Godine 1983., kad je Igor Mandić objavio monografiju o Arsenu Dediću, glavni junak knjige tek je bio navršio četrdeset petu. Pred njim su bila još duga desetljeća stvaranja, premda se činilo kako se već do toga časa naradio barem za petoricu natprosječno marljivih ljudi. I zbilja, da je kojom pegulom tih dana preminuo, svejedno bi ostao cementiran u našoj kolektivnoj memoriji kao veliki kantautor, pjesnik te skladatelj filmske, kazališne i televizijske glazbe.

Toliko velik da dobro pamtim – na svoju žalost, jer to znači da baš i nisam prva mladost – kako sam po izlasku monografije bio neugodno iznenađen činjenicom da se radi o prvome libru koji se bavi velikom temom opusa Arsena Dedića. Mladom i naivnom, činilo mi se kako je besprimjerna sramota da nitko prije Mandića nije osjetio potrebu uhvatiti se ukoštac sa svime što je izišlo iz "tihog obrta" u Haulikovoj ulici. Ne samo potrebu, nego i obvezu.

Vjerovao sam, naime, da su muzikološke i komparatističke katedre dužne baviti se ne samo časnim pokojnicima, nego i našim velikim suvremenicima. Starom i naivnom, to mi se čini i danas, ali tko mi je kriv. Jer, trebalo je proći punih 37 godina da se pronađe netko tko će se odvažiti na pisanje nove knjige o Arsenu. Naravno, taj netko nije akademski umrežen, budžetski pofutran i statusno bezbrižan, nego već desetljećima brodi ćudljivim vodama slobodnoga tržišta kao publicist opće prakse.

JEZIK STAROGA CINIKA

Odmah da budemo načistu, "Arsen – Čovjek kao on" Zlatka Galla nije libar kojim se može začepiti zjapeća rupa od 37 godina knjiške šutnje. Nijedan pojedinačni naslov ne bi mogao udovoljiti toj zadaći, pa ne može ni ovaj. Konačno – ili prije svega – nije ni pisan s takvim ambicijama. Jer ovdje se ne radi o biografiji, koliko o portretu jedne umjetničke karijere s razumljivim naglaskom na diskografske tragove Dedićeva opusa. Razumljivim utoliko što je autor kritičar s najduljim stažom u nas, k tome i enciklopedist kojemu je glazba temeljno područje interesa i ekspertize.

Naravno, kako je protagonist libra bio autorski multipraktik blagoslovljen s puno talenata koji su se skladno preplitali, o njemu nije bilo moguće pisati baveći se samo jednom stranom njegove karijere, a zanemarujući sve druge bitne aspekte. Utoliko je Gallov libar instruktivan kao početnica za otkrivanje Arsena kao pjesnika ili, recimo, skladatelja filmske glazbe, ali ne i puno više od toga. S druge strane, njegov je diskografski opus predstavljen temeljito i ne bez peckavih, kritičkih tonova, bez obzira na činjenicu što autor ne skriva goleme simpatije prema Arsenovoj glazbi ili upravo zbog toga.

Velika dragocjenost knjige jest obilno korištenje pomalo zaboravljenih izvora, kao što su, recimo, stari intervjui među kojima se izdvaja zamašni razgovor s Petrom Lukovićem koji je prije trideset godina publiciran u knjizi "Bolja prošlost", ili Arsenov dnevnik koji je potkraj šezdesetih godina u nastavcima objavljivan na stranicama "Plavog vjesnika". Ti fragmenti koje Gall izdašno citira, osobito u prvoj trećini knjige, zgodno su podsjećanje na činjenicu da Arsen nije bio samo stari cinik koji je na koncertima između dviju pjesama ispaljivao blistave aforističke one-linere i čijeg su se jezika, odnosno brzine i oštrine reagiranja, svi njegovi znanci pomalo plašili.

PRIJATELJSKI NETALENTIRAN

Bio je intelektualac iznimnog obrazovanja, vrlo senzibilan čovjek, oštrouman dijagnostičar društvenih prilika, vrlo usredotočen pripovjedač te zabavljač kojemu je bilo itekako stalo ugoditi publici, ali, u isti mah, i sačuvati svoju slobodu, odnosno izdvojenu, nezavisnu poziciju. Zvuči paradoksalno, ali je tako. I to nije jedino proturječje koje je obilježilo njegov život.

Iako vlastitim izborom vuk samotnjak ili čagalj, kako se sam definirao, uvijek se trsio pronaći sebi slične, (u)družiti se i raditi s njima. A čini se da nije imao osobitog talenta za biranje prijatelja, o čemu zorno svjedoče slučajevi Mome Kapora, Bore Đorđevića, pa i stanovitih Hrvata čiji su šovenski potencijali dugo bili zatajeni, da bi se onda, u nevrijeme, do kraja realizirali. Konačno, s razlogom najusamljeniji čovjek na estradi (kojoj zapravo nikad nije ni pripadao), vjerojatno je bio i šampion u bizarnoj disciplini snimanja dueta s kolegama, s navodnicima i bez njih, jer se nije skanjivao sekundirati čak i totalnim, karikaturalnim bezveznjacima.

Puno je toga što bi se o Arsenu moglo, odnosno moralo napisati, nezanemariv dio njegova golemog opusa tek čeka svoju valorizaciju, a što je značio za kulturu ove zemlje i nekoliko susjednih, na koga je sve, kako i koliko utjecao, tek ostaje da se izmjeri. Bilo bi stoga lijepo da Gallovim stazama krenu i drugi.

