Rezultati najnovijeg istraživanja pokazuju da postoji jasna razlika u skeniranju mozga tinejdžera koji su konzumirali marihuanu samo jednom ili dvaput u odnosu na one koji su je izbjegavali, piše National Geographic.

Profesorica Or je u članku objavljenom u Journal of Neuroscience, prenosi Reuters, izjavila da su na temelju rezultata eksperimenata koji su proučavali učinak kanabisa na mozak životinja imali razloga vjerovati da se promjene u mozgu mogu pojaviti čak i u najranijim fazama korištenja marihuane.

Uzmemo li u obzir da oko 35% američkih tinejdžera koristi marihuanu, novi rezultati su zabrinjavajući, ističu znanstvenici. Profesorica Or i njezini kolege primijetili su povećanje volumena sive tvari u području mozga koje je bogato kanabinoidnim receptorima. Siva moždana masa inače se sastoji od živčanih stanica zaduženih za senzomotornu percepciju i kontrolu mišića.

Kako bi dodatno istražio utjecaj umjerene uporabe marihuane na razvoj mozga, tim profesorice Or analizirao je snimke mozga prikupljene za veću studiju koja je ispitivala razvoj mozga adolescenata. Istraživači su usporedili skeniranje mozga 46 14-godišnjaka koji su rekli da su konzumirali marihuanu jednom ili dvaput, sa skeniranjem 46 vršnjaka koji nisu marihuanu, a koji su bili usklađeni po dobi, spolu, sposobnostima, pubertetu, kvocijentu inteligencije, socioekonomskom statusu i upotrebi alkohola i duhan.

Istraživači su uočili jasnu razliku između ove dvije skupine tinejdžera, za koje su pretpostavili da su posljedica konzumiranja marihuane.

Znanstvenici, međutim, priznaju da studija nije dokazala da je marihuana dovela do tih razlika, jer nisu imali njihove snimke prije nego što su konzumirali kanabis. Kako bi riješili ovaj problem, znanstvenici su analizirali snimke treće skupine tinejdžera koji nisu probali marihuanu prije 14-godišnjeg skeniranja mozga. Kada je nakon dvije godine ponovljeno snimanje s ovom grupom, njih 69 izjavilo je da su marihuanu koristili najmanje 10 puta.

Smanjene psihomotoričke sposobnosti

Njihovi snimci mozga u dobi od 14 godina nisu se razlikovali od snimaka djece koja do 16. godine nisu konzumirala kanabis - na temelju čega su znanstvenici zaključili da ne postoje kognitivne razlike u mozgu koje bi mogle predvidjeti tko će postati korisnik marihuane. Rezultati najnovijeg istraživanja pokazuju da postoji jasna razlika u skeniranju mozga tinejdžera koji su konzumirali marihuanu samo jednom ili dvaput u odnosu na one koji su je izbjegavali, piše National Geographic. 

Postoje naznake da čak i male doze marihuane uzrokuju promjene u mozgu, naglašava glavna istraživačica studije Katarina Or, profesorica na Sveučilištu Swinborn u Melbourneu u Australiji.

Profesorica Or je u članku objavljenom u Journal of Neuroscience, prenosi Reuters, izjavila da su na temelju rezultata eksperimenata koji su proučavali učinak kanabisa na mozak životinja imali razloga vjerovati da se promjene u mozgu mogu pojaviti čak i u najranijim fazama korištenja marihuane.

Podaci su zabrinjavajući 

Uzmemo li u obzir da oko 35% američkih tinejdžera koristi marihuanu, novi rezultati su zabrinjavajući, ističu znanstvenici. Profesorica Or i njezini kolege primijetili su povećanje volumena sive tvari u području mozga koje je bogato kanabinoidnim receptorima. Siva moždana masa inače se sastoji od živčanih stanica zaduženih za senzomotornu percepciju i kontrolu mišića.

Kako bi dodatno istražio utjecaj umjerene uporabe marihuane na razvoj mozga, tim profesorice Or analizirao je snimke mozga prikupljene za veću studiju koja je ispitivala razvoj mozga adolescenata. Istraživači su usporedili skeniranje mozga 46 14-godišnjaka koji su rekli da su konzumirali marihuanu jednom ili dvaput, sa skeniranjem 46 vršnjaka koji nisu marihuanu, a koji su bili usklađeni po dobi, spolu, sposobnostima, pubertetu, kvocijentu inteligencije, socioekonomskom statusu i upotrebi alkohola i duhan.

Istraživači su uočili jasnu razliku između ove dvije skupine tinejdžera, za koje su pretpostavili da su posljedica konzumiranja marihuane.

Znanstvenici, međutim, priznaju da studija nije dokazala da je marihuana dovela do tih razlika, jer nisu imali njihove snimke prije nego što su konzumirali kanabis. Kako bi riješili ovaj problem, znanstvenici su analizirali snimke treće skupine tinejdžera koji nisu probali marihuanu prije 14-godišnjeg skeniranja mozga. Kada je nakon dvije godine ponovljeno snimanje s ovom grupom, njih 69 izjavilo je da su marihuanu koristili najmanje 10 puta.

Smanjene psihomotoričke sposobnosti

Njihovi snimci mozga u dobi od 14 godina nisu se razlikovali od snimaka djece koja do 16. godine nisu konzumirala kanabis - na temelju čega su znanstvenici zaključili da ne postoje kognitivne razlike u mozgu koje bi mogle predvidjeti tko će postati korisnik marihuane. Novi rezultati samo su korak prema razumijevanju učinaka kanabisa na mladi mozak, kaže dr. Michael Lynch, toksikolog i liječnik hitne medicine, ravnatelj Toksikološkog centra u Pittsburghu. Lynch vjeruje da će mozak adolescenata postati sve ranjiviji, i zbog droga i zagađenja zraka.
