Postava legendarnog mafijaškog filma "Kum" zajedno s oko 6000 gledatelja na zatvorenoj je projekciji u New Yorku u subotu ponovno, na 45. obljetnicu snimanja filma, pogledala to Oscarom nagrađeno djelo koje je u međuvremenu preraslo u klasik filmske umjetnosti.
Al Pacino smatran je preniskim, Marlon Brando, koji je umro 2004., morao je na probna snimanja a redatelj Francis Ford Coppola u nekoliko je navrata umalo bio zamijenjen jer je vladalo veliko neslaganje između njega i studija, Paramount Picturesa.
Coppola, Pacino, Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, James Caan, Talia Shire i Robert Duvall pogledali su "Kuma" (1972.) i "Kuma II" (1974.) na zatvaranju Tribeca film festivala.
"Nisam vidio te filmove godinama", rekao je Coppola. "Ponovno gledanje bilo je vrlo emotivno iskustvo".
Coppola se prisjetio nekih detalja sa snimanja, kako studio Paramount nije htio Branda jer je imao reputaciju teške osobe te su se bojali da bi mogao poremetiti snimanje. Brando je na koncu dobio Oscara za glavnu ulogu don Vita Corleonea.
Studio se kasnije složio angažirati Branda, ako prođe probno snimanje besplatno i ako se obveže da neće uzrokovati nevolje.
Na njemu je briljirao dubokim hrapavim glasom, poput šapta, obrazima buldoga i nauljenom kosom. Tri tjedna kasnije i dalje je bilo problema.
"Studio je mrzio Branda. Smatrali su da mumlja i nije im se sviđao film. . Sve je izgledalo dosta mračno," rekao je Coppola.
Al Pacino, koji je glumio sina Michaela Corleonea, nije prošao ništa bolje. Zbog svog niskog rasta morao je i on na probna snimanja, a studio je htio Roberta Redforda ili Ryana O'Neala. Coppola je inzistirao na anonimcu koji izgleda kao talijanski Amerikanac.
Bio je uporan jer je, kako je rekao, svaki put kad bi pročitao scenarij imao pred očima sliku Pacina.
Pacino je kazao da je isprva žarko želio ulogu Sonnyja, a Coppola je ludio gurajući ga u ulogu Michaela.
Film je Pacina lansirao u jednog u najnagrađivanijih glumaca njegove generacije.
Sreća je pak odigrala ulogu u nekim od najupečatljivijih scena filma.
Tako je onu u kojoj Corleoneova supruga priznaje da je pobacila bebu iz straha zbog kriminalnih aktivnosti svog supruga sugerirala glumica Talia Shire.
A maca koju Brando gladi u prvog sceni filma bila je vrlo spontana trenutačna odluka.
"Naprosto sam mu gurnuo mačku u ruke. Bila je to neka mačka iz studija", dodao je Coppola.
Danas takav film ne bi mogao biti snimljen, rekao je Coppola, jer bi studiji odbili angažirati se u tom projektu čiji je prvi dio koštao 6 milijuna dolara a drugih između 11 i 12 milijuna.
Dva filma dobila su devet Oscara a njihova priča o stvaranju mafijaške obitelj Corleone postala je filmski klasik.

Postava legendarnog mafijaškog filma "Kum" zajedno s oko 6000 gledatelja na zatvorenoj je projekciji u New Yorku u subotu ponovno, na 45. obljetnicu snimanja filma, pogledala to Oscarom nagrađeno djelo koje je u međuvremenu preraslo u klasik filmske umjetnosti.
Al Pacino smatran je preniskim, Marlon Brando, koji je umro 2004., morao je na probna snimanja a redatelj Francis Ford Coppola u nekoliko je navrata umalo bio zamijenjen jer je vladalo veliko neslaganje između njega i studija, Paramount Picturesa.
Coppola, Pacino, Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton, James Caan, Talia Shire i Robert Duvall pogledali su "Kuma" (1972.) i "Kuma II" (1974.) na zatvaranju Tribeca film festivala.
"Nisam vidio te filmove godinama", rekao je Coppola. "Ponovno gledanje bilo je vrlo emotivno iskustvo".
Coppola se prisjetio nekih detalja sa snimanja, kako studio Paramount nije htio Branda jer je imao reputaciju teške osobe te su se bojali da bi mogao poremetiti snimanje. Brando je na koncu dobio Oscara za glavnu ulogu don Vita Corleonea.
Studio se kasnije složio angažirati Branda, ako prođe probno snimanje besplatno i ako se obveže da neće uzrokovati nevolje.
Na njemu je briljirao dubokim hrapavim glasom, poput šapta, obrazima buldoga i nauljenom kosom. Tri tjedna kasnije i dalje je bilo problema.
"Studio je mrzio Branda. Smatrali su da mumlja i nije im se sviđao film. . Sve je izgledalo dosta mračno," rekao je Coppola.
Al Pacino, koji je glumio sina Michaela Corleonea, nije prošao ništa bolje. Zbog svog niskog rasta morao je i on na probna snimanja, a studio je htio Roberta Redforda ili Ryana O'Neala. Coppola je inzistirao na anonimcu koji izgleda kao talijanski Amerikanac.
Bio je uporan jer je, kako je rekao, svaki put kad bi pročitao scenarij imao pred očima sliku Pacina.
Pacino je kazao da je isprva žarko želio ulogu Sonnyja, a Coppola je ludio gurajući ga u ulogu Michaela.
Film je Pacina lansirao u jednog u najnagrađivanijih glumaca njegove generacije.
Sreća je pak odigrala ulogu u nekim od najupečatljivijih scena filma.
Tako je onu u kojoj Corleoneova supruga priznaje da je pobacila bebu iz straha zbog kriminalnih aktivnosti svog supruga sugerirala glumica Talia Shire.
A maca koju Brando gladi u prvog sceni filma bila je vrlo spontana trenutačna odluka.
"Naprosto sam mu gurnuo mačku u ruke. Bila je to neka mačka iz studija", dodao je Coppola.
Danas takav film ne bi mogao biti snimljen, rekao je Coppola, jer bi studiji odbili angažirati se u tom projektu čiji je prvi dio koštao 6 milijuna dolara a drugih između 11 i 12 milijuna.
Dva filma dobila su devet Oscara a njihova priča o stvaranju mafijaške obitelj Corleone postala je filmski klasik.
