Bilježeći početkom lipnja 20. godišnjicu "Ludih za oružjem", dokumentarca o pokoljima u američkim školama, spomenuli smo da je obol toj temi dao i prošlogodišnji film "Misa" ("Mass") koji još nije stigao pred hrvatsku publiku.

Organizatori Festivala tolerancije kao da su čuli vapaj za "Misom" i upriličili su hrvatsku premijeru izvrsnog redateljskog i scenarističkog prvijenca glumca Frana Kranza ("Koliba u šumi"). "Mass" je jedna od najboljih i najtenzičnijih drama posljednjih godina, svakako film za godišnju "best of" listu.

Kranzov dramski koncept je jedinstven u nadovezivanju na filmove o školskim masakrima, od "Bowling For Columbine" do nedavnog trilera "Sat očaja".

Svakojakih smo filmova ovog tipa vidjeli unatrag 20 godina ("Slon", "Moramo razgovarati o Kevinu", "Trči, sakrij se, bori se"), ali u nijednom dosad nismo gledali sučeljavanje roditelja mladića ubijenog u pokolju s roditeljima mladića koji je taj pokolj izazvao i na kraju i sebi oduzeo život nakon što ga je oduzeo mnogima.

"Misa" je upravo tako postavljena i praktički se cijeli film odvija za jednim stolom u sobi za sastanke unutar episkopalne crkve. Uvodnih pet minuta otpada na pripremanje njihovog sastanka koji "hendla" socijalna radnica (Michelle N. Carter). "Bit će ih četvero", kaže ona dok sa zaposlenicima crkve namješta poziciju stola. Idući kadar prikazuje roditelje Jay (nikad bolji Jason Isaacs u "against type" ulozi) i Gail (odlična Martha Plimpton; jedna od zvijezda "Gooniesa") u automobilu ispred crkve.

"Ne znam mogu li ja ovo", govori Gail, ali ipak uđe u sobu s Jayem i nađe se s drugim roditeljima, Richardom (solidni Reed Birney) i Lindom (sjajna Ann Dowd). "Stol, stolice, Isus nas promatra, odlično", pokušava Jay probiti led i olabaviti napetost razasutu u zraku.

Lokacija je stvorena za kazališnu predstavu, ali Kranz nije teatarski nastrojen, kamoli teatralan. Glumac u ulozi redatelja često mijenja planove i poseže za filmskim tehnikama nedostupnim kazalištarcima i kazališnim gledateljima (osim ako sami ne "režiraju" predstavu pomoću dalekozora), konkretno dojmljivim intimnim krupnim kadrovima njegovih aktera koji ih znalački nose.

Ovo nije kazališna predstava, nego filmska drama u realnom vremenu i u jednom prostoru poput "12 gnevnih ljudi" ili "Bračnih svađa". Kranz intrigantno postavlja i likove. Treba neko vrijeme proći da se otkrije tko su roditelji žrtve (Jay i Gail), a tko roditelji ubojice (Richard i Linda).

To što je sin jednih ubio sina drugih stvara tenzije koje polako kipe kako ranjena duša Jaya i Gail sve više ključa od bijesa i boli. Ipak, njih dvoje žele da im rane zacijele, da ne budu osvetoljubivi i da nekako nastave dalje sa životom, a možda bi i mogli ako iskažu osjećaje u razgovoru s Richardom i Lindom te doznaju "kako i zašto se to dogodilo".

Ono što slijedi je slojevita, emotivno intenzivna drama o reperkusijama nasilja, k(r)ivnji, tugi, oprostu, procesuiranju tragedije i mogućem iscjeljenju s fantastično napisanim dijalozima i izvedbama glumaca čiji likovi izgledaju kao stvarni ljudi u ekstremo ranjivu stanju i njihove emocije su time još opipljivije.

Ovo je i film o roditeljstvu i odgoju, preuzimanju odgovornosti za postupke djece koja, neovisno o odrastanju s dobrim majkama i očevima, mogu spletom drugih nesretnih okolnosti izrasti u monstrume, biti okrutna i zapucati na drugu djecu. "Odgojila sam ubojicu", zavapi Linda preplavljena krivnjom zbog posljedica sinovog postupka, dok se Gail boji da će izgubiti sina ako im oprosti. Kompleksan i snažan film.

Film je snimljen za nevjerojatnih 14 dana, od čega je četiri otpalo na kadrove eksterijera. Ovaj podatak sugerira s kolikom je pred-pripremom Kranz ušao u projekt.

