njezinu alternativnu verziju, kao npr. u hitu “Bilo jednom u... Hollywoodu”. S druge strane, “Kraljica Kleopatra” je dokumentarna serija s igranim dijelovima, spoj “talking heads” dokumentarca i dramske rekreacije povijesti posljednje egipatske vladarice, kćerke i nasljednice Ptolemeja XII. iz makedonske dinastije koja je vladala Egiptom.

“Queen Cleopatra” je drugi dio dokumentarnog serijala “Afričke kraljice” producentice Jade Pinkett Smith, a u prvoj sezoni, koja je slijedila tragove filma “Žena kralj”, fokus je bio na kraljici Njingu, ratnici iz 17. stoljeća. Glumica Pinkett Smith odlučila je producirati serijal i biti njegova naratorica jer “nemamo priliku često vidjeti ili čuti priče o crnim kraljicama”.

Predstavljanje Kleopatre kao crnkinje (glumi je kovrčava Adele James) navuklo je bijes stručnih Egipćana, ali i sprdnju na društvenim mrežama s fotomontažama plakata budućih Netflixovih dokumentarnih serija s tamnoputim Georgeom Washingtonom, Elonom Muskom i Vladimirom Putinom.

Naime, Egipćani su udruženi u mišljenju da je kraljica “imala bijelu kožu i helenističke karakteristike”, što potvrđuju njezini bareljefi i kipovi kao “najbolji dokaz”. Egiptolog Zahi Hawass otišao je tako daleko da je podnio tužbu protiv Netflixa zato što serija “lažira povijest” i pokušava “izbrisati egipatski identitet”, dok on inzistira na tome da je Kleopatra bila “svijetle puti, a ne crna”.

“Netflix pokušava izazvati zabunu šireći lažne i obmanjujuće činjenice da je podrijetlo egipatske civilizacije crno”, istaknuo je Hawass. Supruga Willa Smitha pronašla je (samo)obrambeni mehanizam u podatku da je za vrijeme Kleopatrine vladavine stanovništvo Egipta bilo multikulturalno i multirasno, pri čemu “jedni nagađaju da je ona bila rođena Egipćanka, a drugi kažu da je bila Grkinja”, kao i to da je podrijetlo njezine majke i bake po ocu nepoznato, time i podatno za špekulacije.

Na tom “obrambenom” tragu jedan od sugovornika u seriji kaže “Kleopatra nas privlači jer je zamišljamo, svatko je može zamisliti na svoj način”. Pa ipak, stječe se dojam da “Kraljica Kleopatra” počiva na povijesnim netočnostima i da forsira crnu boju kože egipatske vladarice dok očajnički pokušava zaviriti iza obiteljsko-kraljevskih kulisa u stilu “Igre prijestolja”, istražujući je li ona bila strateg ili zavodnica i najviše se priklanjajući potonjoj tituli s obzirom na minutažu ljubavnih veza “majke dvaju naroda” (Egipat, Rim) s Julijem Cezarom i Markom Antonijem.

Kontroverzije su zapravo jedina stvar zbog kojih serija može izazvati zanimanje računajući njezinu (ne)kvalitetu. Dokumentarne i dramske scene su neusklađene i raštimane, a režija i gluma većinski djeluju nedopustivo amaterski.

James nije ni sjena Elizabeth Taylor, Claudette Colbert, Vivien Leigh, Rhonde Fleming..., kao što ni “Queen Cleopatra” nije sjena prijašnjih ekranizacija Kleopatrina života. “Kraljica Kleopatra”? Jednostavno - kraljevski promašaj. •

Najpoznatija je, naravno, Elizabeth Taylor

Kleopatra je na ekranima prisutna od najranijih dana kinematografije. Theda Bara je utjelovila slavnu vladaricu u filmu “La Reine des Cesars” iz 1917., Claudette Colbert 1934. u ostvarenju legendarnog Cecila B. DeMillea, Vivien Leigh 1945. u “Cezaru i Kleopatri”, a Rhonda Fleming 1953. u “Serpent of the Nile”.

Najpoznatija Kleopatra zasigurno je Elizabeth Taylor u dotad najskupljem filmu svih vremena Josepha L. Mankiewicza. U novom mileniju Kleopatru su utjelovile i europske glumice Monica Bellucci i Marion Cotillard u nastavcima “Asterixa”. Jedno vrijeme se trebao snimiti i spektakl u kojem je egipatsku kraljicu trebala glumiti Angelina Jolie, a još uvijek je u planu “Kleopatra” s Gal Gadot.

Charlotte iz novog “Bridgertona” dobila je konkurenciju nakon što je na Netflixu premijeru imala serija o još jednoj kraljici – Kleopatri. Međutim, dok je “Kraljica Charlotte: Priča iz Bridgertona” doživjela dobar prijem, “Kraljica Kleopatra”/”Queen Cleopatra” izazvala je kontroverzije.

Zanimljivo je da su kraljice u oba Netflixova projekta tamne puti, od britanske Charlotte do egipatske Kleopatre, iako ih povijest ne poznaje kao takve, ali samo potonja serija podiže prašinu. Razlog tome treba tražiti u pristupu.

“Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story” je romantična fikcija koja se nadogradila na teoriju da je ova kraljica (glume je Golde Rosheuvel i mlada India Ria Amarteifio) imala afričke korijene zbog njezinih izravnih veza s crnim ogrankom portugalske kraljevske obitelji i razvila priču s puno pjesničkih sloboda.

