Pacijenti u bolnici Hammersmith u zapadnom Londonu primili su revolucionarni novi tretman raka poznat kao mRNA terapija. Trenutnim se ispitivanjem želi procijeniti sigurnost i učinkovitost terapije u liječenju melanoma i raka pluća.
Ovaj tretman koristi genetski materijal poznat kao “messenger RNA”, odnosno mRNA, koji djeluje tako da pacijentovom imunološkom sustavu predstavlja zajedničke markere iz tumora. Tijelu se želi pomoći da lakše prepozna stanice raka i bori se protiv njih.
- Nove imunoterapije protiv raka temeljene na mRNA nude put za osposobljavanje pacijentovog vlastitog imunološkog sustava za borbu protiv raka - rekao je dr. David Pinato, istraživač iz britanskog odjela za ispitivanje, za Guardian.
Iako je ovo istraživanje još uvijek u ranoj fazi i mogle bi proći godine prije nego postane dostupno pacijentima, Pinato ističe kako je novo ispitivanje postavilo ključne temelje koji bi mogli pomoći u razvoju manje toksičnih i preciznijih novih terapija protiv raka. Nova terapija s mRNA mogla bi se u nekim slučajevima primjenjivati sama, a u drugima u kombinaciji s postojećim lijekovima.
Brojna cjepiva protiv raka nedavno su ušla u klinička ispitivanja, a dijele se u dvije kategorije. Prva vrsta su personalizirane imunoterapije raka, koje se oslanjaju na izdvajanje pacijentovog vlastitog genetskog materijala iz njegovih tumora. Druga opcija su terapeutske imunoterapije protiv raka, kao što je mRNA terapija nedavno pokrenuta u Londonu, koje su "gotove" i prilagođene određenoj vrsti raka, a ne pojedinom pacijentu.
Dosad je razvijen niz terapija za liječenje pacijenata, uključujući kemoterapiju i imunološke terapije. Problem nastaje zbog toga što stanice raka mogu postati otporne na lijekove čineći tumore težim za liječenje, pa znanstvenici žele pronaći nove pristupe u borbi protiv raka.
Pretklinička ispitivanja na staničnim i životinjskim modelima raka pružila su dokaze da nova mRNA terapija ima učinak na imunološki sustav i da se može ponuditi pacijentima u ranoj fazi kliničkih ispitivanja, piše Guardian, a prenosi Jutarnji.

Pacijenti u bolnici Hammersmith u zapadnom Londonu primili su revolucionarni novi tretman raka poznat kao mRNA terapija. Trenutnim se ispitivanjem želi procijeniti sigurnost i učinkovitost terapije u liječenju melanoma i raka pluća.
Ovaj tretman koristi genetski materijal poznat kao “messenger RNA”, odnosno mRNA, koji djeluje tako da pacijentovom imunološkom sustavu predstavlja zajedničke markere iz tumora. Tijelu se želi pomoći da lakše prepozna stanice raka i bori se protiv njih.
- Nove imunoterapije protiv raka temeljene na mRNA nude put za osposobljavanje pacijentovog vlastitog imunološkog sustava za borbu protiv raka - rekao je dr. David Pinato, istraživač iz britanskog odjela za ispitivanje, za Guardian.
Iako je ovo istraživanje još uvijek u ranoj fazi i mogle bi proći godine prije nego postane dostupno pacijentima, Pinato ističe kako je novo ispitivanje postavilo ključne temelje koji bi mogli pomoći u razvoju manje toksičnih i preciznijih novih terapija protiv raka. Nova terapija s mRNA mogla bi se u nekim slučajevima primjenjivati sama, a u drugima u kombinaciji s postojećim lijekovima.
Brojna cjepiva protiv raka nedavno su ušla u klinička ispitivanja, a dijele se u dvije kategorije. Prva vrsta su personalizirane imunoterapije raka, koje se oslanjaju na izdvajanje pacijentovog vlastitog genetskog materijala iz njegovih tumora. Druga opcija su terapeutske imunoterapije protiv raka, kao što je mRNA terapija nedavno pokrenuta u Londonu, koje su "gotove" i prilagođene određenoj vrsti raka, a ne pojedinom pacijentu.
Dosad je razvijen niz terapija za liječenje pacijenata, uključujući kemoterapiju i imunološke terapije. Problem nastaje zbog toga što stanice raka mogu postati otporne na lijekove čineći tumore težim za liječenje, pa znanstvenici žele pronaći nove pristupe u borbi protiv raka.
