Mit je da su žene i djeca preživjeli potonuće Titanica zbog viteštva muškaraca na njemu, tvrdi povjesničar Claes-Goran Wetterholm.

On tvrdi da su većina posljednjih preživjelih koji su pobjegli na posljednjim čamcima za spašavanje s desne strane broda bili muškarci. U povodu nove izložbe o slavnom brodu, otvorene u londonskom Docklandsu, Wetterholm je rekao da je važno "srušiti neke od mitova", uključujući i taj da se pravilo "prvo žene i djeca" poštivalo do kraja.

Rekao je da je zapovijed kapetana od 15. travnja 1912. različito tumačena na različitim stranama broda.

Wetterholm (69), povjesničar iz Stockholma, izjavio je za "The Mail on Sunday": “Iako legenda kaže da su preživjeli žene i djeca, to nije istina: 323 muškarca su preživjela, od kojih je 80 posto ušlo u čamce za spašavanje s desne strane broda.

“Oni su preživjeli jer ih prvi časnik William Murdoch, koji je organizirao evakuaciju na tom boku, nije spriječio da uđu. Na lijevoj strani, drugi časnik Charles Lightoller, strogo se držao pravila "najprije žene i djeca". Shvatio ga je možda i odveć doslovno. Jedan čamac koji je mogao povesti 65 ljudi tako se otisnuo od tonućeg "Titanica" sa samo 28 osoba, ostavljajući muškarce koji su još mogli ući.”

Mit je da su žene i djeca preživjeli potonuće Titanica zbog viteštva muškaraca na njemu, tvrdi povjesničar Claes-Goran Wetterholm.

On tvrdi da su većina posljednjih preživjelih koji su pobjegli na posljednjim čamcima za spašavanje s desne strane broda bili muškarci. U povodu nove izložbe o slavnom brodu, otvorene u londonskom Docklandsu, Wetterholm je rekao da je važno "srušiti neke od mitova", uključujući i taj da se pravilo "prvo žene i djeca" poštivalo do kraja.

Rekao je da je zapovijed kapetana od 15. travnja 1912. različito tumačena na različitim stranama broda.

Wetterholm (69), povjesničar iz Stockholma, izjavio je za "The Mail on Sunday": “Iako legenda kaže da su preživjeli žene i djeca, to nije istina: 323 muškarca su preživjela, od kojih je 80 posto ušlo u čamce za spašavanje s desne strane broda.

“Oni su preživjeli jer ih prvi časnik William Murdoch, koji je organizirao evakuaciju na tom boku, nije spriječio da uđu. Na lijevoj strani, drugi časnik Charles Lightoller, strogo se držao pravila "najprije žene i djeca". Shvatio ga je možda i odveć doslovno. Jedan čamac koji je mogao povesti 65 ljudi tako se otisnuo od tonućeg "Titanica" sa samo 28 osoba, ostavljajući muškarce koji su još mogli ući.”

Mit je da su žene i djeca preživjeli potonuće Titanica zbog viteštva muškaraca na njemu, tvrdi povjesničar Claes-Goran Wetterholm.

On tvrdi da su većina posljednjih preživjelih koji su pobjegli na posljednjim čamcima za spašavanje s desne strane broda bili muškarci. U povodu nove izložbe o slavnom brodu, otvorene u londonskom Docklandsu, Wetterholm je rekao da je važno "srušiti neke od mitova", uključujući i taj da se pravilo "prvo žene i djeca" poštivalo do kraja.

Rekao je da je zapovijed kapetana od 15. travnja 1912. različito tumačena na različitim stranama broda.

Wetterholm (69), povjesničar iz Stockholma, izjavio je za "The Mail on Sunday": “Iako legenda kaže da su preživjeli žene i djeca, to nije istina: 323 muškarca su preživjela, od kojih je 80 posto ušlo u čamce za spašavanje s desne strane broda.

“Oni su preživjeli jer ih prvi časnik William Murdoch, koji je organizirao evakuaciju na tom boku, nije spriječio da uđu. Na lijevoj strani, drugi časnik Charles Lightoller, strogo se držao pravila "najprije žene i djeca". Shvatio ga je možda i odveć doslovno. Jedan čamac koji je mogao povesti 65 ljudi tako se otisnuo od tonućeg "Titanica" sa samo 28 osoba, ostavljajući muškarce koji su još mogli ući.”
