Zlosretna korona lišila nas je gledanja ratnog akcijskog trilera "Greyhound" u kinima. Streaming servis Apple TV+ je, neoprostivo, brže-bolje kupio film od studija Sony kao fol da ga "spasi" od korone i sada ga gledamo na internetu umjesto u kinu. Tom Hanks je izrazio javno nezadovoljstvo zbog toga kao megazvijezda velikog ekrana.
Ovo je, k tome, bio njegov "projekt iz strasti" – osim što igra glavnu ulogu kapetana ratnog broda Ernesta Krausea, Hanks je napisao i scenarij filma, njegov prvi u karijeri. Nezadovoljstvo bi trebali izraziti i pravi filmofili koji bi se, poput Hanksa, zasigurno radije naoružali strpljenjem da pogledaju film kako spada.

Jer, "Greyhound" pita kino, veliki ekran i adekvatan zvučni sistem. Ni najbolje kućno kino s 80-inčnim TV ekranima i pripadajućim "surroundom" ne može ostvariti gledateljsku imerziju kao ono pravo. A "Greyhound" baš tipuje na imerzivni doživljaj i vjerojatno bi dobio barem pola zvjezdice više da je viđen u kinu.
Film Aarona Schneidera je nekih 90 posto vremena postavljen na titularni bojni brod (fiktivnog) kapetana Krausea tijekom stvarne bitke za Atlantik 1942., jednom od težišta Drugog svjetskog rata, gdje se odvija napeta igra mačke i miša s njemačkim podmornicama.
To je i igra šaha s torpedima, minama i raketama koju promatramo iznad, ne ispod površine, za razliku od podmorničkih klasika "Das Boot" Wolfganga Petersena i "The Hunt For Red October" Johna McTiernana, od kojih "Greyhound" prenosi dramsku akcijsko-trilersku dinamiku.
Zapravo je "Greyhound" klaustrofobični podmornički film na ratnom brodu u kojem, dakle, opasnost vreba ispod mora. Njemačke podmornice se gotovo ne vide od visokih valova i vjetrovitog sivog mora čak i kad im izviri periskop koji Schneider snima poput peraje morskog psa.
Podmornice se možda među sobom nazivaju vučjim čoporom, ali za Schneidera one kao da su velike bijele psine. Jedna podmornica u možda najdojmljivijem kadru filma prilazi brodovima poput morskog psa punoj plaži kupača u "Raljama" ili "Megu", pripravna za pokolj. I torpeda, nazvana ribama, Schenider tretira kao morske pse gladne metalnog mesa.
Schneider tipuje na tračak metafizike, evidentan i u sceni kad Krauseov brod sredi jednu podmornicu i od nje ostane samo velika fleka na moru, "krv" podvodnog metalnog čudovišta. Sve to uzdiže "Greyhound" iznad ljetnog blockbustera, premda je film rađen kao takav.
"Greyhound" je, prema svemu sudeći, najbliže što ćemo doći ljetnom blockbusteru ove sezone, svakako bliže od Netflixova kvazi-blockbustera "The Old Guard" s Charlize Theron. Blockbusterske produkcijske vrijednosti su na razini, iako tu i tamo računalni efekti i zeleni ekrani znadu upasti u oko (voda, valovi), kao da se nisu do kraja ispeglali nakon što je film kupljen za streaming, jer se to u kućnom kinu manje primijeti.
Pa opet, intenzivni, 90-minutni ritam "Greyhounda" je takav, bez predaha, da se dojmovi više zbrajaju (i oduzimaju) jednom kad završi nego dok traje. Režija, scenarij i gluma su precizni i krajnje svedeni u ekonomiji filma, minimalističkoj za jedan načelno maksimalistički blockbuster.
Prednost ima ratna situacija, pa tek onda karakterizacija mornara koji su se u toj situaciji našli. Kapetan Krause je, doznajemo, religiozan (predstavljen kako se moli), zaprosio je draganu prije odlaska u rat (kratki flešbek s Elizabeth Shue), i to je uglavnom to.
Međutim, dvostruki oskarovac Hanks je predobar glumac i spašava šturi lik kapetana suptilno ocrtavajući na licu tragove Krauseove "dodatne" karakterizacije, tj. portretirajući ga poput ljudskog bića s ljudskim reakcijama, kao na odavanje počasti njegovu herojstvu s mimoilazećeg broda.
Ako brodovi u "Greyhoundu" nerijetko izgledaju kao važniji likovi od ljudi, svedenih na – (s vremenom) pomalo repetitivno – izdavanje i primanje naredbi iz domene nautičke terminologije, to ne znači da je film cijepljen ljudskosti i intimnih ljudskih trenutaka s prigušenim emocijama. U sceni morskog pogreba jedno beživotno tijelo odolijeva iz prve kliznuti u more. O tom mornaru ne znamo ništa, ali o humanosti "Greyhounda" doznajemo nešto.

Tom Hanks je bio kapetan broda u izvrsnom filmu "Captain Phillips", a "Greyhound" se dobro uklapa u njegovu filmografiju s ostvarenjima koja se tiču (američke) povijesti, od "Apolla 13" do "Saving Private Ryan", "Bridge of Spies" i "Sullyja".

