Infekcija gripom povezana je s naknadnom dijagnozom Parkinsonove bolesti više od 10 godina kasnije, što je ponovno pokrenulo dugotrajnu raspravu o tome povećava li virus gripe rizik od motoričkih poremećaja tijekom dugoročnog razdoblja.

Rasprava o tome je li gripa povezana s Parkinsonom traje još od pandemije gripe 1918. godine, kada su stručnjaci dokumentirali tu bolest kod prethodno inficiranih. Infekcija gripom povezana je s naknadnom dijagnozom Parkinsonove bolesti više od 10 godina kasnije, što je ponovno pokrenulo dugotrajnu raspravu o tome povećava li virus gripe rizik od motoričkih poremećaja tijekom dugoročnog razdoblja.

U velikom harvardskom istraživanju otkriveno je da su izgledi za Parkinsona 15 godina nakon infekcije gripom povećani za otprilike 90 posto i za više od 70 posto ako se bolest pojavi 10 godina nakon virusa. 'Ova studija ni na koji način nije konačna, ali svakako sugerira da postoje potencijalne dugoročne posljedice gripe', poručuje znanstvenica Noelle M. Cocoros za Medscape Medical News.

Rasprava o tome je li gripa povezana s Parkinsonom traje još od pandemije gripe 1918. godine, kada su stručnjaci dokumentirali tu bolest kod prethodno inficiranih. Pokazalo se da ponekad postoji desetljećima duga pretklinička faza prije nego što pacijenti razviju tipične motoričke znakove ili nemotoričke simptome kao što su poremećaji spavanja i zatvor.

Iznimka mogu biti infekcije mokraćnog sustava (UTI), pošto istraživanja sugeriraju da pacijenti s Parkinsonom često imaju neurogeni mjehur. 'Ali moguće je da UTI mogu biti rani simptom Parkinsona, a ne uzročni čimbenik', rekla je Cocoros.

Infekcija gripom povezana je s naknadnom dijagnozom Parkinsonove bolesti više od 10 godina kasnije, što je ponovno pokrenulo dugotrajnu raspravu o tome povećava li virus gripe rizik od motoričkih poremećaja tijekom dugoročnog razdoblja.
