 Doajen hrvatskog filma, filmski redatelj, scenarist i producent, Vatroslav Mimica umro je u subotu u Zagrebu u 97. godini, izvijestila je u nedjelju Hrvatska radio televizija (HRT).
 Velikan hrvatske kimematografije Vatroslav Mimica rođer je 1923. u Omišu. Hrvatska kinematografija pamtit će ga u prvom redu po igranim remek-djelima poput "Prometeja s otoka Viševice", međunarodno priznatog "Kaja, ubit ću te", "Ponedjeljak ili utorak", "Događaj", pa sve do "Seljačke bune" i "Banovića Strahinje". 
 Studirao na Medicinskom fakultetu u Zagrebu, a bio sudionik antifašističkog pokreta u II. Svjetskom ratu. Na filmu je od 1950., najprije kao direktor Jadran filma, čiji je jedan od umeteljitelja. Debitirao je igranim filmom U oluji (1952.), a nakon drugog igranog filma, komedije Jubilej gospodina Ikla (1955.), posvetio se crtanomu filmu.  Jedan je od osnivača Zagrebačke škole crtanog filma. Isprva radi kao scenarist (s Vladimirom  Tadejom) nekih od prvih uspjeha Zagrebačke škole crtanog filma (npr. Premijera i Na livadi N. Kostelca te Cowboy Jimmy D. Vukotića – svi 1957.). Godine 1957. režirao je svoj prvi crtani film Strašilo, koji je dobio  Grand Prix u Veneciji i prvi je veliki međunarodni uspjeh Zagrebačke škole. Ubrzo je i drugim filmovima Happy End (1958.), Inspektor se vratio kući, Kod fotografa (oba 1959.) te Mala kronika (1962.) stekao ugled jednog od prvaka Škole.
Ti su mu filmovi – zaokupljenošću suvremenom tematikom (osamljenost, otuđenje u urbanom svijetu) te modernošću i inovativnošću izraza (nizovi paralelnih kolorističkih planova, kolažno umetanje isječaka fotografija, unošenje realnih predmeta u sliku) - donijeli nagrade na najuglednijim svjetskim festivalima (npr. Venecija, Annecy, Oberhausen, Bergamo, Edinburgh).
Godine 1963. Mimica se vratio igranomu filmu. Katkada ponavljajući motive iz crtanih filmova te prihvaćajući među prvima u Hrvatskoj modernističke stilske i tematske elemente režirao je fimove Prometej s otoka Viševice (1965., Velika zlatna arena u Puli), Ponedjeljak ili utorak (1966., Velika zlatna arena u Puli), Kaja, ubit ću te (1967). Nakon toga pristup mu postaje znatno akademskiji (npr. Događaj, 1969; Seljačka buna, 1975; Banović Strahinja, 1981).
Vatroslav Mimica dobio je niz domaćim i međunarodnih priznanja za svoj umjetnički rad na području kinematografije, među kojima Nagradu »Vladimir Nazor« za životno djelo (1986).
Kako je u In memoriam objavio HRT "Vatroslav Mimica oduvijek je bio i ostao vezan za ljudske sudbine, humanist iznad svega. Mimica je cijeli svoj životni i kreativni opus posvetio obrani humanističkih vrijednosti za koje je osjećao da ih moderni veliki sustavi zaboravljaju i ugrožavaju. Od onda kad je kao mladić otišao u partizane, iz potrebe da se bori protiv nepravdi fašizma, pa preko svih svojih super-avangardnih crtanih filmova, te - što je najvažnije - kroz sve svoje igrane filmove - uvijek je svijet promatrao prvenstveno pogledom uvjerenog humaniste.
 Vatroslav Mimica je imao rijetko istančan osjećaj za nepravde usmjerene prema čovjeku-pojedincu. Čovjek-pojedinac, a ne sustavi, bili su mu uvijek središnji motiv pričanja. Svi njegovi filmovi prožeti su tom središnjom idejom. Uvijek su mu individua i njezine ljudske slobode bile u prvom planu, a takav je bio i u privatnom životu".
Odlazak Vatroslava Mimice nenadoknadiv je gubitak, ne samo za hrvatski nego i za europski film.

