U posljednje vrijeme u javnom prostoru, a najčešće u političkom i politikantskom duhu, plasira se teza kako je Split posljednjih godina provincija u kojoj, uz časnu iznimku Simple Mindsa, kojoj ipak mnogi pronalaze zamjerku, nije nastupila ni jedna zvijezda europskog ili svjetskog formata.
Sve zamjerke toga tipa imaju uporište u jednoj branši – koncertima popularnih glazbenika kojih zbilja u Splitu nije ni čuti ni vidjeti. U smislu velikih, svjetskih ili makar europskih gostovanja, osim ocvalih Mindsa, ali i Ultre, u Splitu nitko s estradne pozornice svijeta nije kročio nogom oho-ho godina, a i oni su bili u Splitu uz izdašnu pomoć gradske blagajne.
Svi znademo da se donedavnom gradonačelniku i danas, tri godine nakon žnjanskog nastupa škotskih glazbenika, tura pod nos milijun i pol kuna s koliko je Grad pomogao taj događaj što je, uz uplatu Turističke zajednice tešku oko 600 tisuća, pa čak i HEP-a koji je odriješio kesu za 250 tisuća kuna, doista bila bogovska pomoć.
No, gotovo bez ikakve pomoći, bilo grada ili ikoga tko raspolaže javnim novcem, Split je posljednjih nekoliko godina ugostio velike zvijezde, ali...
Te zvijezde ne pjevaju i ne plešu, dapače, te zvijezde uopće ne zabavljaju široke narodne mase premda njihova imena i njihovo djelo impresioniraju svakog iole kulturnog Europljanina.
Riječ je o kiparima i slikarima, a upravo ovih dana jedna od takvih veličina gostuje u Splitu. Njegovo je ime Richard Deacon, počasni vitez kojemu je naslov dodijelila sama kraljica Elizabeta za njegov kiparski i općenito umjetnički doprinos.
Prije samo godinu i pol tu je bio sir Tony Cragg, također britanski kipar čija djela postižu nevjerojatne cijene, tu je izlagao Mimmo Paladino, kultni talijanski umjetnik, tu upravo ovih dana kustoski posao na Splitgraphic bijenalu odrađuje Yoshi Imamura, tu smo samo u zadnjih nekoliko godina mogli vidjeti velikane od Brace Dimitrijevića do Petera Halleyja, Lauren Clay i Heima Zoberniga, od Dana Perjovschog do Matta Mullicana i Juliãoa Sarmenta, od, uostalom, Safeta Zeca do Vladimira Veličkovića...
Dobar dio tih velikana dovela je mikro galerija Kula, a ostale Galerija umjetnina uz minimalnu ili nikakvu pomoć bilo koga iz Grada, Županije ili iz Ministarstva kulture.
Nikad neću zaboraviti gostovanje Christiana Ludwiga Atterseea, koji je u Splitu imao izložbu prije dvije godine, kome je na otvorenje iz Beča došla velika grupa bogatih obožavatelja. Stigli su jahtom u grad, posjetili izložbu, malo se šetali, večerali, družili se i otišli.
Treba li reći da ni Atterseea ni skoro nijednog od tih umjetnika nitko iz Banovine nije došao pozdraviti?
Uostalom, i Ivu Pogorelića, pijanista svjetskoga glasa, tadašnji je gradonačelnik Željko Kerum došao upoznati na jedvite jade, teškom mukom uspijevajući ne zaspati na koncertu u HNK.
Ukratko, u Split zvijezde dolaze i nastupaju, samo... Samo to nisu zvijezde kojima se klanjaju ljudi prosječnog i ispodprosječnoga ukusa. No, njihova gostovanja pokazuju da i Split ima publiku za odlikaše, a njih, sine, nigdje - pa ni ovdje! - nema puno.

U posljednje vrijeme u javnom prostoru, a najčešće u političkom i politikantskom duhu, plasira se teza kako je Split posljednjih godina provincija u kojoj, uz časnu iznimku Simple Mindsa, kojoj ipak mnogi pronalaze zamjerku, nije nastupila ni jedna zvijezda europskog ili svjetskog formata.
Sve zamjerke toga tipa imaju uporište u jednoj branši – koncertima popularnih glazbenika kojih zbilja u Splitu nije ni čuti ni vidjeti. U smislu velikih, svjetskih ili makar europskih gostovanja, osim ocvalih Mindsa, ali i Ultre, u Splitu nitko s estradne pozornice svijeta nije kročio nogom oho-ho godina, a i oni su bili u Splitu uz izdašnu pomoć gradske blagajne.
Svi znademo da se donedavnom gradonačelniku i danas, tri godine nakon žnjanskog nastupa škotskih glazbenika, tura pod nos milijun i pol kuna s koliko je Grad pomogao taj događaj što je, uz uplatu Turističke zajednice tešku oko 600 tisuća, pa čak i HEP-a koji je odriješio kesu za 250 tisuća kuna, doista bila bogovska pomoć.
No, gotovo bez ikakve pomoći, bilo grada ili ikoga tko raspolaže javnim novcem, Split je posljednjih nekoliko godina ugostio velike zvijezde, ali...
Te zvijezde ne pjevaju i ne plešu, dapače, te zvijezde uopće ne zabavljaju široke narodne mase premda njihova imena i njihovo djelo impresioniraju svakog iole kulturnog Europljanina.
Riječ je o kiparima i slikarima, a upravo ovih dana jedna od takvih veličina gostuje u Splitu. Njegovo je ime Richard Deacon, počasni vitez kojemu je naslov dodijelila sama kraljica Elizabeta za njegov kiparski i općenito umjetnički doprinos.
Prije samo godinu i pol tu je bio sir Tony Cragg, također britanski kipar čija djela postižu nevjerojatne cijene, tu je izlagao Mimmo Paladino, kultni talijanski umjetnik, tu upravo ovih dana kustoski posao na Splitgraphic bijenalu odrađuje Yoshi Imamura, tu smo samo u zadnjih nekoliko godina mogli vidjeti velikane od Brace Dimitrijevića do Petera Halleyja, Lauren Clay i Heima Zoberniga, od Dana Perjovschog do Matta Mullicana i Juliãoa Sarmenta, od, uostalom, Safeta Zeca do Vladimira Veličkovića...
Dobar dio tih velikana dovela je mikro galerija Kula, a ostale Galerija umjetnina uz minimalnu ili nikakvu pomoć bilo koga iz Grada, Županije ili iz Ministarstva kulture.
Nikad neću zaboraviti gostovanje Christiana Ludwiga Atterseea, koji je u Splitu imao izložbu prije dvije godine, kome je na otvorenje iz Beča došla velika grupa bogatih obožavatelja. Stigli su jahtom u grad, posjetili izložbu, malo se šetali, večerali, družili se i otišli.
Treba li reći da ni Atterseea ni skoro nijednog od tih umjetnika nitko iz Banovine nije došao pozdraviti?
Uostalom, i Ivu Pogorelića, pijanista svjetskoga glasa, tadašnji je gradonačelnik Željko Kerum došao upoznati na jedvite jade, teškom mukom uspijevajući ne zaspati na koncertu u HNK.
Ukratko, u Split zvijezde dolaze i nastupaju, samo... Samo to nisu zvijezde kojima se klanjaju ljudi prosječnog i ispodprosječnoga ukusa. No, njihova gostovanja pokazuju da i Split ima publiku za odlikaše, a njih, sine, nigdje - pa ni ovdje! - nema puno.
