Veći dio 70-ih Alan Alda glumio je Hawkeyea, Oko Sokolovo, glavnog kirurga omiljene serije M*A*S*H. No, njegova je karijera šira; scenski je glumac, filmaš, autor, aktivist...

U dobi od 85 godina, šesterostruki dobitnik nagrade Emmy još uvijek nastupa i ugošćuje sugovornike u vlastitu podcastu, među ostalim. No, javnost je zaintrigirao i priznanjem o vlastitoj bolesti; naime, Aldi je 2015. dijagnosticirana Parkinsonova bolest (PD). I iako je javno otkrio svoju dijagnozu tek tri godine kasnije, od tada otvoreno govori o svojim iskustvima s bolešću i o tome kako unatoč tome nastavlja napredovati.

Podijelio je nedavno s publikom i rani znak koji je doveo do njegove dijagnoze, te kako je u novonastale okolnosti involvirana i njegova 64-godišnja supruga Arlene Alda.

Prije šest godina, kada je Alda imao 79 godina, pročitao je članak kolumnistice o osobnom zdravlju New York Timesa (NYT), u kojem je objašnjeno da spontano "glumatanje snova" može biti rani znak Parkinsonove bolesti, dakle bolesti progresivnog živčanog sustava koja uzrokuje oštećenje mozga i utječe na kretanje. To je jako pogodilo Aldu, koji se sjetio da je upravo to nedavno učinio.

– Sanjao sam da me netko napada, a u snu sam na njega bacio vreću krumpira – rekao je, i dometnuo:

– U stvarnosti sam bacio jastuk na svoju ženu – sjetio se glumac i aktivist početka bolesti, njezina prvog znaka.

To je potaknulo Aldu da ode kod neurologa na pretragu mozga i inzistira na preciznoj dijagnozi, koja neće olako odbaciti rani simptom.

– Neurolog me pregledao i rekao: Mislim da vam ne treba skeniranje. Nemate nikakvih simptoma – prisjetio se Alda očekivanog odgovora, koji nije htio prihvatiti kao relevantnog. Ranu dijagnostiku je napravio sam, nije htio zanemariti eksces doživljen (odglumljen) u snu...

Poremećaj ponašanja u snu, koji uključuje sklonost odglumiti snove dok spavamo – ma kako to zbunjujuće zvučalo – upravo je jedan od dijagnostičkih simptoma Parkinsonove bolesti. Melissa J. Nirenberg, doktorica medicine, specijalistica za Parkinsonovu bolest u Medicinskom centru Sveučilišta u New Yorku, rekla je za NYT da "do 80 posto ljudi s poremećajem spavanja dobije Parkinsonovu ili sličnu neurodegenerativnu bolest".

Parkinsonova zaklada napominje da je problem sa spavanjem uobičajen simptom Parkinsonove bolesti, zajedno s podrhtavanjem, poteškoćama u hodu, promjenama u rukopisu i gubitkom mirisa.

Alda se pomno informirao, te doznao da bi kretanje moglo spriječiti pojavu najgorih simptoma Parkinsonove bolesti. Prionuo je intenzivnijem vježbanju, koje uključuje ples uz glazbu, ali i borilački sport.

– Uzimam sate boksa od čovjeka obučenog za Parkinsonovu terapiju. Odradim cijeli trening posebno osmišljen za ovu bolest. Nije kraj svijeta kada dobijete ovu dijagnozu – iznosi Alda svoj ohrabrujući stav.

U Parkinsonovoj zakladi kao terapiju za usporavanje napredovanja bolesti preporučuju još i vožnju bicikla, trčanje i pilates.

Kad je glumac u srpnju 2018. javno objavio da ima Parkinsonovu bolest, istaknuo je da nakon prvog znaka kao preteče prave dijagnoze nije doživio druge simptome odmah. Tek nekoliko mjeseci poslije, prigodom promocije svog podcasta "Clear + Vivid", počeo je primjećivati ​​često trzanje palca, što ga je potaknulo da progovori o svome zdravstvenom stanju.

Nastavak rada dok se Parkinsonova bolest neumitno razvijala potaknuo ga je da se otvori.

– Razlog zbog kojeg želim o tome govoriti u javnosti jest taj što mi je bolest dijagnosticirana prije tri i pol godine, i od tada imam ispunjen život – rekao je.

Naime, osim podcasta, Alda je nastavio držati predavanja u Centru za komunikacijsku znanost "Alan Alda", osnovanom 2009. godine na Sveučilištu Stony Brook. Objavio je i svoju treću autobiografiju te nastavio glumiti. Igrao je uloge u serijama "Ray Donovan" i "The Good Fight", a pojavio se i kao ljubazni odvjetnik za razvod braka u "Priči o braku" 2019. godine.

Iako nije dopustio da ga bolest spriječi u radu, Alda je tijekom intervjua za CBS priznao da je, u osnovi, imao sreću što nije doživio intenzivne Parkinsonove simptome.

– Postoje ljudi koji imaju zaista vidljive simptome s kojima se moraju suočiti, a to je teško – objasnio je.

– Ipak, nije tako teško reći: "Oh, gle, malo sam potresen" – duhovito je poručio glumac, komunikolog i aktivist, koji vlastitim primjerom želi destigmatizirati oboljele od Parkinsonove bolesti, te ih punopravno uključiti u radno aktivno društvo, bez obzira na njihovu dob.