“Kraljica Charlotte: Priča iz Bridgertona” na koncu nije prva serija ili film s vlastitom vizijom povijesti sjetimo li se da jedan Quentin Tarantino znao remiksirati historiju i ispisivati njezinu alternativnu verziju, kao npr. u hitu “Bilo jednom u... Hollywoodu”. S druge strane, “Kraljica Kleopatra” je dokumentarna serija s igranim dijelovima, spoj “talking heads” dokumentarca i dramske rekreacije povijesti posljednje egipatske vladarice, kćerke i nasljednice Ptolemeja XII. iz makedonske dinastije koja je vladala Egiptom.

“Queen Cleopatra” je drugi dio dokumentarnog serijala “Afričke kraljice” producentice Jade Pinkett Smith, a u prvoj sezoni, koja je slijedila tragove filma “Žena kralj”, fokus je bio na kraljici Njingu, ratnici iz 17. stoljeća. Glumica Pinkett Smith odlučila je producirati serijal i biti njegova naratorica jer “nemamo priliku često vidjeti ili čuti priče o crnim kraljicama”.

Predstavljanje Kleopatre kao crnkinje (glumi je kovrčava Adele James) navuklo je bijes stručnih Egipćana, ali i sprdnju na društvenim mrežama s fotomontažama plakata budućih Netflixovih dokumentarnih serija s tamnoputim Georgeom Washingtonom, Elonom Muskom i Vladimirom Putinom.

Naime, Egipćani su udruženi u mišljenju da je kraljica “imala bijelu kožu i helenističke karakteristike”, što potvrđuju njezini bareljefi i kipovi kao “najbolji dokaz”. Egiptolog Zahi Hawass otišao je tako daleko da je podnio tužbu protiv Netflixa zato što serija “lažira povijest” i pokušava “izbrisati egipatski identitet”, dok on inzistira na tome da je Kleopatra bila “svijetle puti, a ne crna”.

“Netflix pokušava izazvati zabunu šireći lažne i obmanjujuće činjenice da je podrijetlo egipatske civilizacije crno”, istaknuo je Hawass. Supruga Willa Smitha pronašla je (samo)obrambeni mehanizam u podatku da je za vrijeme Kleopatrine vladavine stanovništvo Egipta bilo multikulturalno i multirasno, pri čemu “jedni nagađaju da je ona bila rođena Egipćanka, a drugi kažu da je bila Grkinja”, kao i to da je podrijetlo njezine majke i bake po ocu nepoznato, time i podatno za špekulacije.

Na tom “obrambenom” tragu jedan od sugovornika u seriji kaže “Kleopatra nas privlači jer je zamišljamo, svatko je može zamisliti na svoj način”. Pa ipak, stječe se dojam da “Kraljica Kleopatra” počiva na povijesnim netočnostima i da forsira crnu boju kože egipatske vladarice dok očajnički pokušava zaviriti iza obiteljsko-kraljevskih kulisa u stilu “Igre prijestolja”, istražujući je li ona bila strateg ili zavodnica i najviše se priklanjajući potonjoj tituli s obzirom na minutažu ljubavnih veza “majke dvaju naroda” (Egipat, Rim) s Julijem Cezarom i Markom Antonijem.

Kontroverzije su zapravo jedina stvar zbog kojih serija može izazvati zanimanje računajući njezinu (ne)kvalitetu. Dokumentarne i dramske scene su neusklađene i raštimane, a režija i gluma većinski djeluju nedopustivo amaterski.

James nije ni sjena Elizabeth Taylor, Claudette Colbert, Vivien Leigh, Rhonde Fleming..., kao što ni “Queen Cleopatra” nije sjena prijašnjih ekranizacija Kleopatrina života. “Kraljica Kleopatra”? Jednostavno - kraljevski promašaj. •

Kleopatra je na ekranima prisutna od najranijih dana kinematografije. Theda Bara je utjelovila slavnu vladaricu u filmu “La Reine des Cesars” iz 1917., Claudette Colbert 1934. u ostvarenju legendarnog Cecila B. DeMillea, Vivien Leigh 1945. u “Cezaru i Kleopatri”, a Rhonda Fleming 1953. u “Serpent of the Nile”.

Najpoznatija Kleopatra zasigurno je Elizabeth Taylor u dotad najskupljem filmu svih vremena Josepha L. Mankiewicza. U novom mileniju Kleopatru su utjelovile i europske glumice Monica Bellucci i Marion Cotillard u nastavcima “Asterixa”. Jedno vrijeme se trebao snimiti i spektakl u kojem je egipatsku kraljicu trebala glumiti Angelina Jolie, a još uvijek je u planu “Kleopatra” s Gal Gadot.

Charlotte iz novog “Bridgertona” dobila je konkurenciju nakon što je na Netflixu premijeru imala serija o još jednoj kraljici – Kleopatri. Međutim, dok je “Kraljica Charlotte: Priča iz Bridgertona” doživjela dobar prijem, “Kraljica Kleopatra”/”Queen Cleopatra” izazvala je kontroverzije.

Zanimljivo je da su kraljice u oba Netflixova projekta tamne puti, od britanske Charlotte do egipatske Kleopatre, iako ih povijest ne poznaje kao takve, ali samo potonja serija podiže prašinu. Razlog tome treba tražiti u pristupu.
