Iaku su stigle posljednje na velikoj regati Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, za 70-godišnju Kathy Veel i 62-godišnju Bridget Canham bio je to najljepši mogući doček Nove godine.

Ove dvije neustrašive jedriličarke odlučile su sudjelovati na ovog velikoj regati dugoj 628 milja od Sydneya do Hobarta, grada na otoku Tasmaniji, koja se održava svakog prosinca i slovi kao jedan od težih testova za jedriličare s obzirom na neizvjesne vremenske, oceanske uvjete. Njihov brod, star čak 48 godina, među stotinu jedrilica, bio je drugi najmanji brod, dugačak tek devet metara, prenosi portal sail-world.com.

Nakon pet dana, 10 sati, 42 minute i šest sekundi jedrenja u teškim uvjetima, gotovo četiri dana nakon pobjednika, ove dvije žene uspjele su završiti regatu tek nekoliko minuta prije ponoći. Slučaj je htio da uplove u luku baš u trenutku kada je počeo veliki vatromet uz glasan zvuk sirena i ovacije mnogobrojne publike koja je na obali dočekivala Novu godinu, ali i posljednje natjecateljice regate.

- Bilo je nevjerojatno! Uplovljavale smo u Hobart a masa je uzvikavala ‘Curr-a-wong‘, ime našeg broda. Predivno! - izjavile su jedriličarke koje su startninu i pripreme za ovu regatu financirale preko crowdfunding kampanje. Inače, Kathy je učiteljica u mirovini, a kolegica joj umirovljena medicinska sestra. Upoznale su se ne jednoj od regata u Australiji i odlučile jedriti zajedno.

- Toliko nam je stiglo podrške putem društvenih mreža, da nismo htjele odustati. Predivno je što mi se javilo toliko mojih učenika koji su navijali za nas. Ponosne smo na ovu našu avanturu - rekla je Kathy.

Iaku su stigle posljednje na velikoj regati Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, za 70-godišnju Kathy Veel i 62-godišnju Bridget Canham bio je to najljepši mogući doček Nove godine.

Ove dvije neustrašive jedriličarke odlučile su sudjelovati na ovog velikoj regati dugoj 628 milja od Sydneya do Hobarta, grada na otoku Tasmaniji, koja se održava svakog prosinca i slovi kao jedan od težih testova za jedriličare s obzirom na neizvjesne vremenske, oceanske uvjete. - Bilo je nevjerojatno! Uplovljavale smo u Hobart a masa je uzvikavala ‘Curr-a-wong‘, ime našeg broda. Predivno! - izjavile su jedriličarke koje su startninu i pripreme za ovu regatu financirale preko crowdfunding kampanje. Inače, Kathy je učiteljica u mirovini, a kolegica joj umirovljena medicinska sestra. Upoznale su se ne jednoj od regata u Australiji i odlučile jedriti zajedno.

Iaku su stigle posljednje na velikoj regati Rolex Sydney Hobart Yacht Race, za 70-godišnju Kathy Veel i 62-godišnju Bridget Canham bio je to najljepši mogući doček Nove godine.

Ove dvije neustrašive jedriličarke odlučile su sudjelovati na ovog velikoj regati dugoj 628 milja od Sydneya do Hobarta, grada na otoku Tasmaniji, koja se održava svakog prosinca i slovi kao jedan od težih testova za jedriličare s obzirom na neizvjesne vremenske, oceanske uvjete. Njihov brod, star čak 48 godina, među stotinu jedrilica, bio je drugi najmanji brod, dugačak tek devet metara, prenosi portal sail-world.com.

Nakon pet dana, 10 sati, 42 minute i šest sekundi jedrenja u teškim uvjetima, gotovo četiri dana nakon pobjednika, ove dvije žene uspjele su završiti regatu tek nekoliko minuta prije ponoći. Slučaj je htio da uplove u luku baš u trenutku kada je počeo veliki vatromet uz glasan zvuk sirena i ovacije mnogobrojne publike koja je na obali dočekivala Novu godinu, ali i posljednje natjecateljice regate.

- Bilo je nevjerojatno! Uplovljavale smo u Hobart a masa je uzvikavala ‘Curr-a-wong‘, ime našeg broda. Predivno! - izjavile su jedriličarke koje su startninu i pripreme za ovu regatu financirale preko crowdfunding kampanje. Inače, Kathy je učiteljica u mirovini, a kolegica joj umirovljena medicinska sestra. Upoznale su se ne jednoj od regata u Australiji i odlučile jedriti zajedno.
