Izgorjeli kontejnerski brod koji je već prouzrokovao najgoru pomorsku ekološku katastrofu na Šri Lanki i dalje tone, dok je u njegovim spremnicima i dalje nekoliko stotina tona goriva, javlja ABC.

Brod MV X-Press Pearl koji je prevozio stotine tona kemikalija i plastike gorio je 13 dana prije nego što je požar jučer napokon ugašen. 

Ogromna količina plastičnog otpada već je preplavila plaže, a sada se strahuje od još veće katastrofe ako bi 278 tona goriva (tzv. bunker oil - pogonsko gorivo za motore velikih snaga - nap. OM) i 50 tona plina iscurilo u Indijski ocean, prenosi Jutarnji list.

Tegljači su danas pokušavali odvući brod dalje prema moru, no on polako tone, rekao je glasnogovornik mornarice, Indika de Silva.

- Krma broda je pod vodom, a razina vode je iznad palube. Brod tone, rekao je.

Nešto goriva je već vidljivo u blizini plaže Negombo, oko 40 kilometara udaljene od Colomba, no nije sasvim jasno radi li se o gorivu s tog broda, rekao je fotograf AFP-a.

De Silva je rekao da je mornarica pomogla nizozemskoj spasilačkoj tvrtki SMIT da se ukrca na brod i započne vuču.

- Brod će se odvući što dalje od obale prije nego što potpuno potone, dodao je. 

U planu je bilo ispumpati kontaminiranu vodu s broda na tegljač, no ta operacija je morala biti prekinuta.

Smatra se da je plamen uništio većinu od gotovo 1500 kontejnera na brodu. Ekološka šteta se još uvijek procjenjuje, no šef Uprave za zaštitu morskog okoliša Dharshani Lahandapura kaže da vjeruje da je to 'najveća ekološka katastrofa za njegova života'.

Ministar ribarstva Kanchana Wijesekera je na Twitteru potvrdio da brod tone.

Predsjednik Gotabaya Rajapaksa je u ponedjeljak zatražio od Australije da pomognu u procjeni ekološke štete na Šri Lanki. 

Pokrenuta je i kriminalistička istraga. Vlasti smatraju da je do požara došlo zbog curenja dušične kiseline, a za što je posada znala od 11. svibnja, devet dana prije nego što je požar počeo.

Policija je priopćila da su ispitani kapetan broda i glavni inžinjer, a obojica su ruski državljani. Sud je jučer naredio da se zaplijene sve putovnice dok istraga traje. 

Kad je požar počeo, brod je plovio iz Guharata u Indiji prema Colombu, a prethodno je posjetio Katar i Dubai, gdje su utovareni spremnici s 25 tona dušične kiseline.

Izgorjeli kontejnerski brod koji je već prouzrokovao najgoru pomorsku ekološku katastrofu na Šri Lanki i dalje tone, dok je u njegovim spremnicima i dalje nekoliko stotina tona goriva, javlja ABC.

Brod MV X-Press Pearl koji je prevozio stotine tona kemikalija i plastike gorio je 13 dana prije nego što je požar jučer napokon ugašen. 

Ogromna količina plastičnog otpada već je preplavila plaže, a sada se strahuje od još veće katastrofe ako bi 278 tona goriva (tzv. bunker oil - pogonsko gorivo za motore velikih snaga - nap. OM) i 50 tona plina iscurilo u Indijski ocean, prenosi Jutarnji list.

Tegljači su danas pokušavali odvući brod dalje prema moru, no on polako tone, rekao je glasnogovornik mornarice, Indika de Silva.

- Krma broda je pod vodom, a razina vode je iznad palube. Brod tone, rekao je.

Nešto goriva je već vidljivo u blizini plaže Negombo, oko 40 kilometara udaljene od Colomba, no nije sasvim jasno radi li se o gorivu s tog broda, rekao je fotograf AFP-a.

De Silva je rekao da je mornarica pomogla nizozemskoj spasilačkoj tvrtki SMIT da se ukrca na brod i započne vuču.

- Brod će se odvući što dalje od obale prije nego što potpuno potone, dodao je. 

U planu je bilo ispumpati kontaminiranu vodu s broda na tegljač, no ta operacija je morala biti prekinuta.

Smatra se da je plamen uništio većinu od gotovo 1500 kontejnera na brodu. Ekološka šteta se još uvijek procjenjuje, no šef Uprave za zaštitu morskog okoliša Dharshani Lahandapura kaže da vjeruje da je to 'najveća ekološka katastrofa za njegova života'.

Ministar ribarstva Kanchana Wijesekera je na Twitteru potvrdio da brod tone.

Predsjednik Gotabaya Rajapaksa je u ponedjeljak zatražio od Australije da pomognu u procjeni ekološke štete na Šri Lanki. 

Pokrenuta je i kriminalistička istraga. Vlasti smatraju da je do požara došlo zbog curenja dušične kiseline, a za što je posada znala od 11. svibnja, devet dana prije nego što je požar počeo.

Policija je priopćila da su ispitani kapetan broda i glavni inžinjer, a obojica su ruski državljani. Sud je jučer naredio da se zaplijene sve putovnice dok istraga traje. 

Kad je požar počeo, brod je plovio iz Guharata u Indiji prema Colombu, a prethodno je posjetio Katar i Dubai, gdje su utovareni spremnici s 25 tona dušične kiseline.
