Britanski dobrovoljac koji je razvio ozbiljne nuspojave nakon cijepljenja novim cjepivom protiv Covida19 obolio je od transverzalnog mijelitisa, iako AstraZeneca to nije potvrdila.

Riječ je o upali ovojnice u kojoj se nalaze živce leđne moždine, a obično je posljedica virusne infekcije. Može se liječiti steroidima kako bi se smanjila upala, ali stanje može biti trajno.

Sada je najvažnije da istraživači otkriju bi li to moglo biti povezano s cjepivom, jer to nije rijetkost u ispitivanjima cjepiva, a navodno se to drugi put dogodilo s ovim lijekom.

Stoga su velika ispitivanja nužna za otkrivanje bilo kojih rijetkih nuspojava. Nešto što se statistički događa s učestalošću od 1 na 10.000 ljudi, vjerojatno neće biti otkriveno u ranim ispitivanjima od samo nekoliko tisuća dobrovoljaca.

Inače transverzalni mijelitis bio je povezan s cijepljenjem i ranije, ali vrlo rijetko.

Studija iz 2018. godine koja je analizirala više od 30 godina podatke američkog sustava izvještavanja o štetnim posljedicama cjepiva pronašla je 119 slučajeva kod 29 muškaraca i 90 žena, što je mali broj u usporedbi s ukupnim brojem cijepljenih.

Međutim, bili su grupirani u prvim tjednima nakon cijepljenja, što je natjeralo istraživače da misle da bi to mogao biti rijedak događaj povezan s cijepljenjem. Gotovo polovica tih slučajeva uslijedila je nakon cijepljenja protiv hepatitisa B.

Istražitelji će ispitati detalje bolesti i osobu koja je oboljela od nje kako bi utvrdili postoji li veza. Također će se osvrnuti na dozu cjepiva koju su dobrovoljci primili i njihovo opće zdravstveno stanje.

Stručnjaci se nadaju da se ovaj događaj može objasniti i da ne predstavlja rizik za druge. Ako je tako, ispitivanje cjepiva će se nastaviti, a istraživači koji rade na drugim cjepivima, od kojih je devet u trećoj i posljednjoj fazi ispitivanja, trude se naći način da izbjegnu slične nuspojave.

Britanski dobrovoljac koji je razvio ozbiljne nuspojave nakon cijepljenja novim cjepivom protiv Covida19 obolio je od transverzalnog mijelitisa, iako AstraZeneca to nije potvrdila.

Riječ je o upali ovojnice u kojoj se nalaze živce leđne moždine, a obično je posljedica virusne infekcije. Može se liječiti steroidima kako bi se smanjila upala, ali stanje može biti trajno.

Sada je najvažnije da istraživači otkriju bi li to moglo biti povezano s cjepivom, jer to nije rijetkost u ispitivanjima cjepiva, a navodno se to drugi put dogodilo s ovim lijekom.

Stoga su velika ispitivanja nužna za otkrivanje bilo kojih rijetkih nuspojava. Nešto što se statistički događa s učestalošću od 1 na 10.000 ljudi, vjerojatno neće biti otkriveno u ranim ispitivanjima od samo nekoliko tisuća dobrovoljaca.

Inače transverzalni mijelitis bio je povezan s cijepljenjem i ranije, ali vrlo rijetko.

Studija iz 2018. godine koja je analizirala više od 30 godina podatke američkog sustava izvještavanja o štetnim posljedicama cjepiva pronašla je 119 slučajeva kod 29 muškaraca i 90 žena, što je mali broj u usporedbi s ukupnim brojem cijepljenih.

Međutim, bili su grupirani u prvim tjednima nakon cijepljenja, što je natjeralo istraživače da misle da bi to mogao biti rijedak događaj povezan s cijepljenjem. Gotovo polovica tih slučajeva uslijedila je nakon cijepljenja protiv hepatitisa B.

Istražitelji će ispitati detalje bolesti i osobu koja je oboljela od nje kako bi utvrdili postoji li veza. Također će se osvrnuti na dozu cjepiva koju su dobrovoljci primili i njihovo opće zdravstveno stanje.

Stručnjaci se nadaju da se ovaj događaj može objasniti i da ne predstavlja rizik za druge. Ako je tako, ispitivanje cjepiva će se nastaviti, a istraživači koji rade na drugim cjepivima, od kojih je devet u trećoj i posljednjoj fazi ispitivanja, trude se naći način da izbjegnu slične nuspojave.

Britanski dobrovoljac koji je razvio ozbiljne nuspojave nakon cijepljenja novim cjepivom protiv Covida19 obolio je od transverzalnog mijelitisa, iako AstraZeneca to nije potvrdila.

Riječ je o upali ovojnice u kojoj se nalaze živce leđne moždine, a obično je posljedica virusne infekcije. Može se liječiti steroidima kako bi se smanjila upala, ali stanje može biti trajno.

Sada je najvažnije da istraživači otkriju bi li to moglo biti povezano s cjepivom, jer to nije rijetkost u ispitivanjima cjepiva, a navodno se to drugi put dogodilo s ovim lijekom.

Stoga su velika ispitivanja nužna za otkrivanje bilo kojih rijetkih nuspojava. Nešto što se statistički događa s učestalošću od 1 na 10.000 ljudi, vjerojatno neće biti otkriveno u ranim ispitivanjima od samo nekoliko tisuća dobrovoljaca...
