Globalno zatopljenje utječe na miješanje oceanskih voda i ugrožava njihovu "ulogu termostata" koji regulira svjetsku klimu i morske ekosustave, navodi se u studiju objavljenoj u časopisu Nature.
Globalno zagrijavanje, topljenje ledenjaka i poremećaji u padalinama tvore na površini oceana sloj nižeg saliniteta, ističu autori, znanstvenici iz francuskog Nacionalnog centra za znanstvena istraživanja (CNRS), sa Sveučilišta Sorbonne te Francuskog instituta za istraživanje i eksploataciju mora (IFREMER).
Taj se sloj razdvaja od oceanskih dubina poput ulja na vodi i to razdvajanje ograničava miješanje oceanskih voda pri čemu se vode iz morskih dubina u kojima ima kisika i hranjivih tvari uzdižu prema površini i apsorbiraju CO2, jedan od plinova s učinkom staklenika i uzročnik globalnog zatopljenja prije nego što ga povuku u dubine.
Ta pojava dovodi u pitanje "buduću sposobnost oceana da igra svoju ulogu globalnog termostata" klime, upozoravaju znanstvenici.
Osim toga, klimatske promjene izazivaju sve snažnije vjetrove zbog čega dolazi do zadebljanja površinskog sloja mora, a posljedica te pojave je slabiji prodor svjetlosti u dubine, a što je lođe za morsku bioraznolikost.
Studija je provedena na bazi mjerenja temperature i saliniteta voda u razdoblju do 1970. do 2018., posebno ljeti i dokazuje da se ta "stabilizacija" oceana odvija "ritmom šest puta većim njego što su predviđale prethodne procjene".
Nije riječ "o manjim promjenama", kaže voditelj studije Jean-Baptiste Sallée iz CNRS-a i upozorava da je na djelu "temeljna promjena u oceanskoj strukturi, daleko izraženija nego što smo dosad mislili".
Stručnjaci odavna upozoravaju da globalno zatopljenje utječe na ulogu oceana kao regulatora. Oceani, prema riječima klimatologa iz UN-ova IPCC-a (Međuvladina skupina za klimatske promjene) apsorbiraju oko četvrtine CO2 i više od 90 posto globalnog zatopljenja.
Porast temperature oceana utječe i na pojave ekstremnih meteoroloških pojava tako što jačaju intenzitet tropskih ciklona.
Konačno, porast temperature mora utječe i na ekosustave. Studija koju je 2019. objavila Američka akademija znanosti predviđa da bi 20 posto živog svijeta (u smislu mase) moglo nestati do kraja stoljeća kao posljedica globalnog zagrijavanja.

Globalno zatopljenje utječe na miješanje oceanskih voda i ugrožava njihovu "ulogu termostata" koji regulira svjetsku klimu i morske ekosustave, navodi se u studiju objavljenoj u časopisu Nature.
Globalno zagrijavanje, topljenje ledenjaka i poremećaji u padalinama tvore na površini oceana sloj nižeg saliniteta, ističu autori, znanstvenici iz francuskog Nacionalnog centra za znanstvena istraživanja (CNRS), sa Sveučilišta Sorbonne te Francuskog instituta za istraživanje i eksploataciju mora (IFREMER).
Taj se sloj razdvaja od oceanskih dubina poput ulja na vodi i to razdvajanje ograničava miješanje oceanskih voda pri čemu se vode iz morskih dubina u kojima ima kisika i hranjivih tvari uzdižu prema površini i apsorbiraju CO2, jedan od plinova s učinkom staklenika i uzročnik globalnog zatopljenja prije nego što ga povuku u dubine.
Ta pojava dovodi u pitanje "buduću sposobnost oceana da igra svoju ulogu globalnog termostata" klime, upozoravaju znanstvenici.
Osim toga, klimatske promjene izazivaju sve snažnije vjetrove zbog čega dolazi do zadebljanja površinskog sloja mora, a posljedica te pojave je slabiji prodor svjetlosti u dubine, a što je lođe za morsku bioraznolikost.
Studija je provedena na bazi mjerenja temperature i saliniteta voda u razdoblju do 1970. do 2018., posebno ljeti i dokazuje da se ta "stabilizacija" oceana odvija "ritmom šest puta većim njego što su predviđale prethodne procjene".
Nije riječ "o manjim promjenama", kaže voditelj studije Jean-Baptiste Sallée iz CNRS-a i upozorava da je na djelu "temeljna promjena u oceanskoj strukturi, daleko izraženija nego što smo dosad mislili".
Stručnjaci odavna upozoravaju da globalno zatopljenje utječe na ulogu oceana kao regulatora. Oceani, prema riječima klimatologa iz UN-ova IPCC-a (Međuvladina skupina za klimatske promjene) apsorbiraju oko četvrtine CO2 i više od 90 posto globalnog zatopljenja.
Porast temperature oceana utječe i na pojave ekstremnih meteoroloških pojava tako što jačaju intenzitet tropskih ciklona.
