Naoko su redatelj Neil LaBute i glumci Justin Long i Kate Bosworth neobična kombinacija za horor triler. Međutim, filmofili će se sjetiti da je LaBute režirao nes(p)retni remake "Čovjeka od pruća" s Nicolasom Cageom, a da je Long glumio u "Jeepers Creepers" i "Odvuci me u pakao", pa i "Barbarianu".

I Bosworth je došla blizu hororu u remakeu "Pasa od slame". Pa opet, "Kuća tame" ("House Of Darkness") ionako nije standardan horor triler, više borba spolova unutar žanra, tj. egzaminacija ljudskih, muško-ženskih odnosa kakvoj je LaBute ("Lakeview Terrace") sklon još od filmova "In The Company Of Men", "Your Friends and Neighbors" i "The Shape Of Things".

LaBute je, čini se, snimio "Kuću tame" da se iskupi za krah "Wicker Mana" koji u sjećanju opstoji isključivo kao kolekcija Cageovih "GIF-ova" ("not the bees"/"ne pčele"), ali i da izokrene mizoginičnu potku toksične muškosti filma "In The Company Of Men", tj. prilagodi se "MeToo" eri.

U tom filmu muškarci-biznismeni su zavodili ranjive žene i lomili im srce čisto iz zabave. Jedan takav muškarac mogao bi biti i Hap (skraćeno od prezimena Hapgood; Long), iako je on svjestan da živi u (n)ovom vremenu u kojem treba paziti što će reći, makar i riječ "seksi", da se naruše prava žena. Hap je u baru upoznao zgodnu i misterioznu djevojku (Bosworth) i ponudio se da je prebaci kući kao "nice guy".

Ispostavlja se da je ta kuća "usred jebenog ničega" i da izgleda kao gotički dvorac u kojem bi mogao obitavati Drakula, ali to ne priječi Hapa da uspije izvesti da ga ona pozove unutra na piće. Njegov cilj je, dakako, više od toga, "one night stand", i on je uvjeren da će doći do toga, čime će se pohvaliti prijatelju preko mobitela i dodati da djevojka i "bogata" uz to što je "prelijepa", ali je pristojan i želi dobiti "seksualni pristanak" u skladu ovog vremena.

Tako fokusiran na cilj, k tome i omamljen pićem, Hap uzima zdravo za gotovo neobične pojave (prikaza u zrcalu) i zvukove u kući koje sugeriraju prisutnost nekoga ili nečega, kao i njezino ime jednom nakon što mu se predstavi (Mina), pa i ime njezine sestre (Lucy; Gia Crovatin) kad se ova iznenada pojavi u "bu" sceni.

Za razliku od Hipa, gledatelj debelo na vrijeme sluti o čemu se ovdje radi ili bi se moglo raditi, no LaBute i glumci nagone ga da nadiđe načelnu predvidljivost i nastavi gledati film ne bi li vidio što će sve snaći glavnog muškog lika i kakvu će mu točno lekciju seke očitati, kad već on to ne uviđa.

Nepopravljiv, Hap će suptilno očijukati s Lucy dok Mine nema i ponadati se da bi, razmišljajući donjom glavom, mogao završiti s obje u krevetu, iako bi mu bilo pametnije da razmišlja "gornjom" i dade petama vjetra. Muško-ženska dinamika i međuigra podsjeća na superiorniju "Djevojku koja obećava" u modernoj igri (ne)morala i izokretanju "nice guy"/"nice girl" tipologije na "MeToo" način.

Predator i njegov plijen mijenjaju rodne uloge, što postaje kristalno jasno pojavom treće sestre Nore (Lucy Walters) u još izrazitijoj hororskoj "bu" sceni. "Good ‘jumpscare‘, čestitam", komplimentira preplašeni Hap.

Teško da će netko LaButeu čestitati na hororu kao takvom jer, ponovimo, "House Of Darkness" nije punokrvni žanrovski film unatoč "splatterskom" krvoliptanju u završnici i stilizaciji stare gotičke kuće osvijetljene šterikama. No, možda bi mu mogao čestitati na satiričkom hororu muško-ženskih odnosa.