U dobi od 85 godina, šesterostruki dobitnik nagrade Emmy još uvijek nastupa i ugošćuje sugovornike u vlastitu podcastu, među ostalim. No, javnost je zaintrigirao i priznanjem o vlastitoj bolesti; naime, Aldi je 2015. dijagnosticirana Parkinsonova bolest (PD). I iako je javno otkrio svoju dijagnozu tek tri godine kasnije, od tada otvoreno govori o svojim iskustvima s bolešću i o tome kako unatoč tome nastavlja napredovati.

Podijelio je nedavno s publikom i rani znak koji je doveo do njegove dijagnoze, te kako je u novonastale okolnosti involvirana i njegova 64-godišnja supruga Arlene Alda.

Prije šest godina, kada je Alda imao 79 godina, pročitao je članak kolumnistice o osobnom zdravlju New York Timesa (NYT), u kojem je objašnjeno da spontano "glumatanje snova" može biti rani znak Parkinsonove bolesti, dakle bolesti progresivnog živčanog sustava koja uzrokuje oštećenje mozga i utječe na kretanje. To je jako pogodilo Aldu, koji se sjetio da je upravo to nedavno učinio.

– Sanjao sam da me netko napada, a u snu sam na njega bacio vreću krumpira – rekao je, i dometnuo:

– U stvarnosti sam bacio jastuk na svoju ženu – sjetio se glumac i aktivist početka bolesti, njezina prvog znaka.

To je potaknulo Aldu da ode kod neurologa na pretragu mozga i inzistira na preciznoj dijagnozi, koja neće olako odbaciti rani simptom.

– Neurolog me pregledao i rekao: Mislim da vam ne treba skeniranje. Nemate nikakvih simptoma – prisjetio se Alda očekivanog odgovora, koji nije htio prihvatiti kao relevantnog. Ranu dijagnostiku je napravio sam, nije htio zanemariti eksces doživljen (odglumljen) u snu...

Poremećaj ponašanja u snu, koji uključuje sklonost odglumiti snove dok spavamo – ma kako to zbunjujuće zvučalo – upravo je jedan od dijagnostičkih simptoma Parkinsonove bolesti. Melissa J. Nirenberg, doktorica medicine, specijalistica za Parkinsonovu bolest u Medicinskom centru Sveučilišta u New Yorku, rekla je za NYT da "do 80 posto ljudi s poremećajem spavanja dobije Parkinsonovu ili sličnu neurodegenerativnu bolest".

Parkinsonova zaklada napominje da je problem sa spavanjem uobičajen simptom Parkinsonove bolesti, zajedno s podrhtavanjem, poteškoćama u hodu, promjenama u rukopisu i gubitkom mirisa.

Alda se pomno informirao, te doznao da bi kretanje moglo spriječiti pojavu najgorih simptoma Parkinsonove bolesti. Prionuo je intenzivnijem vježbanju, koje uključuje ples uz glazbu, ali i borilački sport.

– Uzimam sate boksa od čovjeka obučenog za Parkinsonovu terapiju. Odradim cijeli trening posebno osmišljen za ovu bolest. Nije kraj svijeta kada dobijete ovu dijagnozu – iznosi Alda svoj ohrabrujući stav.

U Parkinsonovoj zakladi kao terapiju za usporavanje napredovanja bolesti preporučuju još i vožnju bicikla, trčanje i pilates.

Kad je glumac u srpnju 2018. javno objavio da ima Parkinsonovu bolest, istaknuo je da nakon prvog znaka kao preteče prave dijagnoze nije doživio druge simptome odmah. Tek nekoliko mjeseci poslije, prigodom promocije svog podcasta "Clear + Vivid", počeo je primjećivati ​​često trzanje palca, što ga je potaknulo da progovori o svome zdravstvenom stanju.

Nastavak rada dok se Parkinsonova bolest neumitno razvijala potaknuo ga je da se otvori.

– Razlog zbog kojeg želim o tome govoriti u javnosti jest taj što mi je bolest dijagnosticirana prije tri i pol godine, i od tada imam ispunjen život – rekao je.

Naime, osim podcasta, Alda je nastavio držati predavanja u Centru za komunikacijsku znanost "Alan Alda", osnovanom 2009. godine na Sveučilištu Stony Brook. Objavio je i svoju treću autobiografiju te nastavio glumiti. Igrao je uloge u serijama "Ray Donovan" i "The Good Fight", a pojavio se i kao ljubazni odvjetnik za razvod braka u "Priči o braku" 2019. godine.

Iako nije dopustio da ga bolest spriječi u radu, Alda je tijekom intervjua za CBS priznao da je, u osnovi, imao sreću što nije doživio intenzivne Parkinsonove simptome.

– Postoje ljudi koji imaju zaista vidljive simptome s kojima se moraju suočiti, a to je teško – objasnio je.

– Ipak, nije tako teško reći: "Oh, gle, malo sam potresen" – duhovito je poručio glumac, komunikolog i aktivist, koji vlastitim primjerom želi destigmatizirati oboljele od Parkinsonove bolesti, te ih punopravno uključiti u radno aktivno društvo, bez obzira na njihovu dob.
