Europska komisija je u srijedu odobrila ugovor s farmaceutskim poduzećem Valneva radi kupnje njegova cjepiva protiv COVID-19. Radi se o klasičnoj metodi izrade cjepiva s deaktiviranim virusom koja je u uporabi već 60-70 godina. Isti tip cjepiva su, još prošle godine, razvile ruska (Sputnik V) i kineska (Sinovac Biotech) vlada.
Valneva je osma tvrtka s kojom je Komisija sklopila takav ugovor, nakon AstraZenece, Sanofi-GSK-a, Janssen Pharmaceutice NV, BioNTech-Pfizera, CureVac-a, Moderne i Novavaxa. Svim državama članicama EU-a se ovako omogućuje da u 2022. otkupe gotovo 27 milijuna doza cjepiva Valneve. Prema ugovoru, cjepivo se može prilagoditi novim varijantama sojeva, a države članice mogu 2023. naručiti i do 33 milijuna dodatnih doza cjepiva.
Valneva je europsko biotehnološko poduzeće koje razvija cjepivo s inaktiviranim virusom koje se dobiva kemijskom inaktivacijom živog virusa. Riječ je o tradicionalnoj tehnologiji izrade cjepiva, koja se upotrebljava već 60 – 70 godina, temelji se na primjeni ustaljenih metoda i vrlo je sigurna. Ona se primjenjuje u izradi većine cjepiva protiv gripe i mnogih cjepiva za djecu. To je trenutačno jedino cjepivo s inaktiviranim virusom protiv bolesti COVID-19 koje je u fazi kliničkih ispitivanja u Europi.

Komisija je, uz potporu država članica EU, to cjepivo odlučila poduprijeti na temelju kvalitetne znanstvene procjene, primijenjene tehnologije, iskustva tog poduzeća u razvoju cjepiva i njegova proizvodnog kapaciteta koji omogućuje opskrbu svih država članica EU.
'Ugovorom se omogućuje prilagodba cjepiva novim varijantama. Naš široki portfelj cjepiva pomoći će nam u borbi protiv bolesti covid-19 i njezinih varijanti u Europi i izvan nje. Pandemija još nije svladana. Svatko tko može neka se cijepi', rekla je predsjednica Komisije Ursula von der Leyen.
Ravnatelj HZJZ-a Krunoslav Capak je još ranije izjavio: 'Naručili smo oko 300.000 doza cjepiva, inovativnog, jer dosad smo imali vektorska i mRNA, a ovo je proteinsko i najavljuje se da će biti jako učinkovito. Dosta je jeftinije od mRNA cjepiva. Ukoliko se pokaže dobrim, ukoliko će djelovati na varijante, pokušat ćemo naručiti više. Pri odluci smo se rukovodili po tome što su brojne zemlje naručile to Sanofijevo cjepivo, najviše je naručila Njemačka. Obzirom da su oni naručili tolike količine, odlučili smo se povesti za njima jer očito imaju nešto više informacija.'

Europska komisija je u srijedu odobrila ugovor s farmaceutskim poduzećem Valneva radi kupnje njegova cjepiva protiv COVID-19. Radi se o klasičnoj metodi izrade cjepiva s deaktiviranim virusom koja je u uporabi već 60-70 godina. Isti tip cjepiva su, još prošle godine, razvile ruska (Sputnik V) i kineska (Sinovac Biotech) vlada.
Valneva je osma tvrtka s kojom je Komisija sklopila takav ugovor, nakon AstraZenece, Sanofi-GSK-a, Janssen Pharmaceutice NV, BioNTech-Pfizera, CureVac-a, Moderne i Novavaxa. Svim državama članicama EU-a se ovako omogućuje da u 2022. otkupe gotovo 27 milijuna doza cjepiva Valneve. Prema ugovoru, cjepivo se može prilagoditi novim varijantama sojeva, a države članice mogu 2023. naručiti i do 33 milijuna dodatnih doza cjepiva.
Valneva je europsko biotehnološko poduzeće koje razvija cjepivo s inaktiviranim virusom koje se dobiva kemijskom inaktivacijom živog virusa. Riječ je o tradicionalnoj tehnologiji izrade cjepiva, koja se upotrebljava već 60 – 70 godina, temelji se na primjeni ustaljenih metoda i vrlo je sigurna. Ona se primjenjuje u izradi većine cjepiva protiv gripe i mnogih cjepiva za djecu. To je trenutačno jedino cjepivo s inaktiviranim virusom protiv bolesti COVID-19 koje je u fazi kliničkih ispitivanja u Europi.

Komisija je, uz potporu država članica EU, to cjepivo odlučila poduprijeti na temelju kvalitetne znanstvene procjene, primijenjene tehnologije, iskustva tog poduzeća u razvoju cjepiva i njegova proizvodnog kapaciteta koji omogućuje opskrbu svih država članica EU.
'Ugovorom se omogućuje prilagodba cjepiva novim varijantama. Naš široki portfelj cjepiva pomoći će nam u borbi protiv bolesti covid-19 i njezinih varijanti u Europi i izvan nje. Pandemija još nije svladana. Svatko tko može neka se cijepi', rekla je predsjednica Komisije Ursula von der Leyen.
Ravnatelj HZJZ-a Krunoslav Capak je još ranije izjavio: 'Naručili smo oko 300.000 doza cjepiva, inovativnog, jer dosad smo imali vektorska i mRNA, a ovo je proteinsko i najavljuje se da će biti jako učinkovito. Dosta je jeftinije od mRNA cjepiva. Ukoliko se pokaže dobrim, ukoliko će djelovati na varijante, pokušat ćemo naručiti više. Pri odluci smo se rukovodili po tome što su brojne zemlje naručile to Sanofijevo cjepivo, najviše je naručila Njemačka. Obzirom da su oni naručili tolike količine, odlučili smo se povesti za njima jer očito imaju nešto više informacija.'