Naoko su redatelj Neil LaBute i glumci Justin Long i Kate Bosworth neobična kombinacija za horor triler. Međutim, filmofili će se sjetiti da je LaBute režirao nes(p)retni remake "Čovjeka od pruća" s Nicolasom Cageom, a da je Long glumio u "Jeepers Creepers" i "Odvuci me u pakao", pa i "Barbarianu".

I Bosworth je došla blizu hororu u remakeu "Pasa od slame". Pa opet, "Kuća tame" ("House Of Darkness") ionako nije standardan horor triler, više borba spolova unutar žanra, tj. egzaminacija ljudskih, muško-ženskih odnosa kakvoj je LaBute ("Lakeview Terrace") sklon još od filmova "In The Company Of Men", "Your Friends and Neighbors" i "The Shape Of Things".

LaBute je, čini se, snimio "Kuću tame" da se iskupi za krah "Wicker Mana" koji u sjećanju opstoji isključivo kao kolekcija Cageovih "GIF-ova" ("not the bees"/"ne pčele"), ali i da izokrene mizoginičnu potku toksične muškosti filma "In The Company Of Men", tj. prilagodi se "MeToo" eri.

U tom filmu muškarci-biznismeni su zavodili ranjive žene i lomili im srce čisto iz zabave. Jedan takav muškarac mogao bi biti i Hap (skraćeno od prezimena Hapgood; Long), iako je on svjestan da živi u (n)ovom vremenu u kojem treba paziti što će reći, makar i riječ "seksi", da se naruše prava žena. Hap je u baru upoznao zgodnu i misterioznu djevojku (Bosworth) i ponudio se da je prebaci kući kao "nice guy".

Ispostavlja se da je ta kuća "usred jebenog ničega" i da izgleda kao gotički dvorac u kojem bi mogao obitavati Drakula, ali to ne priječi Hapa da uspije izvesti da ga ona pozove unutra na piće. Njegov cilj je, dakako, više od toga, "one night stand", i on je uvjeren da će doći do toga, čime će se pohvaliti prijatelju preko mobitela i dodati da djevojka i "bogata" uz to što je "prelijepa", ali je pristojan i želi dobiti "seksualni pristanak" u skladu ovog vremena.

Tako fokusiran na cilj, k tome i omamljen pićem, Hap uzima zdravo za gotovo neobične pojave (prikaza u zrcalu) i zvukove u kući koje sugeriraju prisutnost nekoga ili nečega, kao i njezino ime jednom nakon što mu se predstavi (Mina), pa i ime njezine sestre (Lucy; Gia Crovatin) kad se ova iznenada pojavi u "bu" sceni.

Za razliku od Hipa, gledatelj debelo na vrijeme sluti o čemu se ovdje radi ili bi se moglo raditi, no LaBute i glumci nagone ga da nadiđe načelnu predvidljivost i nastavi gledati film ne bi li vidio što će sve snaći glavnog muškog lika i kakvu će mu točno lekciju seke očitati, kad već on to ne uviđa.

Nepopravljiv, Hap će suptilno očijukati s Lucy dok Mine nema i ponadati se da bi, razmišljajući donjom glavom, mogao završiti s obje u krevetu, iako bi mu bilo pametnije da razmišlja "gornjom" i dade petama vjetra. Muško-ženska dinamika i međuigra podsjeća na superiorniju "Djevojku koja obećava" u modernoj igri (ne)morala i izokretanju "nice guy"/"nice girl" tipologije na "MeToo" način.

Predator i njegov plijen mijenjaju rodne uloge, što postaje kristalno jasno pojavom treće sestre Nore (Lucy Walters) u još izrazitijoj hororskoj "bu" sceni. "Good ‘jumpscare‘, čestitam", komplimentira preplašeni Hap.

Teško da će netko LaButeu čestitati na hororu kao takvom jer, ponovimo, "House Of Darkness" nije punokrvni žanrovski film unatoč "splatterskom" krvoliptanju u završnici i stilizaciji stare gotičke kuće osvijetljene šterikama. No, možda bi mu mogao čestitati na satiričkom hororu muško-ženskih odnosa.

Justin Long nastavlja glumiti u hororima: njegova dva iduća filma "Spin The Bottle" i "Dear David" također pripadaju tom žanru.
