"Uh, ovo je smeće, ne znam zašto obrađuju klasike. Nisu nikad dobri kao originali", kaže jedan lik u komediji "Home Sweet Home Alone" gledajući neku modernu SF-ovsku verziju fiktivnog gangsterskog klasika "Angels With Filthy Souls", filma unutar filma u "Sam u kući" i "Sam u kući 2".

To je prva od nekoliko "meta" šala u šestom dijelu serijala "Home Alone", četvrtim bez nezamjenjivog Macualayja Culkina, koji nastoji funkcionirati kao nastavak (manje) i remake (više), kako to danas obično biva s novim filmovima starih franšiza.

Nakon što mali Max Mercer (Archie Yates) pobjegne od velike familije u garažu, on sjeda u automobil i gleda crtiće o Kojotu i Ptici trkačici koji su bili polazna gegovska točka za "Sam u kući 1&2", a u autu će i zaspati i biti ostavljen/zaboravljen prilikom obiteljskog odlaska u Tokio za blagdane.

A kad provalnici, bračni par Pam i Jeff (veoma simpatična Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney), aktiviraju protuprovalni alarm i policija izađe na teren, jedan od policajaca se obrati Maxu "želiš reći da su te roditelji ostavili samog u kući?", naglasivši zadnje tri riječi. Policajac je, interesantno, nitko drugi doli Buzz McCallister, Kevinov stariji brat kojeg ponovno glumi Devin Ratray.

K tome, protuprovalni alarm nosi poznato prezime. "McCallister Home Alarm System", izgovori naglas Buzz. "Slučajnost", pita se Buzz i u stilu Kevina odvrati "Neće ići" ("I don't think so"). Autoreferencijalnost je usamljeni plusić nepotrebnog filma koji, međutim, ne odlazi do kraja na metafilmski način pa da Max, recimo, gleda "Home Alone 1&2" na TV-u i na njihovom primjeru uči kako se suprotstaviti provalnicima, što bi bilo baš štosno.

"Home Sweet Home Alone" većinu toga radi pogrešno da bi bio dostojan prvih dvaju filmova i nije ni blizu zabavan, šarmantan, sentimentalan i, uopće, kreativan u ostvarivanju tjelesne komedije i blagdanske magije. Lik Maxa bi mogao proći kao sporednjak, jedan od Kevinove braće ili rođaka, on nije simpatičan kad uživa u samoći oponašajući scenu iz "Scarfacea" s M&M's bombonima, koliko god njegov tumač Yates bio upravo takav u filmu "Jojo Rabbit", a njegove isporuke rečenica su robotske.

Putovanje Maxove mame (Aisling Bea) kući ne uspijeva izazvati emociju da gledatelj podjednako navija za nju kao i za malog junaka, zasigurno i zato što je ne glumi Catherine O'Hara, niti dijeli divne scene s Johnom Candyjem. Konačno, za Maxa nije lako navijati budući da njegovi protivnici nisu "negativci" poput Marva i Harryja.

Jeff i Pam su roditelji u financijskoj krizi koji postaju provalnici krivo misleći da je on ukrao njihovu lutku kad je s mamom, silom prilika, uletio u njihovu kuću na rasprodaji. Naime, Jeff doznaje da je lutka, vlasništvo njegove pokojne majke, kolekcionarski vrijedna 200.000 dolara, a s tim novcima bi mogli zadržati kuću.

Nesporazum je i na Maxovoj strani jer on misli da su ga njih dvoje došli oteti ili nešto u tom stilu. Teško se smijati nevoljama dobrih ljudi kojima Max priređuje tretman na tragu Kevinovog u njegovoj zaštiti obiteljskog doma od provalnika, posebice što su dopadljiviji od njega ili je to barem Pam zahvaljujući Kemper.

Marv i Harry su zaslužili da padaju niz stepenice itd., ali ne i Pam i Jeff koje će Max gađati biljarskim kuglama iz plastične puške, utezima i loptom za jogu, "bombardirati" bocama gaziranog pića i "pretvarati u kolač" sa zamkama od vrućeg mlijeka, klizavog masla i teškom vrećicom za šećer, a jedno od dvoje nesretnika će ugaziti i na lego ("najbolnija stvar na svijetu").

Zamke nisu toliko elaborirane/maštovite u fizičkom humoru kao u prva dva filma i ubrzo postaju repetitivne, nakog čega "Home Sweet Home Alone" kao da napokon shvaća kako Jeff i Pam nisu zlikovci i brže-bolje želi postići dirljivi božićni sentiment na konto obiteljskih vrijednosti, što ne djeluje prirodno izvojevano. "Home Sweet Home Alone" jedva da je za jednokratno, kamoli trajno gledanje. Šansa da film postane božićni klasik koji će se gledati za 30 i više godina je minimalna. "Neće ići", predviđa Kevin.

Ovo je znači četvrti "Home Alone" u kojem ne glumi Culkin. "Sam u kući 3" snimljen je 1997. a otad naovamo izašli su i "Home Alone 4: Taking Back The House" (2002.) i "Home Alone: The Holiday Heist" (2012.).

