"Bis, bis", zahtijevat će publika nakon sjajne interpretacije Chadwicka Bosemana u Netflixovu filmu "Ma Rainey: Majka bluesa", tražiti da ponovno izvede ulogu. Nažalost, to nije moguće: Boseman je preminuo koncem kolovoza u 43. godini na vrhuncu popularnosti (Marvelovi blockbusteri s naglaskom na "Black Panthera") od posljedice raka i pred smrt odigrao posljednju ulogu – ulogu života.

Glumio je doslovce do posljednjeg daha i snimao "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" debelo načet bolešću. Zasigurno iz respekta spram Bosemanu, a moguće i strahopoštovanja prema moćnom streaming servisu, "Ma Rainey: Majka bluesa" redatelja Georgea C. Wolfea već visoko kotira na filmskim "best of" listama 2020. godine i spominje se kao još jedan izvjestan Netflixov kandidat za Oscara 2021. nakon "Manka" Davida Finchera i "Hillbilly Elegy" Rona Howarda.

Pita li se vašeg recenzenta, Boseman je vrijedan psothumnog zlatnog kipića kakav je pripao Heathu Ledgeru za ulogu Jokera u "Vitezu tame", a sva tri filma nisu loša, ali jesu podjednako precijenjena, kalkulirani "Oscar bait" materijal, jedan prozirniji od drugoga.

Ekranizacija kazališnog komada Augusta Wilsona iz 1984., "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" je u oskarovskim nastojanjima napadan poput "Hillbilly Elegy", možda i napadniji. U prvom planu se nalazi titularna južnjačka pjevačica Gertrude "Ma" Rainey (1899. – 1933.) koju oskarovka ("Ograde") Viola Davis ("Sumnja", "Tajni život kućnih pomoćnica") glumi prenapadno čak i za njezine standarde ("Udovice").

Znana kao "Mother of the Blues", Ma Rainey je bila jedna od najranijih profesionalnih afroameričkih blues pjevačica, a među prvima je i dobila priliku snimati u studiju. "Ma Rainey: Majka bluesa" se otvara prizorom Afroamerikanaca u trku na njezin koncert.

Crnci su je obožavali, bijelci voljeli samo njezin glas jer su na njemu mogli zaraditi. "Nije ih nimalo briga za mene, sve što žele je moj glas", svjesna je Ma Rainey, koristeći svoj status za pionirske primjere zvjezdane taštine i kaprica, ovdje kontra vladajućih bijelaca na pozicijama producenata itd.

Tako, Ma Rainey nije htjela započeti studijski "session" prije nego što dobije traženu Coca-Colu i njezin mucavi nećak Sylvester (Dusan Brown) izgovori uvod u pjesmu tečno, bez zamuckivanja, makar uspio iz tko-zna-kojeg-pokušaja. Ovo drugo unosi tračak humorne spontanosti u proračunatost Davisičine uloge pod ravnanjem Wolfea.

Redatelj film snima strogo teatarski, nerijetko i teatralno, znatno više od Denzela Washingtona koji je prije četiri godine s Davis ekranizirao Wilsonov komad "Fences", a na "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" je potpisan kao producent. Srećom, Bosemanova uloga odudara od filma i čini se da mu je redatelj dao odriješene ruke u kreaciji i interpretaciji lika Leveeja, trubača-šarmera iz benda Ma Rainey.

Ambiciozni Levee bi volio osvojiti Dussie Mae (Taylour Paige), prateću vokalisticu Ma Rainey, osnovati vlastiti bend i snimiti pjesme koje je napisao. To je samo na površini, a ispod nje njegova tuga i trauma iz djetinjstva ga proganjaju poput duhova prošlosti i vriju kao vulkan, samo čekajući da eksplodiraju, što će se i dogoditi kad zatišje pred buru mine i bura zafijuče.

Tu negdje dolazi do pretapanja lika i glumca koji ga igra u filmu. Nesretni Boseman, tako mišićav kao Black Panther u istoimenu blockbusteru, frapantno je mršav i izgleda poput duha dok se dere na Boga i izgovara dramske monologe o smrti. Ako Levee svira kako osjeća, Boseman upravo tako igra Leeveja u filmu koji je ispao njegov labuđi pjev, blues za dragog glumca. Boseman pristupa glumi kao glazbenom "sessionu" i "svira" prema osjećaju u datom trenutku.

Je li Boseman znao da umire, odnosno osjećao da će uloga Leeveja biti njegova posljednja? Vjerojatno jest i taj osjećaj je bolan i za glumca i za gledatelja, proganjajući i njega i nas, posebice u scenama u kojima glumi katarzički dok njegov lik, posredno i on sam, propituje smrt(nost). Emocije su opipljive i prelijevaju se s ove strane ekrana pretvarajući ulogu u nešto više od (ekstra)ordinarne glume – transcendenciju.

Moguće dvije posthumne nominacije

Boseman zaslužuje (i mogao bi dobiti) Oscar nominaciju i za sporednu ulogu u filmu "Da 5 Bloods" Spikea Leeja koji je također producirao Netflix. U tom slučaju će sam sebi biti konkurencija, a i ući posthumno u povijest. Naime, bilo je slučajeva da su glumci iste godine nominirani za dva Oscara, ali nikad u istoj kategoriji sporedne (muške ili ženske) uloge.

