Aerofobiju ili strah od letenja filmovi su potencirali dugi niz godina. Svatko tko pogleda, recimo, "Umri muški 2", "Lice straha", "Preživjele", "Put bez povratka", "Brodolom života", "Let 93", "Let", "Opstanak", "Planinu između nas", "Čudo s Hudsona" i "Snježno bratstvo" mogao bi postati aerofob sve i ako to već nije. Filmovi su rijetko okretali strah od letenja na šalu (legendarna komedija/parodija "Ima li pilota u avionu?"), još rjeđe imali aerofobe za protagoniste.

Stoga, vrijedi izraziti dobrodošlicu u kinodvorane islandsko-britanskom filmu "Sjevernjačka utjeha" ("Northern Comfort") redatelja i koscenarista Hafsteinna Gunnara Sigurðssona. "Sjevernjačka utjeha" bavi se upravo aerofobima i fokusirana je na nekoliko ljudi s željom da prevladaju strah od letenja na specijaliziranom tečaju prikladno nazvanom "Neustrašivi letači" ("Fearless Flyers").

Likove upoznajemo tijekom "najvažnije vježbe za iskustvo letenja" koja pomaže "steći uvid u uvjete leta u sigurnom okruženju". Među njima se nalaze Sarah (Lydia Leonard; "Tajne petog staleža", "Last Christmas", "Kruna") i stari ratni veteran, sada uspješni pisac Edward (Timothy Spall, najpoznatije ime u glumačkoj postavi).

Sarah žarko želi poletjeti da se može pridružiti partneru i njegovim kćerkama, iščekujući probni ili "iskustveni" let iz Londona koji će biti "kratak, ne duži od sat-dva". Međutim, ispada da je za destinaciju odabran tri sata udaljeni Island, kamo će Sarah i Edward poletjeti s influencericom Coco (Ella Rumpf; "Sirovo", "Poroci Tokija") i njezinim dečkom Alfonsom (Sverrir Gudnason; "Borg/McEnroe", "Što nas ne ubije", "Obiteljska priča"), uz asistenciju nesigurnog i ne pretjerano kompetentnog zamjenskog vođe tečaja Charlesa (Simon Manyonda).

Gledatelj sluti da će stvari krenuti/poletjeti naopako i ima pravo. "Nije bitno odredište nego let", kažu? Promislite još jednom. Turbulencije na letu prestravile bi i frekventnog letača i navele na "rigoletto", a kao da to nije dovoljno ekipa će, zbog kvara na zrakoplovu za povratak i nevremena, zapeti na Islandu.

Na islandskom aerodromu tješe ih riječima "Samo gledajte displeje", ali let se odgađa i odgađa, što je prilika da se radnja preseli u hotel i da komedija postaje čudna i mračna, crnja od ugljena, kao kontrapunkt bijelome snijegu, samo nerijetko i humorno preforsirana i samosvrhovita u festivalskoj "indie "ekscentričnosti.

U očekivanju novog Östlundovog filma, "Northern Comfort" ispunjava svoju crnohumornu svrhu, a Sigurðssonu treba priznati da naizgled odašilje pozitivnije životne poruke od slavnijeg švedskog kolege ("Ako želiš letjeti, moraš se osloboditi svega što te sputava").