 Doajen hrvatskog filma, filmski redatelj, scenarist i producent, Vatroslav Mimica umro je u subotu u Zagrebu u 97. godini, izvijestila je u nedjelju Hrvatska radio televizija (HRT).
 Velikan hrvatske kimematografije Vatroslav Mimica rođer je 1923. u Omišu. Hrvatska kinematografija pamtit će ga u prvom redu po igranim remek-djelima poput "Prometeja s otoka Viševice", međunarodno priznatog "Kaja, ubit ću te", "Ponedjeljak ili utorak", "Događaj", pa sve do "Seljačke bune" i "Banovića Strahinje". 
 Studirao na Medicinskom fakultetu u Zagrebu, a bio sudionik antifašističkog pokreta u II. Svjetskom ratu. Na filmu je od 1950., najprije kao direktor Jadran filma, čiji je jedan od umeteljitelja. Debitirao je igranim filmom U oluji (1952.), a nakon drugog igranog filma, komedije Jubilej gospodina Ikla (1955.), posvetio se crtanomu filmu.  Jedan je od osnivača Zagrebačke škole crtanog filma. Isprva radi kao scenarist (s Vladimirom  Tadejom) nekih od prvih uspjeha Zagrebačke škole crtanog filma (npr. Premijera i Na livadi N. Kostelca te Cowboy Jimmy D. Vukotića – svi 1957.). Godine 1957. režirao je svoj prvi crtani film Strašilo, koji je dobio  Grand Prix u Veneciji i prvi je veliki međunarodni uspjeh Zagrebačke škole. Ubrzo je i drugim filmovima Happy End (1958.), Inspektor se vratio kući, Kod fotografa (oba 1959.) te Mala kronika (1962.) stekao ugled jednog od prvaka Škole.
Ti su mu filmovi – zaokupljenošću suvremenom tematikom (osamljenost, otuđenje u urbanom svijetu) te modernošću i inovativnošću izraza (nizovi paralelnih kolorističkih planova, kolažno umetanje isječaka fotografija, unošenje realnih predmeta u sliku) - donijeli nagrade na najuglednijim svjetskim festivalima (npr. Venecija, Annecy, Oberhausen, Bergamo, Edinburgh).
Godine 1963. Mimica se vratio igranomu filmu. Katkada ponavljajući motive iz crtanih filmova te prihvaćajući među prvima u Hrvatskoj modernističke stilske i tematske elemente režirao je fimove Prometej s otoka Viševice (1965., Velika zlatna arena u Puli), Ponedjeljak ili utorak (1966., Velika zlatna arena u Puli), Kaja, ubit ću te (1967). Nakon toga pristup mu postaje znatno akademskiji (npr. Događaj, 1969; Seljačka buna, 1975; Banović Strahinja, 1981).
Vatroslav Mimica dobio je niz domaćim i međunarodnih priznanja za svoj umjetnički rad na području kinematografije, među kojima Nagradu »Vladimir Nazor« za životno djelo (1986).
Kako je u In memoriam objavio HRT "Vatroslav Mimica oduvijek je bio i ostao vezan za ljudske sudbine, humanist iznad svega. Mimica je cijeli svoj životni i kreativni opus posvetio obrani humanističkih vrijednosti za koje je osjećao da ih moderni veliki sustavi zaboravljaju i ugrožavaju. Od onda kad je kao mladić otišao u partizane, iz potrebe da se bori protiv nepravdi fašizma, pa preko svih svojih super-avangardnih crtanih filmova, te - što je najvažnije - kroz sve svoje igrane filmove - uvijek je svijet promatrao prvenstveno pogledom uvjerenog humaniste.
 Vatroslav Mimica je imao rijetko istančan osjećaj za nepravde usmjerene prema čovjeku-pojedincu. Čovjek-pojedinac, a ne sustavi, bili su mu uvijek središnji motiv pričanja. Svi njegovi filmovi prožeti su tom središnjom idejom. Uvijek su mu individua i njezine ljudske slobode bile u prvom planu, a takav je bio i u privatnom životu".
Odlazak Vatroslava Mimice nenadoknadiv je gubitak, ne samo za hrvatski nego i za europski film.

