​Hrvatski pomorski muzej Split u svojoj Zbirci pomorskih karata i peljara sadrži i neke rijetke i vrijedne primjerke planova, karata, atlasa, portulana i izolara iz razdoblja od 16. do 20. stoljeća. Portulani i izolari bili su preteče kasnije razvijenim peljarima, neka vrsta priručnika za plovidbu.

Portulani su rukom crtane pomorske karte na pergamentu koje su bile u upotrebi od 14. do 17. stoljeća. Često su se uvezivale u tvrde korice, iz čega je nastao portulanski atlas. Uz karte, u atlas su se počeli unositi i sadržaji s podacima o lukama i sidrištima, njihovim pozicijama i međusobnim udaljenostima.

Kasnijim razvojem donose i podatke o pozicijama pličina i grebena, uputama kako ih izbjeći, načine uplovljavanja, o dubini, kakvoći dna i kapacitetima pojedinih luka i sidrišta, te ostala zapažanja vezana uz plovidbu, ponekad i šire.

Izolari se javljaju nešto kasnije, prvi je objavljen 1420. godine u Veneciji, najprije kao zbirka karata otoka prikazanih u krupnom planu, a kasnije i priobalno područje.

Džepno izdanje

Najstariji portulan/atlas u Zbirci HPMS-a je Teatro del cielo e della terra, djelo talijanskog liječnika, humanističkog putopisca, geografa, kozmografa i kartografa Giuseppea Rosaccia (1530. – 1620.) iz 1590. godine, koji je doživio brojna izdanja.

U ovom zanimljivom primjerku cjelovitoga kataloga sa savjetima za navigaciju džepnog izdanja, Rosaccio ukratko raspravlja o zaobljenosti empirijskog neba, redu nebeskih dijelova, broju sfera, o paklu, čistilištu, raju, središtu i o mjestu potresa i njegovim uzrocima, rijekama i njihovim sadržajima, metalu i njihovu podrijetlu, biljkama i njihovu očuvanju u skladu s prirodom, životinjama svih vrsta, veličini Zemlje u starom i novom vijeku.

Rosacciov Teatro del cielo e della terra propagira ideju svijeta kao sfere. Od samog početka autor sferični oblik postulira kao ideal, pri čemu se njegova razmatranja o Zemlji izvode iz svemirskoga multisfernog modela, jer se u platonističkoj filozofiji kugla smatrala najsavršenijim geometrijskim tijelom.

Na zemljovidima Rosaccio ističe Hrvatsku (CROATIA) i Dalmaciju (DALMATIA), putuje otkrićima i navodi da još uvijek postoje nenaseljene regije, poput Grenlanda i Ognjene zemlje; na južnom rubu Zemlje naznačio je još uvijek neotkrivenu zemlju Terra Incognita Australe.

Drugi izniman portulan/atlas Sredozemnog mora iz 1664. godine djelo je đenovskoga kapetana Francesca Marije Levanta, o kojemu nemamo mnogo podataka. Ovaj portulan je prvo izdanje i jedan od najranijih talijanskih tiskanih pomorskih atlasa. Karte su rađene u Amsterdamu 1663. godine, a atlas je tiskan 1664. u Genovi.

Ovo sjajno djelo, koje nas vraća u 17. st., kada je Venecija još uvijek nadzirala istočne mediteranske putove, opisuje otoke i obale Sredozemlja u 12 zornih predstavljanja dimostratione, a popraćeno je s 25 karata i ilustracijama koje prikazuju poglede na obale i luke.

Ikonografska aparatura u ovom atlasu počinje s razvidno razrađenom alegorijskom i figurativnom naslovnom stranicom, posvetom čitatelju i plemenitom gosp. Giovanniju Battisti della Rovere. Skup karata počinje s dvjema pomorskim kartama Sredozemlja: jedna je opća karta zapadnog, druga istočnog dijela Sredozemlja. Ostale karte su lokalizirani detalji.

Ogledalo mora

Svako predstavljanje počinje ksilografskim inicijalima, ilustriranim mitološkim likovima, maskeronima..., što je ideja koja nesumnjivo dolazi iz srednjovjekovnih načela figurativnog alfabeta, po kojemu su pojedina slova, radi lakšeg pamćenja, građena slikama pojedinih bića ili prizora.

Svako predstavljanje popraćeno je tablicama koje pokazuju udaljenosti u talijanskim ligama. Uz kartografski prikaz sadržavaju obavijesti o lukama i obalama te detaljne podatke o plovidbenim rutama. Tekst je obilno ilustriran lučkim planovima i profilima obala.

Na kartama je otisnuta gusta mreža kompasnih linija i ucrtane su ruže vjetrova. Zabilježeni su glavni toponimi i niz simbola, mala sidra za točke sidrišta, križevi za opasne stijene, sitni kružići za plitke vode.

Atlas sadrži karte koje je razvio sam Levanto, zajedno s drugima preuzetima iz djela Anthonija Jacobsza De Lichtende Colomne Zee-Spiegel, objavljenog 20 godina ranije, koje su koristili brojni kartografi (Goos, Doncker, Thornton, Van Keulen i dr.). Atlas je nadahnut i nazvan po Jacobszovu Zee-spiegelu (Ogledalo mora).

