Ako je "Your Honor" (pot)pao u gledateljski zaborav od prosinca do veljače, što li tek reći za prošloljetnu seriju "Defending Jacob", iz Apple TV+ produkcije, koja je mnogima dok je trajala prolazila ispod radara.

Ipak, podcijenjene serije s popularnim Chrisom Evansom u glavnoj ulozi vrijedi se podsjetiti u vrijeme "aktualnosti" Cranstonove, s kojim pokriva razmjerno sličnu, samo još kompleksniju temu, pa i preporučiti je kao više nego solidnu televiziju, svakako superiorniju nizu prerazvikanih TV proizvoda poput "The Undoing".

Nakon superjunačenja u kostimu Kapetana Amerike u šaci Marvelovih blockbustera, Evans jača mišiće kao dramski glumac još jednom nakon filma "Nadarena", ovoga puta u ulozi zamjenika općinskog državnog odvjetnika Andyja Barbera.

"Vjerujem u sistem i želim da istina izađe na vidjelo", govori Andy u jednoj od prvih scena na sudu dok ga ispituje kolega (Pablo Schreiber). Kako li je završio tu, s druge strane sudnice?

Tako što je njegov 14-godišnji sin Jacob (Jaeden Martell iz filmova "Sveti Vincent", "Ponoćni specijal i "Ono 1&2"; s Evansom nedavno glumio u "Nožu u leđa") osumnjičen za ubojstvo mladića iz razreda.

Jacobovi otisci prstiju pronađeni su na majici izbodenog nesretnika, a njegovi vršnjaci na društvenim mrežama spominju da posjeduje nož i da je on ubojica. Ubrzo svi postaju uvjereni da je Jacob kriv, čak i njegova majka (Michelle Dockery) dvoji u njegovu nevinost.

Andy je usamljen u vjerovanju da njegov sin nije ubojica i sociopat. "Moj sin nije takav, poznajem svoje dijete", tvrdi on spremajući se pošto-poto dokazati Jacobovu nevinost u seriji koju je, po romanu Williama Landayja, uzgred bestseleru "New York Timesa", kreirao Mark Bomback ("Umri muški 4", trilogija "Planet majmuna"), a režirao za Oscara nominirani Morten Tydlum ("Igra oponašanja").

"Defending Jacob" miješa sudski triler, "whodunnit" misteriju i obiteljsku dramu u osam dijelova po 45 minuta, nerijetko odgađajući otkrića od jednog završetka epizode do drugog. Kraći format od četiri, maksimalno pet epizoda bio bi uputniji jer na taj način bi se tenzija bolje odr(a)žavala i serija bila intenzivnije iskustvo.

Ipak, lagali bismo da zapišemo kako "Defending Jacob" ne izaziva znatiželju zbog Tydlumove "ping-pong" režije u odgovaranju na pitanje je li Jacob ubojica ili nije, odnosno mozgalice "ma što ako ipak je?".

Odgovor ostaje otvoren sve do kraja, ako ne i kad serija završi, što je svakako plus i anulira neke minuse, od sad već pomalo generičkog izgleda, tj. izlizano ispranih (sivih) boja u vizualizaciji/fotografiji svakog predstavnika "peak TV-a", do toga da serija prijeti postati misterija čisto misterije radi i gomila razotkrivene tajne likova više da kupi minutažu nego da to djeluje kao prirodan (pod)zaplet.

No, kad misterija zakaže, a znade zakazati, obiteljska drama je uglavnom postojana i "Defending Jacob" je dojmljiviji u prikazu efekta potencijalnog ubojstva na jednu naizgled skladnu nuklearnu familiju, napose roditelje djeteta, nego kao trilerska istraga istog. Pravo pitanje serije jest koliko dobro roditelji (ne) poznaju svoju djecu.

Ako je "Your Honor" (pot)pao u gledateljski zaborav od prosinca do veljače, što li tek reći za prošloljetnu seriju "Defending Jacob", iz Apple TV+ produkcije, koja je mnogima dok je trajala prolazila ispod radara.

Ipak, podcijenjene serije s popularnim Chrisom Evansom u glavnoj ulozi vrijedi se podsjetiti u vrijeme "aktualnosti" Cranstonove, s kojim pokriva razmjerno sličnu, samo još kompleksniju temu, pa i preporučiti je kao više nego solidnu televiziju, svakako superiorniju nizu prerazvikanih TV proizvoda poput "The Undoing".

Nakon superjunačenja u kostimu Kapetana Amerike u šaci Marvelovih blockbustera, Evans jača mišiće kao dramski glumac još jednom nakon filma "Nadarena", ovoga puta u ulozi zamjenika općinskog državnog odvjetnika Andyja Barbera.

"Vjerujem u sistem i želim da istina izađe na vidjelo", govori Andy u jednoj od prvih scena na sudu dok ga ispituje kolega (Pablo Schreiber). Kako li je završio tu, s druge strane sudnice?

Tako što je njegov 14-godišnji sin Jacob (Jaeden Martell iz filmova "Sveti Vincent", "Ponoćni specijal i "Ono 1&2"; s Evansom nedavno glumio u "Nožu u leđa") osumnjičen za ubojstvo mladića iz razreda.

Jacobovi otisci prstiju pronađeni su na majici izbodenog nesretnika, a njegovi vršnjaci na društvenim mrežama spominju da posjeduje nož i da je on ubojica. Ubrzo svi postaju uvjereni da je Jacob kriv, čak i njegova majka (Michelle Dockery) dvoji u njegovu nevinost.

Andy je usamljen u vjerovanju da njegov sin nije ubojica i sociopat. "Moj sin nije takav, poznajem svoje dijete", tvrdi on spremajući se pošto-poto dokazati Jacobovu nevinost u seriji koju je, po romanu Williama Landayja, uzgred bestseleru "New York Timesa", kreirao Mark Bomback ("Umri muški 4", trilogija "Planet majmuna"), a režirao za Oscara nominirani Morten Tydlum ("Igra oponašanja").

"Defending Jacob" miješa sudski triler, "whodunnit" misteriju i obiteljsku dramu u osam dijelova po 45 minuta, nerijetko odgađajući otkrića od jednog završetka epizode do drugog. Kraći format od četiri, maksimalno pet epizoda bio bi uputniji jer na taj način bi se tenzija bolje odr(a)žavala i serija bila intenzivnije iskustvo.

Ipak, lagali bismo da zapišemo kako "Defending Jacob" ne izaziva znatiželju zbog Tydlumove "ping-pong" režije u odgovaranju na pitanje je li Jacob ubojica ili nije, odnosno mozgalice "ma što ako ipak je?".

Odgovor ostaje otvoren sve do kraja, ako ne i kad serija završi, što je svakako plus i anulira neke minuse, od sad već pomalo generičkog izgleda, tj. izlizano ispranih (sivih) boja u vizualizaciji/fotografiji svakog predstavnika "peak TV-a", do toga da serija prijeti postati misterija čisto misterije radi i gomila razotkrivene tajne likova više da kupi minutažu nego da to djeluje kao prirodan (pod)zaplet.

No, kad misterija zakaže, a znade zakazati, obiteljska drama je uglavnom postojana i "Defending Jacob" je dojmljiviji u prikazu efekta potencijalnog ubojstva na jednu naizgled skladnu nuklearnu familiju, napose roditelje djeteta, nego kao trilerska istraga istog. Pravo pitanje serije jest koliko dobro roditelji (ne) poznaju svoju djecu.