Godine 1983., kad je Igor Mandić objavio monografiju o Arsenu Dediću, glavni junak knjige tek je bio navršio četrdeset petu. Pred njim su bila još duga desetljeća stvaranja, premda se činilo kako se već do toga časa naradio barem za petoricu natprosječno marljivih ljudi. I zbilja, da je kojom pegulom tih dana preminuo, svejedno bi ostao cementiran u našoj kolektivnoj memoriji kao veliki kantautor, pjesnik te skladatelj filmske, kazališne i televizijske glazbe.

Toliko velik da dobro pamtim – na svoju žalost, jer to znači da baš i nisam prva mladost – kako sam po izlasku monografije bio neugodno iznenađen činjenicom da se radi o prvome libru koji se bavi velikom temom opusa Arsena Dedića. Mladom i naivnom, činilo mi se kako je besprimjerna sramota da nitko prije Mandića nije osjetio potrebu uhvatiti se ukoštac sa svime što je izišlo iz "tihog obrta" u Haulikovoj ulici. Ne samo potrebu, nego i obvezu.

Vjerovao sam, naime, da su muzikološke i komparatističke katedre dužne baviti se ne samo časnim pokojnicima, nego i našim velikim suvremenicima. Starom i naivnom, to mi se čini i danas, ali tko mi je kriv. Jer, trebalo je proći punih 37 godina da se pronađe netko tko će se odvažiti na pisanje nove knjige o Arsenu. Naravno, taj netko nije akademski umrežen, budžetski pofutran i statusno bezbrižan, nego već desetljećima brodi ćudljivim vodama slobodnoga tržišta kao publicist opće prakse.

JEZIK STAROGA CINIKA

Odmah da budemo načistu, "Arsen – Čovjek kao on" Zlatka Galla nije libar kojim se može začepiti zjapeća rupa od 37 godina knjiške šutnje. Nijedan pojedinačni naslov ne bi mogao udovoljiti toj zadaći, pa ne može ni ovaj. Konačno – ili prije svega – nije ni pisan s takvim ambicijama. Jer ovdje se ne radi o biografiji, koliko o portretu jedne umjetničke karijere s razumljivim naglaskom na diskografske tragove Dedićeva opusa. Razumljivim utoliko što je autor kritičar s najduljim stažom u nas, k tome i enciklopedist kojemu je glazba temeljno područje interesa i ekspertize.

Naravno, kako je protagonist libra bio autorski multipraktik blagoslovljen s puno talenata koji su se skladno preplitali, o njemu nije bilo moguće pisati baveći se samo jednom stranom njegove karijere, a zanemarujući sve druge bitne aspekte. Utoliko je Gallov libar instruktivan kao početnica za otkrivanje Arsena kao pjesnika ili, recimo, skladatelja filmske glazbe, ali ne i puno više od toga. S druge strane, njegov je diskografski opus predstavljen temeljito i ne bez peckavih, kritičkih tonova, bez obzira na činjenicu što autor ne skriva goleme simpatije prema Arsenovoj glazbi ili upravo zbog toga.

Velika dragocjenost knjige jest obilno korištenje pomalo zaboravljenih izvora, kao što su, recimo, stari intervjui među kojima se izdvaja zamašni razgovor s Petrom Lukovićem koji je prije trideset godina publiciran u knjizi "Bolja prošlost", ili Arsenov dnevnik koji je potkraj šezdesetih godina u nastavcima objavljivan na stranicama "Plavog vjesnika". Ti fragmenti koje Gall izdašno citira, osobito u prvoj trećini knjige, zgodno su podsjećanje na činjenicu da Arsen nije bio samo stari cinik koji je na koncertima između dviju pjesama ispaljivao blistave aforističke one-linere i čijeg su se jezika, odnosno brzine i oštrine reagiranja, svi njegovi znanci pomalo plašili.

PRIJATELJSKI NETALENTIRAN

Bio je intelektualac iznimnog obrazovanja, vrlo senzibilan čovjek, oštrouman dijagnostičar društvenih prilika, vrlo usredotočen pripovjedač te zabavljač kojemu je bilo itekako stalo ugoditi publici, ali, u isti mah, i sačuvati svoju slobodu, odnosno izdvojenu, nezavisnu poziciju. Zvuči paradoksalno, ali je tako. I to nije jedino proturječje koje je obilježilo njegov život.

Iako vlastitim izborom vuk samotnjak ili čagalj, kako se sam definirao, uvijek se trsio pronaći sebi slične, (u)družiti se i raditi s njima. A čini se da nije imao osobitog talenta za biranje prijatelja, o čemu zorno svjedoče slučajevi Mome Kapora, Bore Đorđevića, pa i stanovitih Hrvata čiji su šovenski potencijali dugo bili zatajeni, da bi se onda, u nevrijeme, do kraja realizirali. Konačno, s razlogom najusamljeniji čovjek na estradi (kojoj zapravo nikad nije ni pripadao), vjerojatno je bio i šampion u bizarnoj disciplini snimanja dueta s kolegama, s navodnicima i bez njih, jer se nije skanjivao sekundirati čak i totalnim, karikaturalnim bezveznjacima.

Puno je toga što bi se o Arsenu moglo, odnosno moralo napisati, nezanemariv dio njegova golemog opusa tek čeka svoju valorizaciju, a što je značio za kulturu ove zemlje i nekoliko susjednih, na koga je sve, kako i koliko utjecao, tek ostaje da se izmjeri. Bilo bi stoga lijepo da Gallovim stazama krenu i drugi.

Godine 1983., kad je Igor Mandić objavio monografiju o Arsenu Dediću, glavni junak knjige tek je bio navršio četrdeset petu. Pred njim su bila još duga desetljeća stvaranja, premda se činilo kako se već do toga časa naradio barem za petoricu natprosječno marljivih ljudi.