"Uh, ovo je smeće, ne znam zašto obrađuju klasike. Nisu nikad dobri kao originali", kaže jedan lik u komediji "Home Sweet Home Alone" gledajući neku modernu SF-ovsku verziju fiktivnog gangsterskog klasika "Angels With Filthy Souls", filma unutar filma u "Sam u kući" i "Sam u kući 2".

To je prva od nekoliko "meta" šala u šestom dijelu serijala "Home Alone", četvrtim bez nezamjenjivog Macualayja Culkina, koji nastoji funkcionirati kao nastavak (manje) i remake (više), kako to danas obično biva s novim filmovima starih franšiza.

Nakon što mali Max Mercer (Archie Yates) pobjegne od velike familije u garažu, on sjeda u automobil i gleda crtiće o Kojotu i Ptici trkačici koji su bili polazna gegovska točka za "Sam u kući 1&2", a u autu će i zaspati i biti ostavljen/zaboravljen prilikom obiteljskog odlaska u Tokio za blagdane.

A kad provalnici, bračni par Pam i Jeff (veoma simpatična Ellie Kemper, Rob Delaney), aktiviraju protuprovalni alarm i policija izađe na teren, jedan od policajaca se obrati Maxu "želiš reći da su te roditelji ostavili samog u kući?", naglasivši zadnje tri riječi. Policajac je, interesantno, nitko drugi doli Buzz McCallister, Kevinov stariji brat kojeg ponovno glumi Devin Ratray.

K tome, protuprovalni alarm nosi poznato prezime. "McCallister Home Alarm System", izgovori naglas Buzz. "Slučajnost", pita se Buzz i u stilu Kevina odvrati "Neće ići" ("I don't think so"). Autoreferencijalnost je usamljeni plusić nepotrebnog filma koji, međutim, ne odlazi do kraja na metafilmski način pa da Max, recimo, gleda "Home Alone 1&2" na TV-u i na njihovom primjeru uči kako se suprotstaviti provalnicima, što bi bilo baš štosno.

"Home Sweet Home Alone" većinu toga radi pogrešno da bi bio dostojan prvih dvaju filmova i nije ni blizu zabavan, šarmantan, sentimentalan i, uopće, kreativan u ostvarivanju tjelesne komedije i blagdanske magije. Lik Maxa bi mogao proći kao sporednjak, jedan od Kevinove braće ili rođaka, on nije simpatičan kad uživa u samoći oponašajući scenu iz "Scarfacea" s M&M's bombonima, koliko god njegov tumač Yates bio upravo takav u filmu "Jojo Rabbit", a njegove isporuke rečenica su robotske.

Putovanje Maxove mame (Aisling Bea) kući ne uspijeva izazvati emociju da gledatelj podjednako navija za nju kao i za malog junaka, zasigurno i zato što je ne glumi Catherine O'Hara, niti dijeli divne scene s Johnom Candyjem. Konačno, za Maxa nije lako navijati budući da njegovi protivnici nisu "negativci" poput Marva i Harryja.

Jeff i Pam su roditelji u financijskoj krizi koji postaju provalnici krivo misleći da je on ukrao njihovu lutku kad je s mamom, silom prilika, uletio u njihovu kuću na rasprodaji. Naime, Jeff doznaje da je lutka, vlasništvo njegove pokojne majke, kolekcionarski vrijedna 200.000 dolara, a s tim novcima bi mogli zadržati kuću.

Nesporazum je i na Maxovoj strani jer on misli da su ga njih dvoje došli oteti ili nešto u tom stilu. Teško se smijati nevoljama dobrih ljudi kojima Max priređuje tretman na tragu Kevinovog u njegovoj zaštiti obiteljskog doma od provalnika, posebice što su dopadljiviji od njega ili je to barem Pam zahvaljujući Kemper.

Marv i Harry su zaslužili da padaju niz stepenice itd., ali ne i Pam i Jeff koje će Max gađati biljarskim kuglama iz plastične puške, utezima i loptom za jogu, "bombardirati" bocama gaziranog pića i "pretvarati u kolač" sa zamkama od vrućeg mlijeka, klizavog masla i teškom vrećicom za šećer, a jedno od dvoje nesretnika će ugaziti i na lego ("najbolnija stvar na svijetu").

Zamke nisu toliko elaborirane/maštovite u fizičkom humoru kao u prva dva filma i ubrzo postaju repetitivne, nakog čega "Home Sweet Home Alone" kao da napokon shvaća kako Jeff i Pam nisu zlikovci i brže-bolje želi postići dirljivi božićni sentiment na konto obiteljskih vrijednosti, što ne djeluje prirodno izvojevano. "Home Sweet Home Alone" jedva da je za jednokratno, kamoli trajno gledanje. Šansa da film postane božićni klasik koji će se gledati za 30 i više godina je minimalna. "Neće ići", predviđa Kevin.

Četiri nastavka od 1997. do 2021.

Ovo je znači četvrti "Home Alone" u kojem ne glumi Culkin. "Sam u kući 3" snimljen je 1997. a otad naovamo izašli su i "Home Alone 4: Taking Back The House" (2002.) i "Home Alone: The Holiday Heist" (2012.).
