Osobe koje su preboljele Covid-19 vrlo vjerojatno imaju imunitet koji traje najmanje pet mjeseci, ali postoje i dokazi da osobe s antitijelima također mogu nositi i širiti virus, pokazali su rezultati istraživanja u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu.
Preliminarni nalazi znanstvenika Državne agencije za zdravstvo Engleske (PHE) pokazali su da su slučajevi reinfekcije (ponovne zaraze) kod ljudi koji su preboljeli Covid-19, rijetki. Od 6614 slučajeva zaraze promatranih u studiji, ponovno su se zarazile tek 44 osobe.
Međutim, stručnjaci upozoravaju da ta saznanja znače da bi osobe koje su bile u dodiru s virusom u prvom valu pandemije početkom 2020., sada ponovno mogle biti podložne zarazi. Upozoravaju i da bi osobe sa takozvanim prirodnim imunitetom, koji je stečen kroz zarazu koronavirusom, mogle nositi SARS-Cov-2 virus u nosu i grlu te ga prenijeti na druge.
"Znamo da je većina onih koji su bili zaraženi i razvili antitijela zaštićena od reinfekcije, ali još uvijek ne znamo koliko dugo ta zaštita traje", kazala je viša savjetnica na PHE-u i suvoditeljica studije Susan Hopkins.
"To znači da iako netko vjeruje da je zaštićen jer je već prebolio zarazu, može biti uvjeren da je vrlo malo vjerojatno da će razviti ozbiljne simptome infekcije. Ali postoji rizik da će se zaraziti i tu zarazu prenijeti na druge", istaknula je.
U studiji se navodi da se nalazi istraživanja ne odnose na antitijela ili druge imunosne reakcije stečene cjepivom protiv Covida-19, a da će se te reakcije istraživati kasnije ove godine.
Istraživanje, poznato pod nazivom "SIREN study", provedeno je na desecima tisuća zdravstvenih radnika u Velikoj Britaniji koji su se na prisutnost Covid-19 infekcije i antitijela redovito testirali od lipnja prošle godine.
Između lipnja i studenog, znanstvenici su otkrili 44 slučaja potencijalne reinfekcije - od kojih su dva “vjerojatna” i 42 “moguća” - od 6614 sudionika koji su imali antitijela, što ukazuje da je stopa zaštite od reinfekcije 83 posto.
Znanstvenici planiraju nastaviti pratiti ispitanike kako bi vidjeli traje li kod nekih prirodno stečeni imunitet i dulje od pet mjeseci. Ipak, upozoravaju da rani nalazi druge faze istraživanja ukazuju na to da neke osobe sa prirodnim imunitetom još uvijek mogu nositi visoke razine virusa i prenijeti ga na druge.

Osobe koje su preboljele Covid-19 vrlo vjerojatno imaju imunitet koji traje najmanje pet mjeseci, ali postoje i dokazi da osobe s antitijelima također mogu nositi i širiti virus, pokazali su rezultati istraživanja u Ujedinjenom Kraljevstvu.
Preliminarni nalazi znanstvenika Državne agencije za zdravstvo Engleske (PHE) pokazali su da su slučajevi reinfekcije (ponovne zaraze) kod ljudi koji su preboljeli Covid-19, rijetki. Od 6614 slučajeva zaraze promatranih u studiji, ponovno su se zarazile tek 44 osobe.
Međutim, stručnjaci upozoravaju da ta saznanja znače da bi osobe koje su bile u dodiru s virusom u prvom valu pandemije početkom 2020., sada ponovno mogle biti podložne zarazi. Upozoravaju i da bi osobe sa takozvanim prirodnim imunitetom, koji je stečen kroz zarazu koronavirusom, mogle nositi SARS-Cov-2 virus u nosu i grlu te ga prenijeti na druge.
"Znamo da je većina onih koji su bili zaraženi i razvili antitijela zaštićena od reinfekcije, ali još uvijek ne znamo koliko dugo ta zaštita traje", kazala je viša savjetnica na PHE-u i suvoditeljica studije Susan Hopkins.
"To znači da iako netko vjeruje da je zaštićen jer je već prebolio zarazu, može biti uvjeren da je vrlo malo vjerojatno da će razviti ozbiljne simptome infekcije. Ali postoji rizik da će se zaraziti i tu zarazu prenijeti na druge", istaknula je.
U studiji se navodi da se nalazi istraživanja ne odnose na antitijela ili druge imunosne reakcije stečene cjepivom protiv Covida-19, a da će se te reakcije istraživati kasnije ove godine.
Istraživanje, poznato pod nazivom "SIREN study", provedeno je na desecima tisuća zdravstvenih radnika u Velikoj Britaniji koji su se na prisutnost Covid-19 infekcije i antitijela redovito testirali od lipnja prošle godine.
Između lipnja i studenog, znanstvenici su otkrili 44 slučaja potencijalne reinfekcije - od kojih su dva “vjerojatna” i 42 “moguća” - od 6614 sudionika koji su imali antitijela, što ukazuje da je stopa zaštite od reinfekcije 83 posto.
Znanstvenici planiraju nastaviti pratiti ispitanike kako bi vidjeli traje li kod nekih prirodno stečeni imunitet i dulje od pet mjeseci. Ipak, upozoravaju da rani nalazi druge faze istraživanja ukazuju na to da neke osobe sa prirodnim imunitetom još uvijek mogu nositi visoke razine virusa i prenijeti ga na druge.