Zlosretna korona lišila nas je gledanja ratnog akcijskog trilera "Greyhound" u kinima. Streaming servis Apple TV+ je, neoprostivo, brže-bolje kupio film od studija Sony kao fol da ga "spasi" od korone i sada ga gledamo na internetu umjesto u kinu. Tom Hanks je izrazio javno nezadovoljstvo zbog toga kao megazvijezda velikog ekrana.
Ovo je, k tome, bio njegov "projekt iz strasti" – osim što igra glavnu ulogu kapetana ratnog broda Ernesta Krausea, Hanks je napisao i scenarij filma, njegov prvi u karijeri. Nezadovoljstvo bi trebali izraziti i pravi filmofili koji bi se, poput Hanksa, zasigurno radije naoružali strpljenjem da pogledaju film kako spada.

Jer, "Greyhound" pita kino, veliki ekran i adekvatan zvučni sistem. Ni najbolje kućno kino s 80-inčnim TV ekranima i pripadajućim "surroundom" ne može ostvariti gledateljsku imerziju kao ono pravo. A "Greyhound" baš tipuje na imerzivni doživljaj i vjerojatno bi dobio barem pola zvjezdice više da je viđen u kinu.
Film Aarona Schneidera je nekih 90 posto vremena postavljen na titularni bojni brod (fiktivnog) kapetana Krausea tijekom stvarne bitke za Atlantik 1942., jednom od težišta Drugog svjetskog rata, gdje se odvija napeta igra mačke i miša s njemačkim podmornicama.
To je i igra šaha s torpedima, minama i raketama koju promatramo iznad, ne ispod površine, za razliku od podmorničkih klasika "Das Boot" Wolfganga Petersena i "The Hunt For Red October" Johna McTiernana, od kojih "Greyhound" prenosi dramsku akcijsko-trilersku dinamiku.
Zapravo je "Greyhound" klaustrofobični podmornički film na ratnom brodu u kojem, dakle, opasnost vreba ispod mora. Njemačke podmornice se gotovo ne vide od visokih valova i vjetrovitog sivog mora čak i kad im izviri periskop koji Schneider snima poput peraje morskog psa.
Podmornice se možda među sobom nazivaju vučjim čoporom, ali za Schneidera one kao da su velike bijele psine. Jedna podmornica u možda najdojmljivijem kadru filma prilazi brodovima poput morskog psa punoj plaži kupača u "Raljama" ili "Megu", pripravna za pokolj. I torpeda, nazvana ribama, Schenider tretira kao morske pse gladne metalnog mesa.
Schneider tipuje na tračak metafizike, evidentan i u sceni kad Krauseov brod sredi jednu podmornicu i od nje ostane samo velika fleka na moru, "krv" podvodnog metalnog čudovišta. Sve to uzdiže "Greyhound" iznad ljetnog blockbustera, premda je film rađen kao takav.
"Greyhound" je, prema svemu sudeći, najbliže što ćemo doći ljetnom blockbusteru ove sezone, svakako bliže od Netflixova kvazi-blockbustera "The Old Guard" s Charlize Theron. Blockbusterske produkcijske vrijednosti su na razini, iako tu i tamo računalni efekti i zeleni ekrani znadu upasti u oko (voda, valovi), kao da se nisu do kraja ispeglali nakon što je film kupljen za streaming, jer se to u kućnom kinu manje primijeti.
Pa opet, intenzivni, 90-minutni ritam "Greyhounda" je takav, bez predaha, da se dojmovi više zbrajaju (i oduzimaju) jednom kad završi nego dok traje. Režija, scenarij i gluma su precizni i krajnje svedeni u ekonomiji filma, minimalističkoj za jedan načelno maksimalistički blockbuster.
Prednost ima ratna situacija, pa tek onda karakterizacija mornara koji su se u toj situaciji našli. Kapetan Krause je, doznajemo, religiozan (predstavljen kako se moli), zaprosio je draganu prije odlaska u rat (kratki flešbek s Elizabeth Shue), i to je uglavnom to.
Međutim, dvostruki oskarovac Hanks je predobar glumac i spašava šturi lik kapetana suptilno ocrtavajući na licu tragove Krauseove "dodatne" karakterizacije, tj. portretirajući ga poput ljudskog bića s ljudskim reakcijama, kao na odavanje počasti njegovu herojstvu s mimoilazećeg broda.
Ako brodovi u "Greyhoundu" nerijetko izgledaju kao važniji likovi od ljudi, svedenih na – (s vremenom) pomalo repetitivno – izdavanje i primanje naredbi iz domene nautičke terminologije, to ne znači da je film cijepljen ljudskosti i intimnih ljudskih trenutaka s prigušenim emocijama. U sceni morskog pogreba jedno beživotno tijelo odolijeva iz prve kliznuti u more. O tom mornaru ne znamo ništa, ali o humanosti "Greyhounda" doznajemo nešto.

Tom Hanks je bio kapetan broda u izvrsnom filmu "Captain Phillips", a "Greyhound" se dobro uklapa u njegovu filmografiju s ostvarenjima koja se tiču (američke) povijesti, od "Apolla 13" do "Saving Private Ryan", "Bridge of Spies" i "Sullyja".
