Rizik da djeca razviju tzv. 'dugi covid', puno je manji nego što se ranije mislio, kazali su vodeći pedijatri, piše BBC.
Nakon što je na tu temu provedena najopsežnija studija dosad, znanstvenici okupljeni oko londonskog sveučilišta kažu kako su sigurni u tu tezu.
U istraživanju koje je između rujna i ožujka provedeno u Engleskoj, sudjelovala su djeca od 11 do 17 godina koja su bila pozitivna na koronavirus, prenosi Jutarnji.
Znanstvenici su zaključili kako je između dva i 15 posto ispitanih imalo simptome bolesti i 15 tjedana kasnije.
Tim je kazao i kako je jako važno da oni koji imaju dugotrajne simptome poput glavobolje, umora i poteškoća s disanjem, prime potrebnu pomoć.
No, nema dokaza da je velik broj djece zatražio liječničku pomoć zbog simptoma koji bi ih prikovali uz krevet ili zbog kojih nisu mogli pohađati nastavu.
U studiji, koja tek treba biti objavljena u medicinskom časopisu, također su prikupljeni podaci o mladim ljudima koji nikad nisu bili pozitivni na covid, što znači da je ukupno ispitano 50.000 ljudi.
Među njima je 53 posto ispitanika nakon 15 tjedana imalo barem jedan simptom, iz jednostavnog razloga jer su ti simptomi česti u općoj populaciji.
Među onima koji su na testu bili pozitivni, taj je postotak iznosio 65 posto.
Značajnija razlika je uočena među onih 30 posto koji su prijavili tri ili više simptoma, u usporedbi sa 16 posto onih koji su također prijavili taj broj simptoma, a nikad nisu bili pozitivni na koronavirus. Rezultati studije ukazuju na to da je 32.000 od skoro 235.000 inficiranih u razdoblju između rujna i ožujka, razvilo simptome dugog covida.
No, brojevi bi mogli biti još i manji.
Samo 13 posto onih koje su zamolili da ispune upitnik, to je zbilja i učinilo. Znanstvenici vjeruju kako su vjerojatno oni koji su osjećali simptome koronavirusa u većoj mjeri ispunjavali upitnik.
U slučaju da su svi s dugim covidom to doista i učinili, to bi značilo da je njihov broj samo 4.000, odnosno dva posto.
Ozbiljno istraživanje
Istraživački tim, među kojima su bili i profesor Terence Stephenson s UCL-ovog Instituta za zdravlje djece, stručnjakinja za dječje zarazne bolesti doktorica Liz Whittaker s Kraljevskog koledža za pedijatriju te drugi javni zdravstveni djelatnici, nastavit će pratiti djecu u nadolazećim mjesecima.
No profesor Stephenson kaže kako je već ranije sumnjao da je podatak o tome da će polovina djece razviti dugi covid - pogrešan.
- Ta brojka nije ni izbliza tako visoka, rekao je i dodao kako unatoč tome brojke 'nisu beznačajne' te da je tom pitanju važno ozbiljno pristupiti.
Najveća je vjerojatnost da će dugotrajne simptome prijaviti starije djevojke koje su od ranije imale lošije fizičko i mentalno zdravlje.
Oni koji imaju emocionalne i psihičke poteškoće mogli bi biti osjetljiviji čak i na blaže simptome, rekli su istraživači, a pozitivan test na koronavirus mogao bi to dodatno potaknuti.
Od djece koja su bila uključena u istraživanje, 40 posto je prijavilo da se osjeća tužno, zabrinuto ili nesretno.
Istraživači su zaključili kako je jasno da je pandemija štetno djelovala na mlade zbog zatvaranje škola, odvojenosti od prijatelja i zabrinutosti zbog rizika od virusa.
To pokazuje koliko je važno vratiti se u normalu i otvoriti škole, dodao je dr. Whittaker.

Rizik da djeca razviju tzv. 'dugi covid', puno je manji nego što se ranije mislio, kazali su vodeći pedijatri, piše BBC.
Nakon što je na tu temu provedena najopsežnija studija dosad, znanstvenici okupljeni oko londonskog sveučilišta kažu kako su sigurni u tu tezu.
U istraživanju koje je između rujna i ožujka provedeno u Engleskoj, sudjelovala su djeca od 11 do 17 godina koja su bila pozitivna na koronavirus, prenosi Jutarnji.
Znanstvenici su zaključili kako je između dva i 15 posto ispitanih imalo simptome bolesti i 15 tjedana kasnije.
Tim je kazao i kako je jako važno da oni koji imaju dugotrajne simptome poput glavobolje, umora i poteškoća s disanjem, prime potrebnu pomoć.
No, nema dokaza da je velik broj djece zatražio liječničku pomoć zbog simptoma koji bi ih prikovali uz krevet ili zbog kojih nisu mogli pohađati nastavu.
U studiji, koja tek treba biti objavljena u medicinskom časopisu, također su prikupljeni podaci o mladim ljudima koji nikad nisu bili pozitivni na covid, što znači da je ukupno ispitano 50.000 ljudi.
Među njima je 53 posto ispitanika nakon 15 tjedana imalo barem jedan simptom, iz jednostavnog razloga jer su ti simptomi česti u općoj populaciji.
Među onima koji su na testu bili pozitivni, taj je postotak iznosio 65 posto.
Značajnija razlika je uočena među onih 30 posto koji su prijavili tri ili više simptoma, u usporedbi sa 16 posto onih koji su također prijavili taj broj simptoma, a nikad nisu bili pozitivni na koronavirus. Rezultati studije ukazuju na to da je 32.000 od skoro 235.000 inficiranih u razdoblju između rujna i ožujka, razvilo simptome dugog covida.
No, brojevi bi mogli biti još i manji.
Samo 13 posto onih koje su zamolili da ispune upitnik, to je zbilja i učinilo. Znanstvenici vjeruju kako su vjerojatno oni koji su osjećali simptome koronavirusa u većoj mjeri ispunjavali upitnik.
U slučaju da su svi s dugim covidom to doista i učinili, to bi značilo da je njihov broj samo 4.000, odnosno dva posto.
Ozbiljno istraživanje
Istraživački tim, među kojima su bili i profesor Terence Stephenson s UCL-ovog Instituta za zdravlje djece, stručnjakinja za dječje zarazne bolesti doktorica Liz Whittaker s Kraljevskog koledža za pedijatriju te drugi javni zdravstveni djelatnici, nastavit će pratiti djecu u nadolazećim mjesecima.
No profesor Stephenson kaže kako je već ranije sumnjao da je podatak o tome da će polovina djece razviti dugi covid - pogrešan.
- Ta brojka nije ni izbliza tako visoka, rekao je i dodao kako unatoč tome brojke 'nisu beznačajne' te da je tom pitanju važno ozbiljno pristupiti.
Najveća je vjerojatnost da će dugotrajne simptome prijaviti starije djevojke koje su od ranije imale lošije fizičko i mentalno zdravlje.
Oni koji imaju emocionalne i psihičke poteškoće mogli bi biti osjetljiviji čak i na blaže simptome, rekli su istraživači, a pozitivan test na koronavirus mogao bi to dodatno potaknuti.
Od djece koja su bila uključena u istraživanje, 40 posto je prijavilo da se osjeća tužno, zabrinuto ili nesretno.
Istraživači su zaključili kako je jasno da je pandemija štetno djelovala na mlade zbog zatvaranje škola, odvojenosti od prijatelja i zabrinutosti zbog rizika od virusa.
To pokazuje koliko je važno vratiti se u normalu i otvoriti škole, dodao je dr. Whittaker.