"Bis, bis", zahtijevat će publika nakon sjajne interpretacije Chadwicka Bosemana u Netflixovu filmu "Ma Rainey: Majka bluesa", tražiti da ponovno izvede ulogu. Nažalost, to nije moguće: Boseman je preminuo koncem kolovoza u 43. godini na vrhuncu popularnosti (Marvelovi blockbusteri s naglaskom na "Black Panthera") od posljedice raka i pred smrt odigrao posljednju ulogu – ulogu života.

Glumio je doslovce do posljednjeg daha i snimao "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" debelo načet bolešću. Zasigurno iz respekta spram Bosemanu, a moguće i strahopoštovanja prema moćnom streaming servisu, "Ma Rainey: Majka bluesa" redatelja Georgea C. Wolfea već visoko kotira na filmskim "best of" listama 2020. godine i spominje se kao još jedan izvjestan Netflixov kandidat za Oscara 2021. nakon "Manka" Davida Finchera i "Hillbilly Elegy" Rona Howarda.

Pita li se vašeg recenzenta, Boseman je vrijedan psothumnog zlatnog kipića kakav je pripao Heathu Ledgeru za ulogu Jokera u "Vitezu tame", a sva tri filma nisu loša, ali jesu podjednako precijenjena, kalkulirani "Oscar bait" materijal, jedan prozirniji od drugoga.

Ekranizacija kazališnog komada Augusta Wilsona iz 1984., "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" je u oskarovskim nastojanjima napadan poput "Hillbilly Elegy", možda i napadniji. U prvom planu se nalazi titularna južnjačka pjevačica Gertrude "Ma" Rainey (1899. – 1933.) koju oskarovka ("Ograde") Viola Davis ("Sumnja", "Tajni život kućnih pomoćnica") glumi prenapadno čak i za njezine standarde ("Udovice").

Znana kao "Mother of the Blues", Ma Rainey je bila jedna od najranijih profesionalnih afroameričkih blues pjevačica, a među prvima je i dobila priliku snimati u studiju. "Ma Rainey: Majka bluesa" se otvara prizorom Afroamerikanaca u trku na njezin koncert.

Crnci su je obožavali, bijelci voljeli samo njezin glas jer su na njemu mogli zaraditi. "Nije ih nimalo briga za mene, sve što žele je moj glas", svjesna je Ma Rainey, koristeći svoj status za pionirske primjere zvjezdane taštine i kaprica, ovdje kontra vladajućih bijelaca na pozicijama producenata itd.

Tako, Ma Rainey nije htjela započeti studijski "session" prije nego što dobije traženu Coca-Colu i njezin mucavi nećak Sylvester (Dusan Brown) izgovori uvod u pjesmu tečno, bez zamuckivanja, makar uspio iz tko-zna-kojeg-pokušaja. Ovo drugo unosi tračak humorne spontanosti u proračunatost Davisičine uloge pod ravnanjem Wolfea.

Redatelj film snima strogo teatarski, nerijetko i teatralno, znatno više od Denzela Washingtona koji je prije četiri godine s Davis ekranizirao Wilsonov komad "Fences", a na "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom" je potpisan kao producent. Srećom, Bosemanova uloga odudara od filma i čini se da mu je redatelj dao odriješene ruke u kreaciji i interpretaciji lika Leveeja, trubača-šarmera iz benda Ma Rainey.

Ambiciozni Levee bi volio osvojiti Dussie Mae (Taylour Paige), prateću vokalisticu Ma Rainey, osnovati vlastiti bend i snimiti pjesme koje je napisao. To je samo na površini, a ispod nje njegova tuga i trauma iz djetinjstva ga proganjaju poput duhova prošlosti i vriju kao vulkan, samo čekajući da eksplodiraju, što će se i dogoditi kad zatišje pred buru mine i bura zafijuče.

Tu negdje dolazi do pretapanja lika i glumca koji ga igra u filmu. Nesretni Boseman, tako mišićav kao Black Panther u istoimenu blockbusteru, frapantno je mršav i izgleda poput duha dok se dere na Boga i izgovara dramske monologe o smrti. Ako Levee svira kako osjeća, Boseman upravo tako igra Leeveja u filmu koji je ispao njegov labuđi pjev, blues za dragog glumca. Boseman pristupa glumi kao glazbenom "sessionu" i "svira" prema osjećaju u datom trenutku.

Je li Boseman znao da umire, odnosno osjećao da će uloga Leeveja biti njegova posljednja? Vjerojatno jest i taj osjećaj je bolan i za glumca i za gledatelja, proganjajući i njega i nas, posebice u scenama u kojima glumi katarzički dok njegov lik, posredno i on sam, propituje smrt(nost). Emocije su opipljive i prelijevaju se s ove strane ekrana pretvarajući ulogu u nešto više od (ekstra)ordinarne glume – transcendenciju.

Moguće dvije posthumne nominacije

Boseman zaslužuje (i mogao bi dobiti) Oscar nominaciju i za sporednu ulogu u filmu "Da 5 Bloods" Spikea Leeja koji je također producirao Netflix. U tom slučaju će sam sebi biti konkurencija, a i ući posthumno u povijest. Naime, bilo je slučajeva da su glumci iste godine nominirani za dva Oscara, ali nikad u istoj kategoriji sporedne (muške ili ženske) uloge.
