Iznenada je preminuo Marko Petrak, redoviti profesor u trajnom zvanju Pravnog fakulteta i predstojnik Katedre za rimsko pravo. Riječ je o pravnom stručnjaku koji je u razdoblju od 2003. do 2005. te ponovno od 2009. do 2011. godine bio prodekan Pravnog fakulteta, a tijekom bogate karijere dao je ogroman doprinos obnašajući niz dužnosti u nacionalnim znanstvenim i etičkim tijelima.

Petrak je studirao i diplomirao na Pravnom fakultetu (pravni studij) te na Filozofskom fakultetu (studij filozofije) Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Završio je, unutar filozofskog studija, i dvije godine studija klasične filologije, s posebnim težištem na grčkom jeziku i književnosti. Postdiplomski se usavršavao u medievistici (Dubrovačka medievistička radionica pri Međunarodnom središtu hrvatskih sveučilišta), a magistrirao je građanskopravne znanosti te potom filozofiju (znanstveni smjer) na Sveučilištu u Zagrebu. Doktorirao iz znanstvene grane rimsko pravo (2003) na zagrebačkom Pravnom fakultetu, a postdoktorsko usavršavanje imao je u Centru za studije i istraživanja antičkih prava (Centro di studi e ricerche sui Diritti Antichi) Sveučilišta u Paviji (Almo Collegio Borromeo). Na matičnom zagrebačkom Pravnom fakultetu predaje Rimsko privatno pravo kao obvezni predmet, nekoliko izbornih pravnih predmeta (Ius commune, Byzantine law, Kanonsko pravo i hrvatski pravni sustav), kao i Latinski jezik za pravnike (Latinitas iuridica). Bio je gostujući profesor na Sveučilištu u Dubrovniku, a autor je četiri knjige te stotinjak znanstevnih radova iz područja rimskog prava i drugih pravnih grana te oko sedamsto stručnih priloga.

Radio je i kao glavni urednik Zbornika Pravnog fakulteta u Zagrebu, bio recenzent Europske znanstvene zaklade (European Science Foundation) (od 2009.) te član njezinog College of Expert Reviewers​ (od 2016). Primio je priznanje za knjigu od značaja za unapređenje pravne struke zaklade dr. sc. Jadranko Crnić (2020.) te posebno priznanje Hrvatskog kanonističkog društva za znanstveni doprinos na području kanonskog prava (2015.), kao i godišnju nagradu mladim znanstvenicima i umjetnicima Društva sveučilišnih nastavnika i ostalih znanstvenika u Zagrebu (2002).

Profesor dr. sc. Marko Petrak će brojnim studentima i kolegama ostati u trajnom sjećenju kao samozatajni erudit i kolega koji je uvijek imao strpljenja saslušati ih i pomoći. Mnogi će ga pamtiti i po tome što je s ponosom govorio kako "u njemu ima konavoske krvi" i stoga je uvijek rado dolazio u Konavle, rodno mjesto svoje majke.

Iznenada je preminuo Marko Petrak, redoviti profesor u trajnom zvanju Pravnog fakulteta i predstojnik Katedre za rimsko pravo. Riječ je o pravnom stručnjaku koji je u razdoblju od 2003. do 2005. te ponovno od 2009. do 2011. godine bio prodekan Pravnog fakulteta, a tijekom bogate karijere dao je ogroman doprinos obnašajući niz dužnosti u nacionalnim znanstvenim i etičkim tijelima.

Petrak je studirao i diplomirao na Pravnom fakultetu (pravni studij) te na Filozofskom fakultetu (studij filozofije) Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Završio je, unutar filozofskog studija, i dvije godine studija klasične filologije, s posebnim težištem na grčkom jeziku i književnosti. Postdiplomski se usavršavao u medievistici (Dubrovačka medievistička radionica pri Međunarodnom središtu hrvatskih sveučilišta), a magistrirao je građanskopravne znanosti te potom filozofiju (znanstveni smjer) na Sveučilištu u Zagrebu. Doktorirao iz znanstvene grane rimsko pravo (2003) na zagrebačkom Pravnom fakultetu, a postdoktorsko usavršavanje imao je u Centru za studije i istraživanja antičkih prava (Centro di studi e ricerche sui Diritti Antichi) Sveučilišta u Paviji (Almo Collegio Borromeo). Na matičnom zagrebačkom Pravnom fakultetu predaje Rimsko privatno pravo kao obvezni predmet, nekoliko izbornih pravnih predmeta (Ius commune, Byzantine law, Kanonsko pravo i hrvatski pravni sustav), kao i Latinski jezik za pravnike (Latinitas iuridica). Bio je gostujući profesor na Sveučilištu u Dubrovniku, a autor je četiri knjige te stotinjak znanstevnih radova iz područja rimskog prava i drugih pravnih grana te oko sedamsto stručnih priloga.

