Najstariji mužjak pande Pan Pan uginuo je u 31. godini u Kini, nakon što je iza sebe ostavio 130 potomaka, gotovo četvrtinu svih panda u zatočeništvu diljem svijeta.
Čudesni Pan Pan, kojeg su zvali 'junački otac', uginuo je od raka, objavio je kineski konzervacijski centar velikih panda.
"Stanje mu se rapidno pogoršavalo, nije se mogao kretati ni jesti, gubio je svijest, nismo mu mogli pomoći", objavili su.
Ako su pande poznate po teškom razmnožavanju, Pan Pan je bio izuzetak.

Očekivani životni vijek panda u divljini ne prelazi dvadeset godina. One u zatočeništvu žive dulje, ali Panova dugovječnost je, bez obzira na to, iznimna.
"Da je ljudsko biće bio bi stogodišnjak", kazao je Tan Chengbin, zaposlenik u rezervatu u kojem je Pan proveo posljednje godine života.
Rođen je 1985. u divljini u pokrajini Sečuan, ali je s nekoliko mjeseci premješten u rezervat i ostatak života proveo je u zatočeništvu.
Kina je opsežnim mjerama zaštite uspjela povećati broj panda u prirodi za 16,8 posto u posljednjih deset godina, s 1596 na 1864 primjerka.
To je potaknulo Međunarodnu udrugu za zaštitu prirode da u rujnu ove godine pande skine s popisa najugroženijih vrsta, ali Peking to smatra preuranjenim.

Najstariji mužjak pande Pan Pan uginuo je u 31. godini u Kini, nakon što je iza sebe ostavio 130 potomaka, gotovo četvrtinu svih panda u zatočeništvu diljem svijeta.
Čudesni Pan Pan, kojeg su zvali 'junački otac', uginuo je od raka, objavio je kineski konzervacijski centar velikih panda.
"Stanje mu se rapidno pogoršavalo, nije se mogao kretati ni jesti, gubio je svijest, nismo mu mogli pomoći", objavili su.
Ako su pande poznate po teškom razmnožavanju, Pan Pan je bio izuzetak.

Očekivani životni vijek panda u divljini ne prelazi dvadeset godina. One u zatočeništvu žive dulje, ali Panova dugovječnost je, bez obzira na to, iznimna.
"Da je ljudsko biće bio bi stogodišnjak", kazao je Tan Chengbin, zaposlenik u rezervatu u kojem je Pan proveo posljednje godine života.
Rođen je 1985. u divljini u pokrajini Sečuan, ali je s nekoliko mjeseci premješten u rezervat i ostatak života proveo je u zatočeništvu.
Kina je opsežnim mjerama zaštite uspjela povećati broj panda u prirodi za 16,8 posto u posljednjih deset godina, s 1596 na 1864 primjerka.
To je potaknulo Međunarodnu udrugu za zaštitu prirode da u rujnu ove godine pande skine s popisa najugroženijih vrsta, ali Peking to smatra preuranjenim.