​Hrvatski pomorski muzej Split u svojoj Zbirci pomorskih karata i peljara sadrži i neke rijetke i vrijedne primjerke planova, karata, atlasa, portulana i izolara iz razdoblja od 16. do 20. stoljeća. Portulani i izolari bili su preteče kasnije razvijenim peljarima, neka vrsta priručnika za plovidbu.

Portulani su rukom crtane pomorske karte na pergamentu koje su bile u upotrebi od 14. do 17. stoljeća. Često su se uvezivale u tvrde korice, iz čega je nastao portulanski atlas. Uz karte, u atlas su se počeli unositi i sadržaji s podacima o lukama i sidrištima, njihovim pozicijama i međusobnim udaljenostima.

Kasnijim razvojem donose i podatke o pozicijama pličina i grebena, uputama kako ih izbjeći, načine uplovljavanja, o dubini, kakvoći dna i kapacitetima pojedinih luka i sidrišta, te ostala zapažanja vezana uz plovidbu, ponekad i šire.

Izolari se javljaju nešto kasnije, prvi je objavljen 1420. godine u Veneciji, najprije kao zbirka karata otoka prikazanih u krupnom planu, a kasnije i priobalno područje.

Džepno izdanje

Najstariji portulan/atlas u Zbirci HPMS-a je Teatro del cielo e della terra, djelo talijanskog liječnika, humanističkog putopisca, geografa, kozmografa i kartografa Giuseppea Rosaccia (1530. – 1620.) iz 1590. godine, koji je doživio brojna izdanja.

U ovom zanimljivom primjerku cjelovitoga kataloga sa savjetima za navigaciju džepnog izdanja, Rosaccio ukratko raspravlja o zaobljenosti empirijskog neba, redu nebeskih dijelova, broju sfera, o paklu, čistilištu, raju, središtu i o mjestu potresa i njegovim uzrocima, rijekama i njihovim sadržajima, metalu i njihovu podrijetlu, biljkama i njihovu očuvanju u skladu s prirodom, životinjama svih vrsta, veličini Zemlje u starom i novom vijeku.

Rosacciov Teatro del cielo e della terra propagira ideju svijeta kao sfere. Od samog početka autor sferični oblik postulira kao ideal, pri čemu se njegova razmatranja o Zemlji izvode iz svemirskoga multisfernog modela, jer se u platonističkoj filozofiji kugla smatrala najsavršenijim geometrijskim tijelom.

Na zemljovidima Rosaccio ističe Hrvatsku (CROATIA) i Dalmaciju (DALMATIA), putuje otkrićima i navodi da još uvijek postoje nenaseljene regije, poput Grenlanda i Ognjene zemlje; na južnom rubu Zemlje naznačio je još uvijek neotkrivenu zemlju Terra Incognita Australe.

Drugi izniman portulan/atlas Sredozemnog mora iz 1664. godine djelo je đenovskoga kapetana Francesca Marije Levanta, o kojemu nemamo mnogo podataka. Ovaj portulan je prvo izdanje i jedan od najranijih talijanskih tiskanih pomorskih atlasa. Karte su rađene u Amsterdamu 1663. godine, a atlas je tiskan 1664. u Genovi.

Ovo sjajno djelo, koje nas vraća u 17. st., kada je Venecija još uvijek nadzirala istočne mediteranske putove, opisuje otoke i obale Sredozemlja u 12 zornih predstavljanja dimostratione, a popraćeno je s 25 karata i ilustracijama koje prikazuju poglede na obale i luke.

Ikonografska aparatura u ovom atlasu počinje s razvidno razrađenom alegorijskom i figurativnom naslovnom stranicom, posvetom čitatelju i plemenitom gosp. Giovanniju Battisti della Rovere. Skup karata počinje s dvjema pomorskim kartama Sredozemlja: jedna je opća karta zapadnog, druga istočnog dijela Sredozemlja. Ostale karte su lokalizirani detalji.

Ogledalo mora

Svako predstavljanje počinje ksilografskim inicijalima, ilustriranim mitološkim likovima, maskeronima..., što je ideja koja nesumnjivo dolazi iz srednjovjekovnih načela figurativnog alfabeta, po kojemu su pojedina slova, radi lakšeg pamćenja, građena slikama pojedinih bića ili prizora.

Svako predstavljanje popraćeno je tablicama koje pokazuju udaljenosti u talijanskim ligama. Uz kartografski prikaz sadržavaju obavijesti o lukama i obalama te detaljne podatke o plovidbenim rutama. Tekst je obilno ilustriran lučkim planovima i profilima obala.

Na kartama je otisnuta gusta mreža kompasnih linija i ucrtane su ruže vjetrova. Zabilježeni su glavni toponimi i niz simbola, mala sidra za točke sidrišta, križevi za opasne stijene, sitni kružići za plitke vode.

Atlas sadrži karte koje je razvio sam Levanto, zajedno s drugima preuzetima iz djela Anthonija Jacobsza De Lichtende Colomne Zee-Spiegel, objavljenog 20 godina ranije, koje su koristili brojni kartografi (Goos, Doncker, Thornton, Van Keulen i dr.). Atlas je nadahnut i nazvan po Jacobszovu Zee-spiegelu (Ogledalo mora).
