Dalmatinska janjetina dobila je europsku zaštićenu oznaku izvornosti, objavila je Europska komisija u današnjem izdanju Službenog lista Europske unije.
Time je ovaj naziv proizvoda upisan u registar zaštićenih oznaka izvornosti i zaštićenih oznaka zemljopisnog podrijetla te zaštićen na području cijele Unije, što potrošaču jamči kupnju autentičnog proizvoda.
Postupak zaštite naziva "Dalmatinska janjetina" pokrenula je Udruga uzgajivača ovaca i koza Dalmacije koja je Ministarstvu poljoprivrede podnijela zahtjev za zaštitu oznake izvornosti. Propisano je da će takav naziv moći nositi meso janjadi hrvatske izvorne pasmine ovce, dalmatinske pramenke, koja su ojanjena, uzgojena i zaklana isključivo na području Dalmacije.
Klanje janjadi obavlja se u dobi od 70 do 130 dana, kad dostižu tjelesnu masu od 15 do 28 kilograma. Dalmatinska janjetina nosi ime po uzgojnom području dalmatinske pramenke, ali i sam naziv Dalmacija potječe od ilirske riječi za ovcu, dalma ili delma.
Mišićno tkivo je blijedoružičaste do ružičaste boje, a meso dugog leđnog mišića sadržava manje od četiri posto masti i veći broj različitih hlapivih spojeva arome, osobito terpena te specifičan sastav masnih kiselina, što sve zajedno rezultira specifičnim senzorskim svojstvima mesa.
Posebno cijenjenu janjetinu koja se proizvodi na otocima, u priobalju i na krškim područjima Dalmatinske zagore odlikuju nježna struktura mišića bez izražene mramoriranosti, bijelih potkožnih i unutarnjih masnih naslaga. U usporedbi s drugim vrstama janjetine meso dalmatinske sadrži znatno manje masti, a potrošači je prepoznaju i posebno cijene ponajprije zbog mekanog i sočnog mišićnog tkiva te arome i okusa bez izraženog mirisa po ovčjem mesu.
Republika Hrvatska sada ima 40 poljoprivrednih i prehrambenih proizvoda čiji je naziv registriran u EU-u kao zaštićena oznaka izvornosti ili zaštićena oznaka zemljopisnog podrijetla. S područja Dalmacije tu su Neretvanska mandarina, Drniški i Dalmatinski pršut, Poljički soparnik/zeljanik/uljenjak, Korčulansko, Šoltansko i Bračko maslinovo ulje, Paška janjetina, sir i sol, Brački varenik, Dalmatinska pečenica i panceta, Lički škripavac, te Lumblija.

Dalmatinska janjetina dobila je europsku zaštićenu oznaku izvornosti, objavila je Europska komisija u današnjem izdanju Službenog lista Europske unije.
Time je ovaj naziv proizvoda upisan u registar zaštićenih oznaka izvornosti i zaštićenih oznaka zemljopisnog podrijetla te zaštićen na području cijele Unije, što potrošaču jamči kupnju autentičnog proizvoda.
Postupak zaštite naziva "Dalmatinska janjetina" pokrenula je Udruga uzgajivača ovaca i koza Dalmacije koja je Ministarstvu poljoprivrede podnijela zahtjev za zaštitu oznake izvornosti. Propisano je da će takav naziv moći nositi meso janjadi hrvatske izvorne pasmine ovce, dalmatinske pramenke, koja su ojanjena, uzgojena i zaklana isključivo na području Dalmacije.
Klanje janjadi obavlja se u dobi od 70 do 130 dana, kad dostižu tjelesnu masu od 15 do 28 kilograma. Dalmatinska janjetina nosi ime po uzgojnom području dalmatinske pramenke, ali i sam naziv Dalmacija potječe od ilirske riječi za ovcu, dalma ili delma.
Mišićno tkivo je blijedoružičaste do ružičaste boje, a meso dugog leđnog mišića sadržava manje od četiri posto masti i veći broj različitih hlapivih spojeva arome, osobito terpena te specifičan sastav masnih kiselina, što sve zajedno rezultira specifičnim senzorskim svojstvima mesa.
Posebno cijenjenu janjetinu koja se proizvodi na otocima, u priobalju i na krškim područjima Dalmatinske zagore odlikuju nježna struktura mišića bez izražene mramoriranosti, bijelih potkožnih i unutarnjih masnih naslaga. U usporedbi s drugim vrstama janjetine meso dalmatinske sadrži znatno manje masti, a potrošači je prepoznaju i posebno cijene ponajprije zbog mekanog i sočnog mišićnog tkiva te arome i okusa bez izraženog mirisa po ovčjem mesu.
Republika Hrvatska sada ima 40 poljoprivrednih i prehrambenih proizvoda čiji je naziv registriran u EU-u kao zaštićena oznaka izvornosti ili zaštićena oznaka zemljopisnog podrijetla. S područja Dalmacije tu su Neretvanska mandarina, Drniški i Dalmatinski pršut, Poljički soparnik/zeljanik/uljenjak, Korčulansko, Šoltansko i Bračko maslinovo ulje, Paška janjetina, sir i sol, Brački varenik, Dalmatinska pečenica i panceta, Lički škripavac, te Lumblija.