Umro autor ‘Seljačke bune‘ - doajen hrvatskog filma Vatroslav Mimica

 Doajen hrvatskog filma, filmski redatelj, scenarist i producent, Vatroslav Mimica umro je u subotu u Zagrebu u 97. godini, izvijestila je u nedjelju Hrvatska radio televizija (HRT).
 Velikan hrvatske kimematografije Vatroslav Mimica rođer je 1923. u Omišu. Hrvatska kinematografija pamtit će ga u prvom redu po igranim remek-djelima poput "Prometeja s otoka Viševice", međunarodno priznatog "Kaja, ubit ću te", "Ponedjeljak ili utorak", "Događaj", pa sve do "Seljačke bune" i "Banovića Strahinje". 
 Studirao na Medicinskom fakultetu u Zagrebu, a bio sudionik antifašističkog pokreta u II. Svjetskom ratu. Na filmu je od 1950., najprije kao direktor Jadran filma, čiji je jedan od umeteljitelja. Debitirao je igranim filmom U oluji (1952.), a nakon drugog igranog filma, komedije Jubilej gospodina Ikla (1955.), posvetio se crtanomu filmu.  Jedan je od osnivača Zagrebačke škole crtanog filma. Isprva radi kao scenarist (s Vladimirom  Tadejom) nekih od prvih uspjeha Zagrebačke škole crtanog filma (npr. Premijera i Na livadi N. Kostelca te Cowboy Jimmy D. Vukotića – svi 1957.). Godine 1957. režirao je svoj prvi crtani film Strašilo, koji je dobio  Grand Prix u Veneciji i prvi je veliki međunarodni uspjeh Zagrebačke škole. Ubrzo je i drugim filmovima Happy End (1958.), Inspektor se vratio kući, Kod fotografa (oba 1959.) te Mala kronika (1962.) stekao ugled jednog od prvaka Škole.
Ti su mu filmovi – zaokupljenošću suvremenom tematikom (osamljenost, otuđenje u urbanom svijetu) te modernošću i inovativnošću izraza (nizovi paralelnih kolorističkih planova, kolažno umetanje isječaka fotografija, unošenje realnih predmeta u sliku) - donijeli nagrade na najuglednijim svjetskim festivalima (npr. Venecija, Annecy, Oberhausen, Bergamo, Edinburgh).
Godine 1963. Mimica se vratio igranomu filmu. Katkada ponavljajući motive iz crtanih filmova te prihvaćajući među prvima u Hrvatskoj modernističke stilske i tematske elemente režirao je fimove Prometej s otoka Viševice (1965., Velika zlatna arena u Puli), Ponedjeljak ili utorak (1966., Velika zlatna arena u Puli), Kaja, ubit ću te (1967). Nakon toga pristup mu postaje znatno akademskiji (npr. Događaj, 1969; Seljačka buna, 1975; Banović Strahinja, 1981).
Vatroslav Mimica dobio je niz domaćim i međunarodnih priznanja za svoj umjetnički rad na području kinematografije, među kojima Nagradu »Vladimir Nazor« za životno djelo (1986).
Kako je u In memoriam objavio HRT "Vatroslav Mimica oduvijek je bio i ostao vezan za ljudske sudbine, humanist iznad svega. Mimica je cijeli svoj životni i kreativni opus posvetio obrani humanističkih vrijednosti za koje je osjećao da ih moderni veliki sustavi zaboravljaju i ugrožavaju. Od onda kad je kao mladić otišao u partizane, iz potrebe da se bori protiv nepravdi fašizma, pa preko svih svojih super-avangardnih crtanih filmova, te - što je najvažnije - kroz sve svoje igrane filmove - uvijek je svijet promatrao prvenstveno pogledom uvjerenog humaniste.
 Vatroslav Mimica je imao rijetko istančan osjećaj za nepravde usmjerene prema čovjeku-pojedincu. Čovjek-pojedinac, a ne sustavi, bili su mu uvijek središnji motiv pričanja. Svi njegovi filmovi prožeti su tom središnjom idejom. Uvijek su mu individua i njezine ljudske slobode bile u prvom planu, a takav je bio i u privatnom životu".
Odlazak Vatroslava Mimice nenadoknadiv je gubitak, ne samo za hrvatski nego i za europski film.
