Postoji oko pedeset posto šanse da će 2023. biti najtoplija ikad zabilježena godina, a očekuje se da će 2024. biti još gora, predvidjeli su u ponedjeljak znanstvenici američke vlade.
Do sada je 2023. treća najtoplija zabilježena godina, rekla je Sarah Kapnick, glavna znanstvenica američke Agencije za oceanska i atmosferska promatranja (NOAA). A vjerojatnost da će postati najtoplija iznosi "skoro 50 posto", dodala je.
Osim globalnog zatopljenja, tome doprinosi i ciklički fenomen El Nino, sinonim za dodatno globalno zatopljenje, koji zagrijava površine oceana.
Trebao bi potrajati i nakon sljedeće zime, predviđaju stručnjaci.
"Najjači utjecaj El Nina dogodit će se 2024. godine", rekao je NASA-in klimatolog Gavin Schmidt.
"Stoga očekujemo ne samo da će 2023. biti izrazito vruća, a možda i rekordna godina, nego i da će 2024. biti još toplija."
Oboje su govorili na konferenciji za novinare posvećenoj analizi globalnih temperatura zabilježenih prošlog mjeseca, za koji je NOAA potvrdila da je bio rekordan mjesec.
Srpanj 2023. bio je najtopliji ikad zabilježen mjesec na zemlji, potvrdila je prošli tjedan i europska služba Copernicus.
“Važno je zapamtiti da će ove godine biti svježe u usporedbi sa sredinom stoljeća ako nastavimo zagrijavati naš planet emitiranjem stakleničkih plinova”, istaknula je Sarah Kapnick.
Površinska temperatura oceana osobito uznemiruje znanstvenike: već četvrti mjesec zaredom dosegla je rekord, prema NOAA-i.
"Više od 40 posto oceana trenutačno je pod morskim toplinskim valom", upozorila je Kapnick.
To ima potencijalno katastrofalne posljedice na vrste koje tamo žive, osobito na koralje.
“Majka priroda šalje nam poruku, a ta poruka glasi: bolje da djelujemo sada, prije nego što bude prekasno da spasimo našu klimu, odnosno, drugim riječima, spasimo naš planet”, rekao je šef NASA-e, Bill Nelson.

Do sada je 2023. treća najtoplija zabilježena godina, rekla je Sarah Kapnick, glavna znanstvenica američke Agencije za oceanska i atmosferska promatranja (NOAA). A vjerojatnost da će postati najtoplija iznosi "skoro 50 posto", dodala je.
Osim globalnog zatopljenja, tome doprinosi i ciklički fenomen El Nino, sinonim za dodatno globalno zatopljenje, koji zagrijava površine oceana.
Trebao bi potrajati i nakon sljedeće zime, predviđaju stručnjaci.
"Najjači utjecaj El Nina dogodit će se 2024. godine", rekao je NASA-in klimatolog Gavin Schmidt.
"Stoga očekujemo ne samo da će 2023. biti izrazito vruća, a možda i rekordna godina, nego i da će 2024. biti još toplija."
Oboje su govorili na konferenciji za novinare posvećenoj analizi globalnih temperatura zabilježenih prošlog mjeseca, za koji je NOAA potvrdila da je bio rekordan mjesec.
Srpanj 2023. bio je najtopliji ikad zabilježen mjesec na zemlji, potvrdila je prošli tjedan i europska služba Copernicus.
“Važno je zapamtiti da će ove godine biti svježe u usporedbi sa sredinom stoljeća ako nastavimo zagrijavati naš planet emitiranjem stakleničkih plinova”, istaknula je Sarah Kapnick.
Površinska temperatura oceana osobito uznemiruje znanstvenike: već četvrti mjesec zaredom dosegla je rekord, prema NOAA-i.
"Više od 40 posto oceana trenutačno je pod morskim toplinskim valom", upozorila je Kapnick.
To ima potencijalno katastrofalne posljedice na vrste koje tamo žive, osobito na koralje.
“Majka priroda šalje nam poruku, a ta poruka glasi: bolje da djelujemo sada, prije nego što bude prekasno da spasimo našu klimu, odnosno, drugim riječima, spasimo naš planet”, rekao je šef NASA-e, Bill Nelson.