Bilježeći početkom lipnja 20. godišnjicu "Ludih za oružjem", dokumentarca o pokoljima u američkim školama, spomenuli smo da je obol toj temi dao i prošlogodišnji film "Misa" ("Mass") koji još nije stigao pred hrvatsku publiku.

Organizatori Festivala tolerancije kao da su čuli vapaj za "Misom" i upriličili su hrvatsku premijeru izvrsnog redateljskog i scenarističkog prvijenca glumca Frana Kranza ("Koliba u šumi"). "Mass" je jedna od najboljih i najtenzičnijih drama posljednjih godina, svakako film za godišnju "best of" listu.

Kranzov dramski koncept je jedinstven u nadovezivanju na filmove o školskim masakrima, od "Bowling For Columbine" do nedavnog trilera "Sat očaja".

Svakojakih smo filmova ovog tipa vidjeli unatrag 20 godina ("Slon", "Moramo razgovarati o Kevinu", "Trči, sakrij se, bori se"), ali u nijednom dosad nismo gledali sučeljavanje roditelja mladića ubijenog u pokolju s roditeljima mladića koji je taj pokolj izazvao i na kraju i sebi oduzeo život nakon što ga je oduzeo mnogima.

"Misa" je upravo tako postavljena i praktički se cijeli film odvija za jednim stolom u sobi za sastanke unutar episkopalne crkve. Uvodnih pet minuta otpada na pripremanje njihovog sastanka koji "hendla" socijalna radnica (Michelle N. Carter). "Bit će ih četvero", kaže ona dok sa zaposlenicima crkve namješta poziciju stola. Idući kadar prikazuje roditelje Jay (nikad bolji Jason Isaacs u "against type" ulozi) i Gail (odlična Martha Plimpton; jedna od zvijezda "Gooniesa") u automobilu ispred crkve.

"Ne znam mogu li ja ovo", govori Gail, ali ipak uđe u sobu s Jayem i nađe se s drugim roditeljima, Richardom (solidni Reed Birney) i Lindom (sjajna Ann Dowd). "Stol, stolice, Isus nas promatra, odlično", pokušava Jay probiti led i olabaviti napetost razasutu u zraku.

Lokacija je stvorena za kazališnu predstavu, ali Kranz nije teatarski nastrojen, kamoli teatralan. Glumac u ulozi redatelja često mijenja planove i poseže za filmskim tehnikama nedostupnim kazalištarcima i kazališnim gledateljima (osim ako sami ne "režiraju" predstavu pomoću dalekozora), konkretno dojmljivim intimnim krupnim kadrovima njegovih aktera koji ih znalački nose.

Ovo nije kazališna predstava, nego filmska drama u realnom vremenu i u jednom prostoru poput "12 gnevnih ljudi" ili "Bračnih svađa". Kranz intrigantno postavlja i likove. Treba neko vrijeme proći da se otkrije tko su roditelji žrtve (Jay i Gail), a tko roditelji ubojice (Richard i Linda).

To što je sin jednih ubio sina drugih stvara tenzije koje polako kipe kako ranjena duša Jaya i Gail sve više ključa od bijesa i boli. Ipak, njih dvoje žele da im rane zacijele, da ne budu osvetoljubivi i da nekako nastave dalje sa životom, a možda bi i mogli ako iskažu osjećaje u razgovoru s Richardom i Lindom te doznaju "kako i zašto se to dogodilo".

Ono što slijedi je slojevita, emotivno intenzivna drama o reperkusijama nasilja, k(r)ivnji, tugi, oprostu, procesuiranju tragedije i mogućem iscjeljenju s fantastično napisanim dijalozima i izvedbama glumaca čiji likovi izgledaju kao stvarni ljudi u ekstremo ranjivu stanju i njihove emocije su time još opipljivije.

Ovo je i film o roditeljstvu i odgoju, preuzimanju odgovornosti za postupke djece koja, neovisno o odrastanju s dobrim majkama i očevima, mogu spletom drugih nesretnih okolnosti izrasti u monstrume, biti okrutna i zapucati na drugu djecu. "Odgojila sam ubojicu", zavapi Linda preplavljena krivnjom zbog posljedica sinovog postupka, dok se Gail boji da će izgubiti sina ako im oprosti. Kompleksan i snažan film.

Film je snimljen za nevjerojatnih 14 dana, od čega je četiri otpalo na kadrove eksterijera. Ovaj podatak sugerira s kolikom je pred-pripremom Kranz ušao u projekt.