Radio je i kao glavni urednik Zbornika Pravnog fakulteta u Zagrebu, bio recenzent Europske znanstvene zaklade (European Science Foundation) (od 2009.) te član njezinog College of Expert Reviewers​ (od 2016). Primio je priznanje za knjigu od značaja za unapređenje pravne struke zaklade dr. sc. Jadranko Crnić (2020.) te posebno priznanje Hrvatskog kanonističkog društva za znanstveni doprinos na području kanonskog prava (2015.), kao i godišnju nagradu mladim znanstvenicima i umjetnicima Društva sveučilišnih nastavnika i ostalih znanstvenika u Zagrebu (2002).

Profesor dr. sc. Marko Petrak će brojnim studentima i kolegama ostati u trajnom sjećenju kao samozatajni erudit i kolega koji je uvijek imao strpljenja saslušati ih i pomoći. Mnogi će ga pamtiti i po tome što je s ponosom govorio kako "u njemu ima konavoske krvi" i stoga je uvijek rado dolazio u Konavle, rodno mjesto svoje majke.

Iznenada je preminuo Marko Petrak, redoviti profesor u trajnom zvanju Pravnog fakulteta i predstojnik Katedre za rimsko pravo. Riječ je o pravnom stručnjaku koji je u razdoblju od 2003. do 2005. te ponovno od 2009. do 2011. godine bio prodekan Pravnog fakulteta, a tijekom bogate karijere dao je ogroman doprinos obnašajući niz dužnosti u nacionalnim znanstvenim i etičkim tijelima.

Petrak je studirao i diplomirao na Pravnom fakultetu (pravni studij) te na Filozofskom fakultetu (studij filozofije) Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. Završio je, unutar filozofskog studija, i dvije godine studija klasične filologije, s posebnim težištem na grčkom jeziku i književnosti. Postdiplomski se usavršavao u medievistici (Dubrovačka medievistička radionica pri Međunarodnom središtu hrvatskih sveučilišta), a magistrirao je građanskopravne znanosti te potom filozofiju (znanstveni smjer) na Sveučilištu u Zagrebu. Doktorirao iz znanstvene grane rimsko pravo (2003) na zagrebačkom Pravnom fakultetu, a postdoktorsko usavršavanje imao je u Centru za studije i istraživanja antičkih prava (Centro di studi e ricerche sui Diritti Antichi) Sveučilišta u Paviji (Almo Collegio Borromeo). Na matičnom zagrebačkom Pravnom fakultetu predaje Rimsko privatno pravo kao obvezni predmet, nekoliko izbornih pravnih predmeta (Ius commune, Byzantine law, Kanonsko pravo i hrvatski pravni sustav), kao i Latinski jezik za pravnike (Latinitas iuridica). Bio je gostujući profesor na Sveučilištu u Dubrovniku, a autor je četiri knjige te stotinjak znanstevnih radova iz područja rimskog prava i drugih pravnih grana te oko sedamsto stručnih priloga.

Radio je i kao glavni urednik Zbornika Pravnog fakulteta u Zagrebu, bio recenzent Europske znanstvene zaklade (European Science Foundation) (od 2009.) te član njezinog College of Expert Reviewers​ (od 2016). Primio je priznanje za knjigu od značaja za unapređenje pravne struke zaklade dr. sc. Jadranko Crnić (2020.) te posebno priznanje Hrvatskog kanonističkog društva za znanstveni doprinos na području kanonskog prava (2015.), kao i godišnju nagradu mladim znanstvenicima i umjetnicima Društva sveučilišnih nastavnika i ostalih znanstvenika u Zagrebu (2002).

Profesor dr. sc. Marko Petrak će brojnim studentima i kolegama ostati u trajnom sjećenju kao samozatajni erudit i kolega koji je uvijek imao strpljenja saslušati ih i pomoći. Mnogi će ga pamtiti i po tome što je s ponosom govorio kako "u njemu ima konavoske krvi" i stoga je uvijek rado dolazio u Konavle, rodno mjesto svoje majke.
