Prema legendi, francuska kraljica Marija Antoaneta bila je toliko šokirana viješću da je osuđena na smrt giljotiranjem, da je potpuno osijedjela one noći dok je čekala izvršenje kazne.

Izraz “sindrom Marie Antoinette” stoga se odnosi na izuzetno brzo sijeđenje kose. No je li doista moguće da kosa tako brzo sijedi?

– Jedan od prvih primjera korištenja izraza “sindrom Marie Antoinette” nalazimo u studiji objavljenoj 2009. godine. Dokazani slučajevi izrazito brzog sijeđenja kose iznimno su rijetki, iako često čujemo da su neki ljudi praktički posijedili preko noći, što je bila posljedica jakog stresa ili vrlo traumatičnog događaja.

Osim toga, Marija Antoaneta nije jedina povijesna ličnost za koju se kaže da je tako brzo posijedila. Slično se, navodno, dogodilo i Mariji Stuart, škotskoj kraljici, i Thomasu Moreu, svecu i mučeniku, a i kod njih je razlog bila izrečena smrtna presuda.

Nemali broj stručnjaka uvjeren je da naša kosa ne može posijedjeti praktički preko noći – ili da je to gotovo nemoguće. Naglašavaju da se kosa ne sastoji od živih stanica. Dakle, psihosocijalni stresori ne mogu izravno utjecati na kosu ili vlakna kose koja su već formirana. Mogu utjecati samo na vlakna kose koja se tek formiraju.

Iznadprosječno brzo sijeđenje kose obično se tumačilo kao posljedica autoimune bolesti zvane alopecija areata, budući da stres može biti jedan od razloga početka ove bolesti. 

Kao što je poznato, ljudi zahvaćeni alopecijom areatom moraju se suočiti s prekomjernim gubitkom kose – često i kose, obrva i trepavica. Alopecija areata može dovesti do potpunog gubitka kose ili vrlo drastičnog stanjivanja.

Melanocit u folikulima

Kaže se da kosa s više pigmenta posebno brzo ispada. Osoba koja pati od neslužbenog “sindroma Marie Antoinette” možda je prije imala dosta sijedih vlasi, ali ne toliko uočljive. Ako izgubi puno kose, sijeda kosa prirodno se puno više ističe. Tako se može činiti da je netko osijedio praktički preko noći, iako se broj sijedih vlasi nije bitno promijenio.

Studija objavljena u časopisu Nature, ponudila je nešto drukčije objašnjenje. Čini se da su znanstvenici konačno pronašli pravo objašnjenje za sindrom Marie Antoinette.

Iako stres ne može izravno utjecati na kosu, može utjecati na matične stanice melanocita u folikulima dlake, čime se prekida proizvodnja pigmenta. Nakon što matične stanice melanocita nestanu, oštećenje je nepovratno.

Kosa se ne može ponovno pigmentirati, barem ne prirodnim putem. Nije posve jasno koji točno hormoni mogu dovesti do propadanja matičnih stanica melanocita i time do ubrzanog sijeđenja kose.

Čini se da kortizol nije glavni krivac. Kortizol je poznat kao najvažniji hormon stresa, ali postoje i drugi hormoni koji se oslobađaju kada smo pod stresom.

Čini se, dakle, da vrlo težak oblik akutnog stresa ipak može utjecati na izrazito brzo sijeđenje kose, neizravno, preko matičnih stanica melanocita u folikulima.

Sindrom Marie Antoinette je stoga moguć, barem u teoriji. Kosa ne sijedi doslovno preko noći, ali svejedno može biti vrlo vidljivo da je gubitak pigmenta bio iznadprosječno brz.

Prema legendi, francuska kraljica Marija Antoaneta bila je toliko šokirana viješću da je osuđena na smrt giljotiranjem, da je potpuno osijedjela one noći dok je čekala izvršenje kazne.

Izraz “sindrom Marie Antoinette” stoga se odnosi na izuzetno brzo sijeđenje kose. No je li doista moguće da kosa tako brzo sijedi?

– Jedan od prvih primjera korištenja izraza “sindrom Marie Antoinette” nalazimo u studiji objavljenoj 2009. godine. Dokazani slučajevi izrazito brzog sijeđenja kose iznimno su rijetki, iako često čujemo da su neki ljudi praktički posijedili preko noći, što je bila posljedica jakog stresa ili vrlo traumatičnog događaja.

Osim toga, Marija Antoaneta nije jedina povijesna ličnost za koju se kaže da je tako brzo posijedila. Slično se, navodno, dogodilo i Mariji Stuart, škotskoj kraljici, i Thomasu Moreu, svecu i mučeniku, a i kod njih je razlog bila izrečena smrtna presuda.

Nemali broj stručnjaka uvjeren je da naša kosa ne može posijedjeti praktički preko noći – ili da je to gotovo nemoguće. Naglašavaju da se kosa ne sastoji od živih stanica. Dakle, psihosocijalni stresori ne mogu izravno utjecati na kosu ili vlakna kose koja su već formirana. Mogu utjecati samo na vlakna kose koja se tek formiraju.

Iznadprosječno brzo sijeđenje kose obično se tumačilo kao posljedica autoimune bolesti zvane alopecija areata, budući da stres može biti jedan od razloga početka ove bolesti. 

Kao što je poznato, ljudi zahvaćeni alopecijom areatom moraju se suočiti s prekomjernim gubitkom kose – često i kose, obrva i trepavica. Alopecija areata može dovesti do potpunog gubitka kose ili vrlo drastičnog stanjivanja.

Melanocit u folikulima

Kaže se da kosa s više pigmenta posebno brzo ispada. Osoba koja pati od neslužbenog “sindroma Marie Antoinette” možda je prije imala dosta sijedih vlasi, ali ne toliko uočljive. Ako izgubi puno kose, sijeda kosa prirodno se puno više ističe. Tako se može činiti da je netko osijedio praktički preko noći, iako se broj sijedih vlasi nije bitno promijenio.

Studija objavljena u časopisu Nature, ponudila je nešto drukčije objašnjenje. Čini se da su znanstvenici konačno pronašli pravo objašnjenje za sindrom Marie Antoinette.

Iako stres ne može izravno utjecati na kosu, može utjecati na matične stanice melanocita u folikulima dlake, čime se prekida proizvodnja pigmenta. Nakon što matične stanice melanocita nestanu, oštećenje je nepovratno.

Kosa se ne može ponovno pigmentirati, barem ne prirodnim putem. Nije posve jasno koji točno hormoni mogu dovesti do propadanja matičnih stanica melanocita i time do ubrzanog sijeđenja kose.

Čini se da kortizol nije glavni krivac. Kortizol je poznat kao najvažniji hormon stresa, ali postoje i drugi hormoni koji se oslobađaju kada smo pod stresom.

Čini se, dakle, da vrlo težak oblik akutnog stresa ipak može utjecati na izrazito brzo sijeđenje kose, neizravno, preko matičnih stanica melanocita u folikulima.

Sindrom Marie Antoinette je stoga moguć, barem u teoriji. Kosa ne sijedi doslovno preko noći, ali svejedno može biti vrlo vidljivo da je gubitak pigmenta bio iznadprosječno brz.
